Hp vs17 LCD Monitor?

Q. I have a HP vs17 lcd monitor and when i plug it up to the power outlet it's just dead. No green power light...nothing.
Im wondering if i could possibly fix it on my own and if i dont need to, another easy solution to my problem.
Btw i tried the F8 at bootup and other crap involving the vga cable etc.

A. If the power light does not light then you have a dead lcd, make sure all the power connectors are tight.

I have an HP w17e lcd monitor. How do i adjust the tilt on it?
Q.

A. Hiya Zach,

Adjusting your HP W-Series monitor by pulling or pushing from the bottom of the monitor can cause damage to the tilt mechanism and base.

The proper way to adjust the tilt angle for this particular LCD monitor is as follows:

1) Face the front of the monitor and with one hand hold the stand firmly, bracing it at the base so the monitor does not topple while changing the tilt.

2) Adjust the tilt angle with your other hand by moving the monitor's TOP edge toward or away from you until the desired position is reached.

Avoid breakage or other damage while handling the monitor and never touch the LCD screen while changing the tilt.

The HP W17-E has a 25 degree tilt range from -5 degrees to 20 degrees to provide an optimal viewing position.

This is genuine HP information also documented in the user manual for the W17-E LCD on the HP site:

GOOD LUCK!!

Thinking about a 2011 Infiniti FX35?

Q. We are shopping around for a mid-size SUV. Anyone drive this SUV before with any feedback? Major things we want out it is safety #1, and would like to know how it handles in rain/snow and how bad of a gas guzzler it is. Thanks!!!

A. :::: I POURED MY SOUL AND TIME INTO THIS SO READ!!!::

The guy above named "ToyotaSucks" is possibly one of the biggest idiots I have ever come across on yahooanswers, and trust me its tough to determine which one is the biggest idiot =) Clearly he has no logic nor knowledge of the Infiniti FX yet alone the Infiniti brand as a whole. For one I want to apologize on behalf of the yahooanswers for receiving such false information like the comment below. To correct him the 2011 FX35 is not a rebadged Nissan at all. The FX35 is purley infiniti inspired it rides on no platform from Nissan, and the fact he compared a Nissan Altima sedan to a Infiniti FX35 SUV is beyond me. The FX35 is a great luxury SUV, it competes with rivals in this segment which include the BMW X5, Lexus GX and Mercedes ML. Out of all its competitors its main rival is the BMW X5, both these manufactures are purley sports oriented brands which offer a blend of Luxury & Performance while Lexus and Mercedes target an audience more interested in the luxury factor rather then the performance department. The FX35 is very upscale crossover, in fact it was the first luxury crossover ever introduced in the world back in 2003, later on and now presently other brands have followed the same idea which gave birth to cars like the BMW X6 and the Acura ZDX. The FX is a coupe styled SUV hence the word "crossover". If its one thing you should know about Infiniti is that they are one of the most intuitive technological vehicles out in the market today, making it a very safe car. The FX35 has the worlds first Around view monitor which allows you to view the vehicle through the LCD screen from all four angles allowing you to park or reverse with ease, remember Nissan/Infiniti was the first company to invent and introduce the Rear View camera. The FX also has an "Intelligent Cruise Control" system, this allows the driver to maintain an appropriate distance from the car ahead. Using a combination of laser sensors, throttle and brake actuators and the vehicles braking system, a laser signal measures the distance to the car ahead, then automatically adjusts vehicle speed to maintain a pre-selected gap, the car will actually brake for you trying to maintain a safe distance from the car infront of you, the FX will even come to a complete stop by itself if the car infront of you has stopped aswell. Another cool feature is the "Lane Departure Prevention" system, a camera monitors the road ahead of the car, if it detects that you have strayed out of your lane, it activates a warning sound and light on your instrumental panel. Should you continue drifting the system will gently apply the brakes to the wheels on the opposite side to guide you back into your lane, the car will actually pilot itself into the original course intended. There are still a load of features, way to many to list!! The FX35 has a powerful 303 HP engine which is enough to keep you happy and entertained behind the wheel. Asthetically is terms of design the car is very Unique, it diffently stands out from the crowd and it never goes unnoticed. The FX35 has a very luxurious interior, not to mention the quality is very up to par with Infiniti's brand image. The stitching and design of the leather seats are more closley compared to that found in a Bentley GT contental opposed to your average BMW X5. The FX is a great value, it sells for a MSRP of $42,475 while its rivals are priced alot higher and are very underpowered without the same standards you get in the FX. The BMW X5 and Mercedes ML both start at $46,000 while the Lexus GX starts at $52,000. The FX despite being smaller compared to its rivals, it offers more standards for the money, better performance and most of all its very reliable. In terms of gas, you cant really expect a vehicle in this clas to recieve an MPG of a corolla, this is a Luxury sport performance crossover however its alot more economical on gas compared to some of its rivals, the FX35 has an MPG of 16 city 23 Highway. The Lexus GX gets an MPG of 15 city 20 highway however the BMW X5 does get better MPG compared to the FX at 18 city 25 highway. Out of all its rivals I would say the 2011 FX35 and BMW X5 are my favorite. Hope this helps. Happy Holidays!

