A good monitor for consoles?

Q. I'm in need of a new monitor for video editing, PS3 console gaming, and as a good display here is what Im looking for:

I have a 15 inch 2012 macbook pro that i invested heavily in as a student, and my primary focus for a monitor is one that I will be satisfied for years to come, until I decide it's time to move on. As for price, I will go as high as it takes, but since I'm a kid under $200 is looking very nice for me. I don't have a lot of know how on gaming monitors and I need one that can work with an el gato capture card, as well as has the proper cables/inputs for my mac. I've been told for console gaming you'd want to stay off of a monitor and for tv, but I think thats BS because computer monitors have a lot lower input lag then a tv would, which is important for a fast game like call of duty. But I really dont know, My primary need is a good screen to edit on, but it needs to be able to work with my el gato/ps3 setup I got going. Links, youtube videos, and thoughts on your own brand of monitor would be greatly appreciated. I don't know where to start my research, maybe someone can steer me in the right direction

What is the best monitor i can buy for 170 dollars?

Q. I am just trying to find the best monitor for 170 dollars i am using it mostly for gaming. i was looking at and BenQ GW2450 but didnt know if it was any good. What are some other good monitors in that price range?

A. In reality, there are only 4 LCD panel manufactures in the world: LG, Samsung, Sony and Sharp. BenQ and everyone else simply buys the panel only and assembles it with their electronics in their own case.
This 22" from Newegg is perfect as it has an HDMI input. A lot of monitors still lack such an input in 2012.

A. Yes, that configuration would play WoW and Borderlands 2 on ultra without lag.

But it's not the most cost-effective build for the money. You're burning money on things which don't improve performance and skimping in other areas you shouldn't.

First of all, dual GTX 550 Ti's is quite powerful. However, it's always better to have a single higher-end card than a pair of lesser cards running in SLI or Crossfire. SLI performance doesn't scale equally for all games. SLI/CF setups also experience more graphics driver glitches/bugs and also may run afoul of micro-stuttering. Instead of two GTX 550 Ti cards, you're better off with a single GTX 660, which can play top-end titles like BF3 on ultra at 1080p.

By the way, for WoW and Borderlands 2 on that 1366x768 monitor, even a single GTX 550 Ti is enough to run smoothly on ultra.

Second, AMD processors have weaker gaming performance than Intel. Core i5 is the best choice for gaming builds. Even Core i3 beats most AMD processors.

Third, putting 16GB of RAM into a gaming rig is just wasting money. No games utilize more than 4GB of RAM. With 8GB you've got enough to keep your rig future-proof for the next 3-4 years. Gaming requires a high-end graphics

Fourth, you want a good quality power supply- something from a top brand like Corsair or Antec, not the generic one.

Finally, why do you have a secondary hard drive of 500GB? There's no reason for it... and unless you're storing a TON of videos and music, 2TB isn't needed for your main drive. A 1TB drive would be plenty. You might consider an SSD for super-fast boot times along with a 1TB secondary drive, but that's a degree of decadence you might not be interested in ;)

Instead of starting with the Mega Special I, start with the Mega Special III (base price $825)

I suggest taking the air cooling option - Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO rather than liquid cooling. That's fine even for moderate overclocking (which isn't necessary with a Core i5) and is basically zero maintenance.

Upgrade to the Corsair TX650 power supply and 2GB GTX 660 (which is currently a free upgrade from the GTX 560 Ti)

Keep the default Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H motherboard and 8GB of 1600Mhz RAM... those are fine.

You can still chose the Raidmax Augusta case if you really like it... Otherwise the default Cooler Master HAF 912 is just as good and costs less.

Add 64-bit Windows 7, your Azza gaming keyboard and mouse, your 600W PMPO speakers (although I recommend at least getting the Creative T3130) and you're set.

You can choose their ultra care options, although they're pretty much a rip-off. The professional wiring option is pointless when you're running a single graphics card- there's PLENTY of space inside the case, no airflow problems. The ultra enhanced packaging is just some extra foam that won't really matter if the delivery guy tosses the box over a fence. Assuming it doesn't suffer some awful mishap, their standard packaging provides ample protection.

Even with the Thermal Fusion 400 compound and Professional wiring options, your total is $1207 before taxes/shipping, without monitor.

I advise AGAINST getting your monitor from CyberpowerPC, I don't really like their prices, or the models offered. Get that from Newegg or Amazon. For example, this:

I'm 15 and want to build a good gaming pc how much money will I need I'm on a low buget and what do I need ?

A. If you want to play games such as Skyrim, Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3; you'll need at least 1GB of Video Memory on a GTX560Ti+ or HD6950+.

Computer games are very graphic in nature, if your system is not capable in running adequately, then what is the point in having a computer with no ability to do so. There is no point in buying or building a system that can only handle minimum specification. 256MB of Video Memory (VRAM) is an absolute joke. It might have well been good about 8 years ago, but in 2011, almost 2012; the standard bench mark VRAM is 1GB and seeing how most high end video cards such as the GTX590 or the HD6990, both of which have a minimum of 3GB+ with the HD6990 with 4GB of VRAM.

The Plus (+) signifies the minimum benchmark for a videocard to handle the resolutions of 1920x1200 with 50 to 70 fps on HIGH settings only. This is dependent on a number of things, such as CPU, RAM, Hard Drive (7200RPM+ or SSD or VelociRaptor) and so forth.

