lcd monitor clarity issue?
Q. I am using an acer AL 1706 LCD monitor and am running it at its native resolution (1280 x 1024 @ 75 Hz). I have tried using both the standard microsoft plug and play monitor driver as well as the specific driver for this monitor (although it always says that it is for the al 1716 after I install it). I find that overall image clarity is great, but the text, expecially in web browsers tends to look slightly out of focus (I have tried using cleartype, standard smoothing, and no smoothing). This has been giving me some pretty bad eye strain after using the computer for 20 minutes or more. Does anybody have any ideas as to what the issue is and how to fix it?

A. LCD is bad for text reading. Even with higher quality LCD monitor you will still have same problem. It's the hardware problem, I doubt you can find a satisfied solution.
Here is something you can try to improve a little:
1. turn on the text mode if you lcd support when you read text.
2. goto your video card driver, find the custom resolution control panel, swith the timing to GTF or DMT. See if you like the new effect. Some people say it makes big different.

hope it helps and good luck.

How to repair stuck pixel on lcd monitor?
Q. My LCD Monitor-L1972H suddenly the pixel is stuck, I wonder is it possible to repair ? thanks

A. I've recently repaired a stuck pixel on my 22" Fujitsu-Siemens monitor. I've bought the monitor just 1 month ago and the stuck pixel appeared 1 week after buying the monitor.
Well, "repair" is much to say. After I've notice it, I've run a program "dead pixel buddy" I think, to check if it's indeed a defective pixel. The pixel was stuck on green, but I still found it hard to believe. So I've just touched the area very gently with my fingertip, because it seemed to me it could be a small drop of water or a grain of dust. The pixel started blinking rapidly with the same green color. I've touched it again and the green color dissapeard (and the pixel displayed the correct color). Running the little test program again showed no defective pixels.
I did the whole "repair" thing with my bare finger and I left no fingerprint (I've touched the "pixel" really gently") but, of course, if you try this I would recommend covering your finger in a clean tissue.
After I repaired the pixel I was wondering I somebody else happened the same and I found other similar stories too - including some how-to's that involve switching on and of the monitor. But in my case that wasn't necessary.

Anyway, please note that you can't be sure my method or any of the others found on the web will work. Sometimes you can repair it, sometimes you just cant. But you don't lose anything if you try.

how do i make my monitor hdcp complient with out buying anydvd software?

Q. i have a hp lcd monitor that reads its not hdcp complient. is there a workaround other than buying any dvd to get it to play blu ray movies?

A. You misunderstood.

HDCP is a hardware thing that needs to be BUILT into the monitor.

You will NOT be able to play back Blu-Ray discs in full HD on a non-HDCP monitor, no matter what DVD drive or software you try to buy.

What is a good blu-ray player to run to my lcd monitor?
Q. I just read i could hook up my P244W lcd monitor to a blu-ray player.I have 2 hdmi imput's and max resolution 1920x1080. Do you think a blu-ray player should work with this monitor?

A. Yes HD movies on blu-ray discs have a resolution of 1080p, so your monitor supports that resolution. But 24 inch is low for watching HD movies in full glory (anything of 32 inch or above would be good) .

Besides Blu-Ray players in India are rediculously high priced. If you can afford it, sony PS3 would be great investment for playing Blu-Ray discs as well as games in budget of around 20000 or you can wait for prices to come down.

How can I know if DVI port on LCD monitor is HDCP-compliant?
Q. I'm planning to connect my ps3 to LCD monitor. I have DVI to HDMI cable. How can I know if DVI port in LCD monitor is HDCP compliant?

A. Google up the model name of your LCD monitor and read the specifications on the manufacturer's website.

Or, read your manual