Which is better for gaming LCD Monitor or LED Monitor?

Q.

A. LCD monitors are still the preferred choice for gaming. Sure, the colors on LED look more lifelike, but I'd rather spend the money of a large LCD than an LED at this point. It offers more value and the performance of current-generation LCDs is top-notch for gaming.

What is the problem with my LCD Monitor?
Q. Now, before answering this question, please bear in mind that..

- I do not wish to buy a new monitor.

- This monitor is/was top of the line, and during at the time of it's release, it was the best in it's series.

- This monitor is my baby, and like I mentioned above, I am NOT buying a new one.

- I do not have the money to buy a new monitor.

Okay, now that we've got that bit of information out there, here's the issue(s)..

As of recently, my monitor will not keep a constant picture.

When turned on, the screen will flicker brighter and darker, only to go completely black after about a second and half.

When this happens, the only way to restore the picture is to turn the monitor off and back on again. Which results in an inconsistent picture(as described above).

Now, please bear in mind that the monitor has power, that the monitor itself is not shutting off. It is only the picture, contents of the desktop, and etc, that I am losing a visual off of.

And no, the issue is not my video card. As I have tested 2 other video cards with this same monitor, as well as 2 alternative monitors with the main video card that I use within my system.

If it helps, the brand of my monitor is Hannspree. The model number is HF257, and it is 24/27 inches in width.

[Please, only serious answers. Thank you.]
Just to note, I have had this monitor for 4 and a half years.
And, ugh.. How much will this likely cost for me to get it fixed ?

A. LCD monitors have a back light to display the picture. This back light is a florescent bulb, or lamp. Just like any other lamp, they eventually die. Your symptoms sound like the lamp or the inverter (the device that powers the lamp) is dying.

You cannot fix this unless you want to dive into the monitor's innards. Your only alternative is to replace it or get it repaired. And this will cost more than the monitor.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Cost? Guaranteed more than the cost of a new monitor. I cannot give you a price because of the availability of parts, labor costs in your area, and such. But it WILL be more than a new monitor.

Is my laptop screen a LCD or LED ?

Q. I'm looking to replace my screen but do not want to buy the wrong screen

This is my laptop
http://www.flickr.com/photos/72578392@N08/6545690591/
And here is the one I want to replace it with
http://www.amazon.com/INSPIRON-B156XW02-LAPTOP-SUBSTITUTE-REPLACEMENT/dp/B004JRDQQU/ref=pd_cp_e_1

Are these two the same ?

A. Without even looking at the links you provided I can tell you with absolute certainty that both are LCD.

ALL current screens are LCD.

where "LED" gets involved is that older LCD displays are back-lit by Cold Cathode Florescent tubes
while newer ones are backlit by LED's

Sales and marketing people intentionally (or ignorantly) blur this dinction and sell
"LED Back-lit Monitors" as "LED monitors" which is something they are certainly NOT,
because the latter does not currently exsist as a common consumer item
(unless you are wiling to pony up ~$18,000(US) for such a display...)

There are no current "pure" LED displays as "production" items.

Allegedly there will be some on the marketed mid 2012, but only time will tell if that happens or not.

That all being said:
http://www.amazon.com/INSPIRON-B156XW02-LAPTOP-SUBSTITUTE-REPLACEMENT/dp/B004JRDQQU/ref=pd_cp_e_1

States "LCD" in the description

The Dell 1545 was sold with both florescent (CCF) in two different resolutions
and an optional LED backlit display. (in the higher resolution)

I don't know about the compatibility between the different displays or retrofitting displays

Which has better global picture quality? An IPS LCD or an nowadays LED screen?
Q. I'm asking this because I know people who work with graphics still pictures, film edition, etc love LCD screens with IPS technology. However current LCD screens are newer.

Thank you vey much.

A. I like IPS because they seem to have a more vivid picture, this is one I have been looking at with a really small bezel http://httgo.co/2012/11/thin-borderless-ips-23-inch-monitor-by-aoc/

How do you clean a LCD monitor?