If you are on a budget, get a job and get the finances for it. PCs are more expensive to maintain than Consoles, this is the unfortunately reality.

A Custom PC should cost at least on minimum about $1000+

I'm 15 and want to build a good gaming pc how much money will I need I'm on a low buget and what do I need ?

A. If you want to play games such as Skyrim, Battlefield 3 or Modern Warfare 3; you'll need at least 1GB of Video Memory on a GTX560Ti+ or HD6950+.

Computer games are very graphic in nature, if your system is not capable in running adequately, then what is the point in having a computer with no ability to do so. There is no point in buying or building a system that can only handle minimum specification. 256MB of Video Memory (VRAM) is an absolute joke. It might have well been good about 8 years ago, but in 2011, almost 2012; the standard bench mark VRAM is 1GB and seeing how most high end video cards such as the GTX590 or the HD6990, both of which have a minimum of 3GB+ with the HD6990 with 4GB of VRAM.

The Plus (+) signifies the minimum benchmark for a videocard to handle the resolutions of 1920x1200 with 50 to 70 fps on HIGH settings only. This is dependent on a number of things, such as CPU, RAM, Hard Drive (7200RPM+ or SSD or VelociRaptor) and so forth.

If you are on a budget, get a job and get the finances for it. PCs are more expensive to maintain than Consoles, this is the unfortunately reality.

A Custom PC should cost at least on minimum about $1000+

A. It depends on what games you're expecting to play as well as the graphics resolution you are attempting to reach. The higher the resolution, the higher graphics detail and also the resources in which it utilises.

The Budget PC price range, as with the previous poster, you need to increase the memory (RAM) to at least 6 to 8GB especially since most games of 2011/2012 will be fairly resource hungry and to compensate any efficiency issues that you might face with Windows 7.

4GB is not enough.

The hard drive itself, 1TB is a lot of storage; but if you're expecting to run it as your primary hard drive, especially with applications, operating system and archiving; then you should avoid it. You should look at getting a 7200RPM minimum speed primary hard drive of 320GB or better and then a second hard drive to operate as storage with 1TB or so and with a speed of 5400 to 5900rpm.

There will be significant performance issues when playing games upon one drive.

The 1GB GTX550Ti is a good card, but if you're expecting to play "high" graphics settings, then there will be a majority in which this video card will not be able to reach, especially if you have a LCD or LED monitor that can handle 1920 resolutions or better. Therefore, a GTX560Ti card or a HD6970 is the way to go and you will get "high" settings on the resolution given.

Even though you are on a budget as I have mentioned repetitively, the Black Edition of the AMD is perhaps ok; but for gaming it does not make any difference. I would have chosen an Intel chipset as an old LGA775 chipset will still out-perform this. In any case a lower grade Phenom II X4 series will be just fine in this instance.

Now, if you were to buy these parts individually, may be at a computer swap meet, or look at parts online; or even go to a competitively priced computer shop; then you might be able to get someone you may know or confident enough to put these parts together and save you the hassle in getting ripped off.

A. With that range i would wait and raise more money.
For Several Reasons ;
1. There is an Upcoming Graphics card generation on our doorstep , so your card will be outdated before you know it.
2. Running a game smoothly with a card in that range would be hard and it would require you to sacrifice game's graphics in favor of performance.
3. If your monitor is Full HD it is going to be harder than you would think. You would be forced out of your monitor's native resolution in favor of performance. (Be mindful that LCD monitors do not perform well outside of their native resolution.)

Other than that , you have two options ;
Get a HD6670
Alternative option ;
It may be just slightly out of your range but Nvidia GT640 would outperform HD6670.

Second option ;
Get one Hd6670 then raise money to get another then use crossfire to link them and you will get a good graphics performance that would be not far from hd6950's performance which is a high-end card.
Of course if your motherboard supports crossfire by having and additional PCI-E x16 Slot.

What are all the parts I am going to need to build a gaming PC?

Q. I have never really done this before. I have taken computers apart and put them back together. I have switched out parts from computer to computer. But I have never actually built a PC. Needless to say, this is a learning experience and a fun way I figured to blow off a $1500 bonus from work. Here is the kind of gaming computer I would like.

Computer games are very graphic in nature, if your system is not capable in running adequately, then what is the point in having a computer with no ability to do so. There is no point in buying or building a system that can only handle minimum specification. 256MB of Video Memory (VRAM) is an absolute joke. It might have well been good about 8 years ago, but in 2011, almost 2012; the standard bench mark VRAM is 1GB and seeing how most high end video cards such as the GTX590 or the HD6990, both of which have a minimum of 3GB+ with the HD6990 with 4GB of VRAM.

The Plus (+) signifies the minimum benchmark for a videocard to handle the resolutions of 1920x1200 with 50 to 70 fps on HIGH settings only. This is dependent on a number of things, such as CPU, RAM, Hard Drive (7200RPM+ or SSD or VelociRaptor) and so forth.

If you are on a budget, get a job and get the finances for it. PCs are more expensive to maintain than Consoles, this is the unfortunately reality.

A Custom PC should cost at least on minimum about $1000+

E.g. i5-2500K or i7-2600K on a Z68 or P67 Motherboard with or without an aftermarket cooler for the CPU to replace the stock CPU cooler. K-series signifies that it can be overclocked, whereas those without the K at the end can not be overclocked as much.
