The Best LCD Monitor For Gaming, Movies And Internet?

Q. For a few months now I've been glued to the ViewSonic VX2025wm as the number one to get. Great for all of the above, solid reponse time and contrast ratio and widescreen. But I was wondering maybe something better will emerge soon, within a few months or is even already out now.

By the way I am looking for an LCD, 20"-21", widescreen and good for all the above. Also I believe there is a solid line between monitors for business, graphic design, etc and the rest of the things I mentioned. By the way what would widescreen essientally mean for pc monitor? Do you agree it is better?

A. I haven't had a problem with any of the Dell monitors, for gaming or otherwise. Some video and photo editing monitors are special for their color handling and reproduction abilities, like you mentioned.

Widescreen is the aspect ratio between the height and width of the screen. Regular is more square while widescreen is more rectangular. For instance, 1600x1200 is a standard resolution, while 1920x1200 would be widescreen.

No, I don't have another lcd monitor or tv right now , is there any other way to check it?

A. Do you have another monitor? could you connect your PC to the LCD TV?

If you use another monitor then you would know weather its the card or the Monitor.

Also as its an external graphic card, you could take it out and use the on board graphic card on the motherboard. Try it out and see if monitor is still green.

3D on regular LCD monitor?

Q. I've never watched a 3D movie, I plan to go for Avatar in 3D (But my girl keeps making excuses), I just wanted to know how much good or bad is the 3D on regular LCD monitor from watching it in a movie theater?

A. 3D in a movie theater is done with polarized light. The glasses you wear have grey lenses (because they're polarized). The colors are perfect.

3D on a conventional monitor is done with red and blue outlining. There's some color loss because you're watching the screen through red and blue lenses, but you still get the 3D effect.

A. There is a huge difference between a HDTV and LCD monitor. One is meant for movies, gaming, tv. The other is designed for computers. How big of a monitor are you looking for? How much are you planning on spending?

24" Dell LCD monitors are affordable and are less expensive than a 24" LCD TV. TV tuners and additional electronics in a TV add to the cost. If you are not going to watch TV or play console games, then buy a LCD computer monitor. If you are, then buy an LCD TV. There is no point in buying a more expensive product, when you are not going to be using all its features.

It's practicality and purpose. It's kinda hard to view a 32" LCD monitor, when you are only 3 feet away from the screen.

Quality-wise...they are the same, if we are comparing an HDTV LCD and LCD monitor. It's all about cost and footprint.

A. If you want to play back Blu-Ray DVDs at full pixel-for-pixel 1080p High-Definition, you need the following:

1) A Blu Ray drive.

2) An HDCP-compliant video card.

3) An HDCP-compliant monitor that can display 1920x1080. (So in a nutshell, "Full HD" monitor = HDCP compliance and 1920x1080 resolution-capable.)

Keep in mind that HDCP-protected digital high-def video content like Blu Ray discs requires both the vid card and monitor to be HDCP-compliant. If one of those pieces are not, HD Blu Ray movie playback will NOT work.

Can i hook up a dvd player to an lcd monitor using monster cable w dvi end and dvi with hdmi adapter end?

Q. thanks for the help everyone! im still having trouble! i have a vga going out to my pc and a dvi going out into a hdmi. i used a monstor dvi to hdmi converter to use the monster dvi cable. i can switch between vga and dvi with a button on the lcd monitor. the vga comes up fine. when i turn on the dvd player and switch to dvi mode it comes up fine as well with he samsung "on" screen. BUT when i put a dvd in the samsung hd850 the scepter 19 inch x9w the screen goes lite blue then black then lite blue then black. when i take the dvd out te samsung menu comes up perfect. i tried changing the dvd players specs fom 480 to 720 to 768. the lcds to res is only 1400x900. i changed from the dvd players rgb-normal to rgb-expand and from dvi A to dvi B. this is all in samsungs menu. I am pulling my hair out. the sceptre lcd displays the dvd player when it turns on but not the movie when i load it in the player!!!! What am i doing wrong? i feel like i ate a bowl of clown this morning guys! thanks!

A. I would see if you have a progressive scan function on the DVD player. Other causes may be if you have the right DVI adaptor. There are several types of DVI-D, DVI-I etc. recearch this on the link I provide below compared to what you physically have.

A. Important things to look at are the resolution, brightness, and response time. The response time is more for games but it would seem logical that a faster response time equals smoother video. the resolution in my opinion is by far the most important although ther is no point in high resolution if the screen is dim. :)

Besides Blu-Ray players in India are rediculously high priced. If you can afford it, sony PS3 would be great investment for playing Blu-Ray discs as well as games in budget of around 20000 or you can wait for prices to come down.

A. that res should play any of those - 480 to 768

the physical connection is good cause u get the menu ok.

play with the aspect ratio on the dvd player

an hdmi output thru a converter may not work with a movie because of DRM issues. try an old dvd or a home made one.

u may have to go to using the component or composite outputs.