Q. I have a LCD monitor and was wondering how do you clean it.

A. CLEAN LCD SCREENS

Lightly spray windex on a really soft cloth and wipe the screen. Do not spray directly on the screen.

Be very careful not to press very hard or you'll damage areas of the screen.

You can buy a monitor protector to place over your screen. Another way is to cut out a piece of clear plexiglass slightly larger than the screen area and attach the plexiglass to the monitor with double-faced tape. This will keep people from pokiung the screen with their fingers and spraying the screen when they cough or sneeze.

How badly do large LCD monitors use graphics power?
Q. I have a 17" Flatscreen CRT (HP Pavilion mx704) and play games on an nVidia 7600GS. I planned on buying a 22" LCD (Samsung 2253BW) until I realised that this could dramatically effect my graphics card. I play Call Of Duty 4 and Battlefield 2142 on the highest settings but only just make it.

I want to keep the same video settings in the game and have the same experience. Would keeping the original settings (including the low screen resolution settings I used on my CRT) make the game run the same?

A. You can run the same resolution on the LCD as you did on the CRT, but you probably won't want to.

First of all, the LCD is going to have a different aspect ratio (16:10) from the CRT (4:3), so everything is going to look stretched out on the LCD. Also, since the screen's native resolution (i.e. the number of pixels across the screen) will not match the graphics card's resolution, the picture won't be terribly clear.

I was going to suggest testing the CRT with your future LCD's resolution (1680x1050), but I looked up the specs for your CRT and it won't handle that resolution with any refresh rates. What I would recommend is to search the web for some reviews of your video card to see what sort of performance they've found at that resolution (or the next higher, if they don't test that one). My guess is, though, that if you only "just make it" with your current settings, then you're going to want to upgrade your video card if you go for the larger monitor.

buying an LCD monitor vs HDTV?

Q. Hey everybody, I just finished building a Media Center pc, and was wondering which technology I should go with, LCD monitor or HDTV.

1. My understanding is that an HDTV is just the same as an LCD monitor, except it includes a tuner and some extra inputs, correct?

2. If I buy a monitor it will be native at 1920x1080 or higher, so there shouldn't be a noticeable difference in quality from an "HD" TV right?

3. Know any good quality PCI-E tv tuner cards?

Thanks, Tim Otto

A. Your pretty much correct all-though if you plan on watching video some monitors have a terrible response time which would give you a pixelated and blurry image when watching things move around on the screen quickly. Try to get a monitor or HDTV with a 6ms response time or better. (lower the better).
I do installation for Digital EDGE in Maryland www.GetDtvReady.com and I can tell you that LCD tvs with bad pixel response time will really disappoint you.

good monitor for accurate digital photography color management?

Q. just what it says. I am only into photography a year or so but am starting to be good enough to worry color management. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced monitor? Also I use Adobe elements 5 for editing and filing. Thanks

A. I agree that CRT monitors are better in color than any LCD monitor. If you must have CRT monitors, look for an "aperture grille" CRT instead of the cheaper "shadow mask" CRTs. Unfortunately these are not in production anymore in favor of LCDs and you'll be having a hard time to look for one.

The last time I check, I think Iiyama still have aperture grille CRTs listed on their website, but the prices are pretty expensive.

If LCD is your only options, you can look for higher end LCDs that uses S-IPS panel. These are regarded as the best type of LCDs - although S-PVA and P-MVA panels are catching up pretty quickly. Stay away from the cheaper TN panel because it produces inferior color and viewing angle.

I myself using a Dell 2407FPW - which uses a S-PVA and I find it pretty pleasing. The bigger brother 3007FPW however uses a S-IPS panel. As far as I'm concern, I think the Apple Cinema Display also uses S-IPS panel.

I hope this helps.

can the canon rebel xti take picture from the lcd monitor?
Q. im planning to buy it but im not sure....
oh cause i read in this one review that he "Would like to be able to take photos from the LCD display and have a forced flash"

A. No professional photographer I know of (and I am a working professional) would want to use the so called live view feature except for close-up photography using a tripod, and even under those conditions, using the LCD monitor to view is not any kind of a necessity.
In bright light it is almost impossible to see an image on an LCD monitor. If you will be doing primarily close-up indoor photography using a tripod, you might like the live view feature. Otherwise don't let it be a factor when selecting your camera. It is one of those relatively useless features that make for good advertising and a higher price, but really don't add much to the camera's flexibilities. And just a word to the wise... never buy a digital camera (even a simple point and shoot) that does not have some kind of a peep sight. Without a peep sight, you won't see most pictures you will take until after you have taken them.

