Best LCD Monitor for PS3 and Macbook Pro Use?

Q. Hi!
What monitor would be able to run my ps3 at full 1080p (does not need to have speakers) and my macbook pro? I would prefer using an HDMI cable for the ps3 and a dvi cable for the macbook pro. I would need it to be at least 24" and the cheaper, the better.
Thanks!

A. Well, you are going to want a wide-screen monitor. We have been using Dell's LCD monitor family for some time. We've stayed away from their lowest-end models, but have been very pleased with the performance of their mid-stream models. I am on a 24" Dell 2408FWP with a MacBook Pro right now and it works spectacularly with both the native Mac OS as well as running Windows under Parallels.

This particular family has been discontinued, but their replacement line (U2410) is similar in performance and has even more connector types - two DVI inputs, HDMI, DisplayPort, Component and more. Very easy to hook up multiple sources, and if you do want a built-in speaker, the "sound bar" Dell sells attaches to the monitor and is attractive and space-saving (but is NOT what I would call a high-performance speaker system).

Current retail pricing is $599, but they are OFTEN running specials and discounts - and you can always just call Dell directly and ask the sales person to quote you a price that will beat the web price.

Need to hook my MacBook Pro to my 27" LCD Monitor?
Q. Hi how or what cable would I use to hook up my brand new MacBook Pro 2011 Fall MacBook Pro 2.3GHz to the following Monitor? What ever is easiest and has the best resolution. THANKS!

Samsung 27" LED Monitor S27A550H 1920x1080 VGA HDMI
5000000:1 Contrast|Fast 2ms Response

A. I don't know much about macbooks. but if you have an "HDMI" port on your mac, go buy an HDMI to HDMI cable; (They have all different lengths, depending on how far your laptop will be from the monitor, you choose the length.) they can range from 2 to 25 dollars about, depending on who you buy them from and what length they are. I recommend buying them from places like wal-mart or target, and avoiding places like radioshack. (Also, this is the easiest way, and best resolution, ranging all the way to 1080p. while VGA is low def, and you have to screw it in.)

MacBook Pro With Dual Monitors?
Q. OK right now I have a 27'' LCD TV/Monitor Hooked up to my macbook pro and I want to sell it and buy 2 x 22'' Dell Widescreen Monitors I was Wondering if I Bought a Y or Slit DVI cable and not a external graphics card would that still work the dvi splitter because i dont want to be spending money on an external graphics card if i dont need one so please tell me if the DVI splitter cable would work if i hooked up 2 monitors to my Macbook Pro

A. A splitter would only mirror the same image on both monitors. You'd need something like the Matrox Dual/TripleHead if you want your desktop to span 2 monitors. Make sure the resolution of those panels is compatible first.

What is the best LCD monitor for my MacBook Pro?

Q. I have a MacBook Pro 13" and I am looking to purchase an external LCD HD monitor. I would like it to be 30". What is the best one that I can get while keeping the price under $400?

A. Presently, there is no such thing as a 30" monitor that costs under $400.

30-inch monitors are usually very high-resolution monitors that do 2560x1600, and those cost upwards of $1000.

Unless you want a 32-inch LCD HDTV, those might be had for $400, but their resolution is far lower, usually 1366x768. There are also LCD HDTVs that can do 1920x1080 (aka 1080p High Definition), but you would be hard-pressed to find one of those for under $400.

I need a HD LCD monitor that I can play my XBOX 360 on and also run my Macbook pro 13"?
Q. My budget is preferably below AU $350. I am a design student so accurate colours would be good but not essential. I also wouldn't mind speakers, but also not essential and I would like no lag for gaming.

Can you guys help me out?

A. If your 360 has HDMI out, then this is what i would recommend. if it only has component then see at the bottom.*

ASUS VW246H Widescreen LCD Monitor is what i recommend.

Thinking of getting the Acer Black 22" LCD Monitor for my Macbook Pro, does it fit?

Q. Actually, here's a 1080p monitor which is 10 bucks cheaper:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236067

Better choice?
This is one of the new Macbook Pro's with the Mini DisplayPort (which I will get an adapter for - to DVI-D) I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with making dual-screen, as an extended desktop mode and if this monitor should work with the Macbook Pro 15"?

Here is the link to the monitor:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009145

Or perhaps you have a better suggestion for a monitor at this price?
Thanks a bunch

A. most external monitors will work
does your resolution hit 1920 by 1080 /1200 ? if so take a look at these two 24" modals

http://www.pcwb.co.uk/catalogue/item/LGMON248 LG (this is the one i use )

http://www.pcwb.co.uk/catalogue/item/ACMON283 ACER

yes have used dual displays ,,,,,, only on windows systems

How can I optimize my monitor resolution with my Macbook Pro?
Q. I have a 23" ASUS LCD monitor that I was using via HDMI with my PC. Now I have a Macbook, and the monitor is hooked up via the HDMI/DVI adapter, but the resolution, even set at 720 on isn't nearly as good as before. Am I stuck with this or is there a way to get the external display looking as good as it did with PC?

A. 23" monitors are usually 1920X1080 not 720p (1280X720)
try setting it to 1920X1080.

What is an affordable, quality LCD TV for a college student?
Q. I want to get an affordable, quality LCD TV to use as both a Television and a monitor for my computer (Macbook Pro). A good picture quality is important because I will be watching movies and playing games with this screen. Sound quality would be nice, but not a huge deal since I have a set of 5.1 surround speakers to use :-p.
Hook me up! Haha.

Thanks in advance!

A. whatever you do dont buy a Vizio no matter how cheap they are. They all die within a year

My speakers crackle only when I add an external display monitor to my laptop?

Q. They sound great when the additional monitor isn't plugged in. I have a macbook pro and the monitor is lcd connected by the standard vga cable. ANY HELP IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!

A. sounds like system problem.. try pluggin your computer into an external speaker.. try headphones first..

How do I connect my xbox 360 to a computer monitor?
Q. All I know is that they work best on things LCD's 20'' and above. What kind of cables do I need and whats a good reccomended monitor? Ill probably buy it off of amazon so if it's on there would be great too. I have a macbook pro if that means anything, but I was under the assumtion I could run it directly to the monitor.

A. the only cables a 360 takes are hdmi and rca, if your monitor doesn't have either connections then you cant connect your 360 to it

A. Check Toshiba's website or look at B&H Video's website for Toshiba monitors. A 19" HD LCD / PC Monitor goes for about $250. In general, Toshiba's prices are lower.
