A. If your connectors are the same you should have no issue. Not all LCD monitors or graphic cards support both DVI and VGA so you might need to get an adapter or just match your connectors.

Now your graphics card might not be able to optimally handle your LCD monitor but that's usually on the higher end LCD monitor. For instance, your graphics card may only be able to display 1024x768 while your LCD monitor may be able to handle much higher resolutions (this isn't a problem for lower end LCD monitors).

So worst case scenario is you pay for a premium LCD monitor but could have gotten away with a cheaper LCD monitor and get the same quality (but not be as future proof).

Whats the Best LCD 22- 24" Monitor for the Cheapest Price?

Q. I'm looking to get rid of my CRT, but money is the biggest obstacle to doing this. Not sure that getting a used LCD makes sense, but that is an option.

Seems like the dollar devaluation has taken it's toll on LCD prices, and not sure if cheap prices are realistic at this point. Can't afford $250, but would still like a good view, and reliable electronics - wide screen preferable.

I don't care if the name is "Cheapo Tech" as long as the internals are up to snuff.

I have no idea the refresh rate, or pixelation that will do me best. I don't need top of the line, but don't want to purchase obsolete technology.

Q. I am in my sophmore year at college and i am really getting into using many differernt programs in the visual world like, AutoCad, maya, and 3Ds stuido max. I am working on a 15in. labtop now and i am looking to by a 19 or maybe 21+ in. lcd monitor to use. I was wondering what specs i should be looking for and whats good like Brightness, Contrast Ratio, Display Colors, Display Type. So if anyone knows anything about these, could you tell me whats a good or an ok spec. I am looking for something pretty cheap, like under $200. thanks for the help

A. Get the biggest LCD monitor you can for the price. They're all pretty much the same in that price range you're talking about so the rest of the specs won't matter much.

A. Those LCD panel for Monitor use is design main for text display. LCD display panel for tv use is design for image/picture. is not the same panel, some technical difference ! A low end standard LCD monitor price can be cheap, but a good monitor should be cost more than LCD tv ( compare to same size screen ). For TV..LCD display + tuner RF > IF> colour decode > Audio RF>IF> ..... Total many other parts and circuit design . Monitor need good Resolution LCD panel + VIDEOS display circuit , because of resolution ,LCD Display panel price always high,or even very high ! ( unless ,some cheap monitor use bad resolution panel ). maybe make is more sample for this... F1 engine and WRX sport saloon car engine, is engine, but difference design because of difference NEED !

A. Yes I can give you some input. For real, no b.s. like on Polls and Surveys. I studied monitors last year extensively, and here are my results:

The two best choices I could find were Viewsonic and Samsung. I went with the Viewsonic 22" because of it's extremely high user satisfaction ratings, the unbelievable warranty it came with, and the price. Samsung was neck-n-neck, with Viewsonic. But the warranty wasn't as good, and they weren't on the market as long so I had no long term performance information to go on. You will never regret buying a Viewsonic anyway. They are not going out of business, and their quality is near the top of the heap. I bought it from COSTCO. If you don't have a membership then I recommend that you get one, because you are going to save the membership fee with the monitor purchase anyway. They have both Samsung and Viewsonic. You can go with the Samsung, if you want. You won't hear complaints from me. I'm just advising you from extensive experience and age (unfortunately), how you can make the best choice. You can see my monitor on my 360. The picture is tiny, but, you can see it.

Q. I need to buy an LCD monitor, preferably 21 inch or 22 inch which has connectors for PS2 and preferably PS3 also (though the latter is not important).

Basically, LCD monitors have better pixel pitch since they have a lot more pixels at a much smaller screen size (compare a 1920x1080 50" with a 2560x1600 resolution 30" monitor).

Next is panel technology. Most manufacturers of LCD monitors use TN panels, while almost all LCD tvs use something like MVA (not sure about ips). Basically, TN is cheap and the monitors reflect this in their prices. TN gives fast response times while MVA/IPS allows excellent color reproduction as well as preventing colors from shifting when viewed at an angle. However, there are many mva/ips LCD monitors too, it's just that they're usually much much more expensive.

LCD monitors also usually do not have tv tuners but some, like the samsung T240HD do come with a buil-in tuner and a remote control.

Before buying, try to research first on the LCD tv's input lag and response times, since these will be the factors most readily apparent in everyday computer use.

Look for model with a 2ms response rate and which are full HD with the right connectors for you
Pay more attention to the average contrast ratio than the dynamic - a dynamic contrast of 50,000-1 is usually not as good as it sounds