I love it., August 15, 2008
By M. Wang (CT United States) - See all my reviews

It's big, bright, fast, beautiful and did I mention it's big? I mean two side-by-side magnified A4 documents big. The $1100 price is great too compared to other 30" models.

The reason why this monitor is considered obsolete by Dell is the complaints from videophiles about its lack of connectivity options. Specifically, dual-link DVI is the only way in. So, if you are planning on connecting game machines or BlueRay drives or HD cable boxes via HDMI, you are out of luck. But, why would you want to do that? Even full HD video only goes up to 1920x1080. This monitor does 2560x1600. It makes a lot more sense to pay $800 for a 42" 1080p LCD TV, which is bigger and better for viewing video anyway. This is an ultra-high-resolution monitor, pure and simple, and I love it for doing a good job there.

===== Added 11/29/2008 =====

As the channel runs low on stock of this monitor, the Gateway XHD3000 30" Widescreen HD LCD Monitor becomes a better value. The latter, however, does not employ the S-IPS panel from LG, which is generally considered the best and most expensive LCD technology as of 2008. This is another reason why some 30" monitors are still a good buy in my mind even though 24" models are selling for under $300 nowadays. Those cheap monitors use TN panels, with poor color, contrast and viewing angles. Smaller S-IPS monitors (e.g. HP LP2475W 24in LCD Monitor 1920X1200 and Planar PX2611W 26-Inch Widescreen Digital/Analog with Height Adjust Stand (Black)) still cost $600+ and are becoming scarcer by the day due to the competition from its cheaper cousins. Even Samsung, which holds the patents for the middling S-PVA technology, has been introducing TN models.

How can I optimize my monitor resolution with my Macbook Pro?
Q. I have a 23" ASUS LCD monitor that I was using via HDMI with my PC. Now I have a Macbook, and the monitor is hooked up via the HDMI/DVI adapter, but the resolution, even set at 720 on isn't nearly as good as before. Am I stuck with this or is there a way to get the external display looking as good as it did with PC?

A. 23" monitors are usually 1920X1080 not 720p (1280X720)
try setting it to 1920X1080.

Will using an LCD monitor with my Xbox 360 be any improvement on SDTV by itself?

Q. I was thinking of buying an LCD monitor to dedicate to my Xbox 360 and wondered if this enhances the image quality at all compared to bog standard SDTV's, etc?

Also, is there such a thing as an HD Monitor and if so where can I find one in the UK?

Thanks.
In replying to the 2nd answer, so if it has a resolution of 1280x1024 thats HD?

A. Mostly all new monitors use HD resolution now standard, getting a lcd will improve the quality as it will be HD, you have to look for one that has 1080i or 720p.

HDTV has two official resolutions, 1280x720 progressive and 1920x1080 interkaced or psf (progressive with segmented frames, like film). (YES I KNOW there is also 1080p but the above 2 are good enough)

Get a monitor that does either of these (or above) and your good to go.

EDIT= to find one go to pcworld they will be helpful there I recomend the purchace :)

which is the best LCD monitor for graphic designing?
Q.

A. remember one thing when it comes to lcd,s....you get what you pay for.....the better lcd,s are not cheap

here is one place you can learn some about lcd,s,,,and find some good ones
http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/

If you want an LCD for photo editing, you need a panel that will display, true, accurate, consistent colours, brightly and evenly.

These LCD are all based on either the VA or IPS panel technologies. You can expect to pay at least double, and sometime 10 times the price for very high quality panels based on these technologies as opposed to the cheaper TN based LCD panel of the same size.

The Eizo ColorEdge Series: CG220, CG210, CE240W, CE210W = $$$$. After that, the Eizo Flexscan series and Apple Cinema displays.

A. Movers & packers, GATI, DHL, Blue DART all are good ppl in the business..they mite cost u a bit high but then its better than to get ur PC courier with a broken monitor or stuff like that...

Tv vs lcd monitor for gaming?

Q. I was recently wondering What is better for gaming and less delay. Ussually delay is not noticed by regular day to day gamers but it is crutial when playing a first person shooter.
I was wondering what a typical response time is for a xbox 360 hooked to a lcd tv vs a game consle hooked up to a lcd computer monitor. I am a hardcore gamer and I want to have the least delay possible.I really want a bigger screen size but I will sacrifice screen size over performance by buying a monitor if necessary. I have heard of the newer tv's with a (game mode) but I am skeptical if it is the m/s response time of a monitor. If anyone can help me ty.

