A. Yes, that configuration would play WoW and Borderlands 2 on ultra without lag.

But it's not the most cost-effective build for the money. You're burning money on things which don't improve performance and skimping in other areas you shouldn't.

First of all, dual GTX 550 Ti's is quite powerful. However, it's always better to have a single higher-end card than a pair of lesser cards running in SLI or Crossfire. SLI performance doesn't scale equally for all games. SLI/CF setups also experience more graphics driver glitches/bugs and also may run afoul of micro-stuttering. Instead of two GTX 550 Ti cards, you're better off with a single GTX 660, which can play top-end titles like BF3 on ultra at 1080p.

By the way, for WoW and Borderlands 2 on that 1366x768 monitor, even a single GTX 550 Ti is enough to run smoothly on ultra.

Second, AMD processors have weaker gaming performance than Intel. Core i5 is the best choice for gaming builds. Even Core i3 beats most AMD processors.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-fx-8120-6100-4100_6.html#sect0

Third, putting 16GB of RAM into a gaming rig is just wasting money. No games utilize more than 4GB of RAM. With 8GB you've got enough to keep your rig future-proof for the next 3-4 years. Gaming requires a high-end graphics

Fourth, you want a good quality power supply- something from a top brand like Corsair or Antec, not the generic one.

Finally, why do you have a secondary hard drive of 500GB? There's no reason for it... and unless you're storing a TON of videos and music, 2TB isn't needed for your main drive. A 1TB drive would be plenty. You might consider an SSD for super-fast boot times along with a 1TB secondary drive, but that's a degree of decadence you might not be interested in ;)

Instead of starting with the Mega Special I, start with the Mega Special III (base price $825)

I suggest taking the air cooling option - Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO rather than liquid cooling. That's fine even for moderate overclocking (which isn't necessary with a Core i5) and is basically zero maintenance.

Upgrade to the Corsair TX650 power supply and 2GB GTX 660 (which is currently a free upgrade from the GTX 560 Ti)

Keep the default Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H motherboard and 8GB of 1600Mhz RAM... those are fine.

You can still chose the Raidmax Augusta case if you really like it... Otherwise the default Cooler Master HAF 912 is just as good and costs less.

Add 64-bit Windows 7, your Azza gaming keyboard and mouse, your 600W PMPO speakers (although I recommend at least getting the Creative T3130) and you're set.

You can choose their ultra care options, although they're pretty much a rip-off. The professional wiring option is pointless when you're running a single graphics card- there's PLENTY of space inside the case, no airflow problems. The ultra enhanced packaging is just some extra foam that won't really matter if the delivery guy tosses the box over a fence. Assuming it doesn't suffer some awful mishap, their standard packaging provides ample protection.

Even with the Thermal Fusion 400 compound and Professional wiring options, your total is $1207 before taxes/shipping, without monitor.

I advise AGAINST getting your monitor from CyberpowerPC, I don't really like their prices, or the models offered. Get that from Newegg or Amazon. For example, this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824113030

Or if you want a full 1080p monitor, this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009316

So you spend less, for a better-performing system. Good luck!

please help me solve the problem (probability)?

Q. Four production lines A,B,C,D produce respectively 30%,30%,20%,and 20% of the total number of 17''LCD monitors in a factory. The percentages of defective output of these production lines are 2%,2%,1%, and 1% respectively. what is the probability that
a) a 17''LCD monitor selected at random is defective?
b) if a 17''LCD monitor selected at random is good, what is the probability that it is produced by production line B?
c) a 17''LCD monitor selected at random is defective if it is produced by production line C?
d) a good 17''LCD monitor selected at random will be produced by production line D?

please show me how to find the answer (a=0.016, b=0.2988, c=0.01,d=0.2012)

A. a) p = 30% x 2% + 30% x 2% + 20% x 1% + 20% x 1%

b) The probability of a good monitor is 1-p. The probability of a good monitor from line B is 30% x (1 - 2%). The probability that a monitor is a good monitor from line B, given that it is a good monitor, is
30% x (1 - 2%) / (1-p)

c) The probability that line C produces a bad monitor was given as 1%.

d) The probability of a good monitor is (1-p), above. The probability of a good monitor from line D is 20% x (1 - 1%). The probability of a good monitor from line D, given that a monitor is a good monitor, is
20% x (1 - 1%) / (1-p)

In general, the probability of this, given that, is
P(this | that) = P(this AND that) / P(that)

Can this desktop PC run AutoCAD 2012 & Crysis 2?
Q. I'm going to be gaming and doing AutoCAD projects on the desktop, as well as watching HD movies.

Are the system requirements below good enough?

CPU: Intel Core i5 3.1Ghz, AMD Phenom II X6 1055T or better

GPU: NVidia GTX 560 Ti, ATI Radeon 6850 (PCI Express® based PC is required with one X16 lane graphics slot available on the motherboard)

RAM: 3 GB

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Frame Rate Target: 30 FPS @ 1920x1200p <----- What kind of monitor & graphics card do I need?

The most important thing I'm looking for is a good graphics card that can run well. I will also need the smallest LCD monitor that can run at least 1920x1080p.

The graphics card should have PixelShader 4.0 and support for DirectX 11.

Budget is around $600-750.
No, I don't have the desktop yet. I'm interested in buying one.

A. For Crysis you're going to want a minimum of a GTX 560 Ti graphics card, and a Core i5 2500k (or a regular 2500)

For AutoCad, having the Core i7 helps because it actually uses hyperthreading. But it's less dependant on the video card.

But if you can only spend $750, that's going to be a bit of a problem because you can't afford both a GTX 560 and a Core i5 2500 or i7 2600. You will run out of cash before you can afford to buy a case, high wattage power supply, hard drive and operating system.

