Q. What's the best monitor calibration system for a laptop. I would like it to be able to do what Spyder Pro does but cheaper. It's an LCD screen. I edit photos with PSE 8 and then print them. Would this make it so the screen and prints match? Thanks
A. Probably the hueyPRO at $99 It is made by Pantone, the gold standard of colour accuracy.

The Spyder was very popular at one time but of all my colleagues, NONE use it.
I use the Xrite i1Display 2 Pro which is also a good tool, but costs about $260
If you really want to calibrate your monitor and printer, the ColorMunki at around $500, is the perfect tool Here is a link that shows how that works

Computer Monitor Contrast Help! (For Photography... see question. =) )?
Q. Okay, my brother messed with the contrast of my monitor. I'm a photographer and I use this computer for editing my photos a lot. Both contrast and brightness are at 100% right now, and the photos I have are looking a little.. over contrasted. I think my brother changed the contrast.
My monitor is a Hitachi, I'm not sure what model or whatever.. if that matters.
Does anyone know of good contrast/brightness levels that would be good for my photos? Also, if there's other settings that could help me view my photos more realistically, I'd love to know. =)
Thanks!

A. Well, you need this tool in any case since you use your monitor for making minor changes in your images ... professionally.
You need a monitor calibration tool
Eye-one or Spyder
It will cost you about $250, but really your monitor needs to be calibrated every week if you are using a CRT, every month if an LCD. Since your brother got you into this mess, maybe he can kick in a little money to help you get out of this dilemma