A. I have a big deal for you, Panasonic TC-L32X2 LCD HDTV 32 inches for just $329 or Panasonic TC-L37X2 LCD HDTV 37 inches for just $459 with game mode feature available in both of them the dark images in video games are more clear, besides it offers a wide viewing angle 178° so you can view the full image even if you' re not facing the screen. LCD or LED pc monitor for gaming?
Q. I plan on getting a 30' monitor which one LCD or LED for gaming?

A. They will both be LCD - that's the display technology that all flatscreen monitors use.
LED or not is to do with the backlighting.

The LED one uses LED lights as the backlight
The non-LED one used a fluorescent light as the backlight.

It is more important to choose one with a good contrast ratio and fast reponse time.
Monitors with slow response times will show a ghosted blurry image in fast moving screen action. Monitors with low contrast ratio will have blacks that are dark grey and colours that look washed out.

Ideally you want a high contrast ratio, a fast response time and LED backlight.

what is the disadvantages of LCD monitor?

Q.

A. While LCD monitors have a lot of strengths, they still have weaknesses that might turn off potential buyers. However, it's our opinion that these disadvantages don't really detract from the benefits of using an LCD monitor.

* More expensive than CRTs. You pay for what you get; LCDs look good and are good for your eyes (see Advantages article).
* Dead pixels. When the electrical current to one or more pixels does not operate properly, one or more cells are permanently aligned, resulting in a dead pixel.
* Screen care and fragility. LCD monitors may be slim and sexy, but they're also more prone to damage and screen breakage.
* Native resolution. LCD monitors can only display information well at the resolution they were designed for. At any other resolution, image quality will suffer.
* Pixel response time. In videos and fast-paced video games, LCDs suffer from the ghosting effect.
* Viewing angles. Looking at an LCD monitor from an angle causes the image to look dimmer or even disappear completely.
* Colors. The color accuracy of an LCD monitor does not match that of a CRT monitor's.

LCD monitor better for the eyes?
Q. I'm buying a new monitor for my pc and i want to know what distinguishes LCD monitors over the normal ones besides the size issue... Are they healthier for the eyes? more efficient? BTW, i heard they are not as durable as CRT , is it true?

A. LCD has better pictures, CRT may be a little better on eyes, but you can control brightness on an LCD. Don't buy a CRT because they are so outdated. Buy an LCD, you won't regret it!!!

White vertical lines on an LCD monitor?

Q. Hi there-

Recently one of my monitors has started malfunctioning.

All dark colors are replaced with shimmering white vertical lines, making text unreadable and normal operation impossible.

The monitor is connected with a DVI connection. It still has the same problem when connected to other computers.

Should I bring it in for repair? Would this kind of malfunction even be fixable?

A. It may be fixable, but likely not worth the money unless it's a very large, very new monitor. It'll probably cost a couple hundred bucks unless it's still under warranty.

xbox 360 to lcd monitor?
Q. whats the best way to connect my xbox 360 pro to my 19" LCD widescreen computer monitor? (the monitor has 1 vga input and 1 dvi input currently used by my computer)

i ordered the vga cable on trademe (similar to ebay) to find that i just got a 3rd party vga hd av cable (i think that's what its called)

should i return it and get an official one from town or buy a hdmi to dvi cable, also which resolutions would the hdmi to dvi support?

A. Just use the VGA cable. HDMI is not really necessary on the XBox anyway since it does not have anything that requires HDCP.

Give the third-party cable a try. If it works, no sense spending more money for the Microsoft cable.

Lcd full hd tv as pc monitor?

Q. I want to buy small 22 inch tv.Now is there big difference between my 19 inch monitor and tv?.Will my eyes burn if i sit 40 cm next to him?

A. There is very small difference. You should be fine, so long as it is a 1080p native display.

Is a full HD monitor worth it?
Q. I currently hve a monitor that supports 1280*1024 and it is 19 inches, it is an old monitor though. Would I see a big difference in picture if I got a full HD 1080p 22inch monitor?

A. 1080p High Definition (1920x1080 resolution) on a small 22-inch monitor means the pixels are going to be extra-tiny. Personally my eyes can't take such small pixels because the text will be very small at standard settings.

Better go to a computer store that has a 22-inch 1080p monitor on display so you can see it for yourself before you buy.

Me, I run 1920x1080 resolution on a 52-inch LCD. Text is nice and big and easy to read. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpg

Need to find an LCD monitor with...?

Q. I need an LCD computer monitor that is 22.5" (viewing area)

It needs a VGA (or preferably an HDMI port)
The rest is optional, but I'd prefer it to be a thin monitor, not so bulky as I don't have much space.