For budgets under $800 your best option is a quad core Phenom 2 system.

A Phenom 2 x4 955 is around $130
and a GTX 560 Ti is around $220.

For everything else you should be able to afford a 550 watt power supply, case, 4GB of RAM, one hard drive, and operating system.
You're going to have to build it yourself because if someone else builds it for you, they tend to charge more for the parts.

A. You are far better off reducing on some parameters and raising the graphics card level.
For example, the i7-3770K has hyperthreading unused in gaming. It only performs slightly better than i5-3570K. They are getting $120 more for the i7 over the i5. You can get to a GTX 670 or HD 7970 for the price difference.

The games you show though are fairly low in graphics, and a 75Hz display can only show at 75 frames per second and people cannot detect over about 40 frames per second.
A 7870 should play almost all games on ultra.
Here are some examples:
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/548?vs=598
http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/548?vs=550
Shown vs HD 7950 and GTX 670
The screen is a 1920x1080, so should be a little higher than the 1920x1200

GLW stock.. what do you think about it?
Q. What do you think.. I have bought in at 14.36 after some profits and losses .. back and forth.. now I'm down about 1,200.. Hold it?

A. Corning Glass is a silly company??? Whatever.....not a very helpful comment IMHO

Corning glass has a bit of a problem as I understand it...a big share of its market has disappeared with the advent of LCD television and computer monitors. Older cathode ray tubes used a lot of glass...by comparison modern TV's and monitors use little. So hopefully they will find a new product to replace this loss.

Let us look at fundamentals to see where you stand

Here is the Balance Sheet:

http://tmx.quotemedia.com/financials.php?qm_page=16802&qm_symbol=GLW:US
There is a fair bit of debt here with long term debt being about $2.2 Billion and short term is $27 Million...it does seem stable but it is rather high in my opinion

Here is the Income statement
http://tmx.quotemedia.com/financials.php?qm_page=898&qm_symbol=GLW:US
It does have a steady net revenue of almost $800 Million per quarter so the company is not destitute

Charting Analysis
*********************
http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=GLW&p=D&yr=0&mn=6&dy=0&id=p26091417181

Wow.... I can see your problem....you got shot in a drive by here....didn't you?

I think your purchase at $14.00 was pretty reasonable (we will look at resistance/support in a P&F chart in a few minutes) ... you bought after it broke a 50 day moving average...good move....probably on Jan 9 or 10 from the look of it...the Slow Sto, MACD, and BBWidth signaled a positive breakout...the price was riding the upper band..above at first but when it reentered the BBs it still tracked the upper BB until Jan18...then it entered a consolidation phase ...not serious but you got blind-sided on Jan 25....that was not predictable at all....

On Jan 25 they announced 4th quarter results that is the cause of the fall.....hmmmmmm

http://tmx.quotemedia.com/article.php?newsid=47787689&qm_symbol=GLW:US

OUCH there was a quarterly loss of 33% in their net income...that did it...and it looks like it was unexpected from the rise in price leading to the announcement.

"The display industry is in a period of transition .... We are working closely with our customers to reduce glass prices to help them with their immediate financial strains. To that end, price declines will be significant in the first quarter of 2012, as they were in last year’s fourth quarter. We expect significant double-digit price declines over the cumulative two-quarter period. "

goes back to my first comment....not only are they using less glass they appear to have to sharpen their pencil in pricing.

http://stockcharts.com/h-sc/ui?s=GLW&p=D&yr=0&mn=6&dy=0&id=p93925274344

this chart is not particularly bullish either on a dime it turned from Mildly bullish to very bearish...
Let us see now where the support/resistance lines are

http://stockcharts.com/def/servlet/SC.pnf?chart=GLW,PWUADANCBO[PA][D20120126][F1!3!0.2!!2!20]&pref=G

hmmm.....this is pretty grim....Your support level is $12.60 with the next support at $12.00...it just broke a minor support (now resistance) at $13.20...$14.00 is a more robust resistance.

I think you should consider selling this...the outlook for the next quarter is not good so I expect it could fall to $12.00 or less with time. The question is will it pullback a bit to allow you to recoup some of your losses

You should sell....the question is at what price. OK let's look at the intra-day chart

http://bigcharts.marketwatch.com/advchart/frames/frames.asp?show=&insttype=Stock&symb=GLW&x=30&y=11&time=2&startdate=1%2F4%2F1999&enddate=1%2F27%2F2012&freq=6&compidx=aaaaa%3A0&comptemptext=&comp=none&ma=1&maval=20&uf=8&lf=1&lf2=2&lf3=4&type=4&style=320&size=4&timeFrameToggle=false&compareToToggle=false&indicatorsToggle=false&chartStyleToggle=false&state=11

you can see in this chart that the $12.60 support at the end of yesterday's trading...the price raised slightly on higher volume after that...after sales are at $12.65 down a couple of cents....hmmm.

It is not clear cut at all......you have 2 choices

1. Sell immediately at the best price you can get and take the loss.

2. Watch the opening trading like a hawk...in L2 if you have it...if it breaches $12.60....sell immediately...if it rises from its current position follow it in L2 also.

The MACD blue line is above the brown which is mildly bullish...as well the RSI is trending up in the Intra-day chart....so it could rise on morning trading...If it does watch it rise til the RSI reverses direction and the blue MACD line falls below the brown one again.

If you don't have L2 charting here is a free one that may help you
http://www.level2stockquotes.com/real-time-stock-quotes.html

This situation happens and neither fundamentals or charting would have helped predict this...Good luck...I hope this helps.
