"No Signal" but computer tower is running normally?

Q. I recently built a computer and installed windows 7 (32-bit) on it and it worked fine for a few hours. Next time I turned it on it wouldnt register my keyboard or my 24" BENQ LED screen - The screen says "No signal" and my computer tower runs fine, the lights are on and the disc drive and fans work. sometimes it randomly registers the screen which makes me think it could be 2 things:
1) The Graphics card or motherboard is faulty
2) There is some kind of connection problem and sometimes a connection is made so that the screen and tower can communicate.

Please help!?

My specs are:
Motherboard - Gigabyte 990FXA-D3
CPU - AMD FX Black edition 6 -core
Graphics - ATI Radeon 6850
RAM - 2 x 4GB G-skill DDR3
I have tried a different screen and the same problem happens, I have checked both the pins on the DVI cable to see if they are misaligned I also tried VGA and still nothing. Inside the computer I checked that everything was connected tighty. My graphics card is PCIE so theres no onboard graphics, the one I have slots in.

A. Sounds like a display issue.

When you do get the screen to work, do you see the Windows background or is it a boot screen?

Do you have a video card built into the motherboard or is it a PCI-E card which slots into the motherboard?

couple of basic things to check first are these:

1. Unplug all power and data cables from the screen. Check that the connection pins at each end of the cable are not bent or misaligned.

2. Reseat the cables back into place and make sure they are connected and tight. Same goes for the power cable.

Another thing you can try is to connect another monitor to the computer and see what happens. If it does the same thing then you have a cable or hardware problem with the VGA port.

If it works then you have a problem with your LCD screen.

Well you might have a different problem altogether.

Take out the video card and turn the computer on without it connected. You should get "Post Beep" error from the motherboard (These are audible sounds coming from the system speaker)

If not. Shutdown and remove the RAM and turn the PC back on again. Again, you should get "Post Beep" errors (Although this will be a different sequence of audible sounds)

If not then your motherboaurd and possibly the CPU has failed and not the video card (Although I would still have it checked)

If you do get post beep errors with the video card removed but no display when it is installed, then the video card has failed and will need to be replaced.

Cheers,

Rob

Here is the best Budget decent gaming PC I can give you at that price range and I wouldn't recommend anything less bec for me "decent" means that you will be able to play ALL GAMES on high-max settings with the appropriate resolution.

What I have given you is the I3-2100(best budget gaming processor) and the HD 6850 (best budget GPU) that can let you play all games on high settings, some on max settings (depending on resolution and game requirements).

The HD 6850 is currently ranked #15 overall in benchmark, a step higher than the GTX 560 (ranked #16) yet significantly much cheaper =P

BTW, the monitor is 1080p

Glad to help =P