I'm having trouble finding something like this because of the unorthodox size. It cannot be larger, and cannot be smaller. Help me find something! I need links or exact names, for searching purposes :P

A. The viewsonic 23" LED LCD monitor is 22.5" viewing area

Is switching from a LCD HD to an LED HD computer monitor an unnecessary expense?
Q. I currently have an LCD monitor which works pretty well as of now. I have no problems with it whatsoever. However, I've heard that LEDs are much better than LCDs. Would it be worth it for me to switch? Would it be an unnecessary expense?

A. Both monitors are "LCD" the ones sold as "LED" are the only ones generally available on the market

the DIFFERENCE is that the older "LCD" monitors are backlit with florescent tubes
the "LED" which are really LED-LCD, are lit with white LED's which use less power

My current LED-LCD monitor uses about 7 watts

The LCD (Florescent backlit) monitor used 25watts

The old CRT I got rid of six years ago used over 200

But it isn't only about power... what resolution is your old monitor?

Because you have to search long and hard to find a monitor that is not 1920x1080 these days...

And in that resolution you can buy a decent quality 24" monitor for $150 any day of the week. and you can often find them cheaper.

I bought a 23.7" ASUS monitor for my repair bench for $129 not too long ago

what's the advantage of having LCD monitors compared to CRT ones?

Q. I prefer CRT cos' it's clearer.

A. Aesthetics:

LCD monitors are aesthetically very pleasing to the eye being slim and stylish. There is no comparison with the CRT here. The current breed of LCD monitors has excellent colour combinations, and neat looking control panels. The weight of the LCD monitors is roughly 6-8 lbs for 15 inch models and slightly more for the 17 inch ones. Since it is very light it can be handled very comfortably even by a lady. Some manufacturers have come up with an outboard power supply thus reducing the thickness of the panel which now can be had at less than an inch!

Angle of view: Although the CRT monitors lead the way in this department, the viewing angle on LCD monitors is getting wider and wider and current models offer over 160 degrees. For all practical purposes that is more than sufficient for any user. Therefore the angle of view is not a major concern anymore as it used to be when LCD monitors initially emerged in the marketplace.

Colour Purity:

This is where the CRT monitors take a clear advantage. However the best LCD monitors are very good and for an average user the difference is hardly noticeable in side by side comparison. The difference can vary from slight to significant depending on the quality of the LCD monitor used in comparison.

Contrast:

Traditionally the CRT monitors always had better contrast and LCD monitors were lagging behind. Recently some of the best LCD monitors have come very close and according to some they match what the CRT is capable of in terms of contrast. This aspect of the monitor helps in correct tonal characteristics in low light situations. A high contrast monitor is likely to produce black as black rather than dark grey. High contrast is most important for gaming and movie playback.

Dead Pixels:

What are Dead Pixels? Dead Pixels are simply pixels on the LCD monitors that do not function. Dead Pixels are not repairable hence they stay there for good. Dead Pixels can easily be identified in programs with white background; you can spot them in the same place every time you switch on your system. In the early days the issue of dead pixels on LCD monitors was a big one confronting most of the manufacturers, however, the manufacturing practices have greatly improved over time and dead pixel issue is very much controlled based on the experience gained. Still many manufacturers themselves are confused as to the Warranty Policies they need to enact for replacement of those monitors with dead pixels. The top manufacturers have no problem replacing the monitor within the warranty period. So when shopping for an LCD monitor check the dead pixel policy indicated in the warranty. Also check for dead pixels once you install it in your system. If you spot a dead pixel within the warranty period get a replacement.

Energy Requirements:

LCD monitors are extremely economical when it comes to power consumption. Their consumption is in the region of 25 -50 watts compared to CRT which consume like 60-80 watts for a 15 inch model to almost 70 to 150 for 17 and 19 inch models.

Image Brightness: LCD Monitors win hands down in this department. They offer almost twice the brightness compared to the CRT monitor. If you use the system in a brightly lit room or with plenty of sunshine coming through the window LCD is the best choice.

Magnetic Interference:

Again the CRT looses out in this department too. LCD monitors are not affected by the magnetic interference at all. Many of the LCD monitors come with stereo speakers built-in and need not be shielded for magnetic interference. Shielding the speakers makes them very costly, thus the savings can be either passed on to the consumer or spent by manufacturer elsewhere in a more effective way.

Response Time:

As mentioned in the beginning of this article the response time of the LCD monitor is crucial for the gamers and movie buffs. Response time refers to updating of the pixel colours. Ghosting or trailing effects start to become evident when the response time slows down to 20 ms. One should definitely look for monitors offering 16ms or even 12 ms response time. We may even see monitors in near future with response times in single digits!

Screen Flicker:

One of the most annoying things on the CRT monitor which we all had to suffer was the flickering effect, in other words the low refresh rates. This contributed towards headaches which users experienced on a daily basis. This aspect was also responsible for lower productivity. CRT does not have an advantage when it comes to the flickering effect. By default windows always sets the refresh rate at 60 Hz, until you install your monitor and it detects the configuration file and sets the refresh rate based on factory setting of the monitor in question. The VESA standard states that the minimum refresh rate to avoid eye strain is 72 Hz. Some of the good CRT monitors can go much higher. Ideally a refresh rate of 85 Hz should be OK for most people using 17 inch monitors. Due to difference in technology the LCD Monitors are clear winners as refresh rate is not an issue with them. Normally you get a choice of two different refresh rates on the LCD monitor but it is best to go with the recommendations of the manufacturer.

17" tft monitor Vs LCD monitor?
Q. Is it Ok to dispose off my 17" TFT monitor (Samsung syncmaster) and go for a 17" or above LCD monitor? will it be beneficial in any way? space is not much of a problem.

A. I have a Samsung SyncMaster 2032MW (1680x1050 Resolution : 720p / 1080i) 20" widescreen.

LCD monitors are more vibrant. Hey if you use it as a PC monitor, you should consider getting the Samsung SyncMaster 2032MW. It has high resolution considering it is not full HD.

Also if you have a Xbox 360 or PS3 you can get HD out of it. :)

I am crying. LCD Monitor in us is half the price of india.?

Q. lcd monitor 22" or 24" costs double in india
i cant use shipping service, its too costly.

A. Buy a CRT monitor. Be happy you guys still have them. The picture quality is better anyway.

Best LCD monitor in the price range between Rs 15k to 25k?
Q. I'm looking to purchase an LCD monitor (21.5, 22 or 23 inch) with 1080p 16:9 res. Refresh rate of 2ms is preferable but not mandatory. The Samsung XL2370 or PX2370 which I surely would have purchased is not available in India. Right now I'm looking at the Dell SP2309W. But the issue with that resolution is much higher than 1080p which is large for a 23 inch monitor.

A. The following list provides prices of monitors with a resolution depth of 1920x1080 http://www.priceguide.in/monitor-resolution/1920x1080/. The Samsung P2350 and Acer V233H are 23 inch monitors where as the rest are 21.5 inches. Probably check out their specifications and see if they meet your requirements?

why does my LCD screen have lag time when I use it as a PC monitor?

Q. I connected my new LCD screen into my xbox. Works fantastic. Works fantastic with the Blue ray player I just bought and TV. The only issue I have is when I use it as a monitor for my PC. It lags just a tiny bit. This TV is brand new, I just don't get it? How can I get it to work just as great as everything else?

A. Monitors are made with low input lag times, I don't know why this is not the case for TVs but I assume that it's because PC is more for hardcore gamers who play seriously. Maybe the input lag from a controller to the xbox is lower than that of a mouse. Another thing is FPS, if you get low fps on a game you will suffer lag on your display device. Sorry I couldnt be certain but it might be worth getting a budget monitor

How do I get more refresh rate options...monitor drivers?
Q. I have an LG L1732TQ monitor and its lagging really bad on high content websites. I just upgraded to a new desktop so I'm guessing I need drivers for it? Anybody have them?
The page will completely load but when i scroll up and down the page will jump slowly from spot to spot not just scroll smoothly.

A. What do you mean by lagging? Refresh rates don't really matter on lcd monitors since "lcd refresh rates" are totally different from "crt refresh rates." Perhaps you're experiencing input lag?

Drivers can be found here: http://driverscollection.com/?H=L1732TQ&By=LG

Which is better? Hp mx703 CRT Monitor or Hp 1502 LCD Monitor?

Q. I have a Hp mx703 CRT Monitor and Hp 1502 LCD Monitor and I want to know which one is better in gaming and everyday use. Thanks in replies

A. As I mentioned in your other question, that monitor can do up to 1280x1024 @ 60 Hz. It can also multisync to 1152x864 @ 75 Hz, or 1024x768 @ 60, 75 or 85 Hz.
The LCD has a native resolution of 1024x768 @ 60 Hz.
The CRT has a larger screen than that 15" LCD as well.
The LCD is a slightly older model, and as such probably has a response time, viewing angle, and contrast that is lower than that of newer LCDs. CRT monitors have excellent response time and very deep contrast as well as great color fidelity, better than any LCD.
CRTs are popular among gamers because of their very fast response times: no motion blur or lag. They are also very popular among video editors and the printing industry because of their great contrast and color.

Go with the CRT.

What kind of lcd monitors are suitable for ps3 gaming?

Q. what kind of lcd monitors are suitable for ps3 gaming? just need to make sure it has a dvi or hdmi port right? and make sure it is hdcp compliant right? is the aspect ratio important? what about things like 720p etc
if a monitor supports only 1280x1024 resolution, which is 4:3 (right?), is it still compatible with ps3 gaming?

A. It should be HDCP compliant and ideally have a HDMI input, but DVI will work as well. If it only has VGA input (almost all new monitors now have at least one digital input) then you will need to use a transcoder box.
Many PS3 games are in 16:9 widescreen, so ideally you would want a monitor in that aspect ratio. Any resolution should look fine, but 1920x1080 resolution is needed to fully resolve every pixel in 1080p games. Anything higher than 1920x1080 is unnecessary and may actually degrade picture quality.
Fast response time is an important specification on LCD/LED monitors as well. Ideally, it should be no greater than 5 milliseconds.
LED monitors offer better contrast and color, but are more expensive than conventional LCD monitors.

A SXGA (1280x1024) monitor should be able to play the games, but you will either have letterboxing (black bars at the top and bottom) or a vertically stretched picture. SXGA monitors can display 720p perfectly. Set the aspect ratio of the game to 4:3 or Full if possible. Note that many LCD SXGA monitors are actually 5:4 aspect ratio.

which is better tft/lcd monitor with tv tuner or lcd/tv to be used for PC and TV?

Q. Plasma and DLP technology are not involved.

A. It depends on which is more important to you, using it as a TV, or using it as a monitor.

If you get a monitor and use your PC to receieve the television signal, it will be a great monitor (higher resolution, easier to read text) but the TV will be jaggie and have artifacts.

If you get an LCD TV, the hardware scaler will make it a great TV, but by definition, the resolution will be that of a television. That means as a monitor, the text will be hard to read and it will drop lines of resolution.

So if you use it mostly as a monitor, buy a monitor. If you use it mostly as a TV, get the LCD tv.

PS3 on LCD Monitor?
Q. I've heard bad things about connecting XBOX360's to LCD monitor, that it displays weird bars and has odd resolution and whatnot,

but how about the PS3?

in a few years i plan to get a PS3, and put it right next to my computer, and have it share the monitor - my monitor is a 20.1 Widescreen HP with standard DVI and VGA, and 1650x1050 resolution.

will it work right? It should....
it will display black bars on the bottom on top because the monitor is 16:10, but thats expected. anything else i should know?

A. The main thing with PC LCD monitors, is that in order for it to work with the PS3, the monitor has to be HDCP compliant.

The monitor could have every type of connection known to man, but if it isn't HDCP compliant, the PS3 WILL NOT WORK with that monitor.

In other words, if your monitor is HDCP compliant than you'll be fine, otherwise, you'll need to go out and get a monitor that's HDCP compliant if you're planning to hook up your PS3 to it.

HOPE THIS HELPS!

LCD monitor exploded?

Q. This was over a year ago but I was wondering what it could of been, this also happened to me on a very old CRT monitor. I bought a new LCD 19inch monitor for my computer and after 3 months of use, the screen went black and it a loud popping noise came from the back, and then each time I plugged in the power it smells so bad, just wondering what this could of been and what caused it.
It had been on for 9hours at the time, im not looking for a fix though as I got it replaced
No fire or smoke, just bad smell

A. Power transformer for the LCD likely went bad, the windings shorted out, and the transformer cooked itself.

The LCD uses a transformer and an inverter to reduce the voltage and convert it from AC to DC.

You are actually really lucky it did not catch on fire. I would have instantly called the manufacturer and complained, and reported it to the US CPSC.

My 19 inch LCD monitor has "stuck Pixels" how can fix this?
Q.

A. If your LCD screen has a stuck or dead pixel , it's usually malfunctioning because the liquid in the liquid crystal display (TFT LCD) has not covered the whole screen. This can be easily fixed.

Steps
Turn off your computer monitor.
Get yourself a damp cloth, so that you don't scratch your screen.
Apply pressure to the area where the stuck pixel is. Do not put pressure anywhere else, as this may make more stuck pixels.
While applying pressure, turn on your computer and screen.
Remove pressure and the stuck pixel should be gone. This works as the liquid in the liquid crystal has not spread into each little pixel. This liquid is used with the backlight on your monitor, allowing different amounts of light through, which creates the different colours.

Tips
Many people report success with this technique but these instructions won't work in every case.
These instructions will fix "stuck" pixels, not "dead" ones. Dead pixels appear black while stuck pixels can be one constant color like red, blue or green.
An alternative, but similar technique involves gently massaging the stuck pixel on your screen. Another method involves playing a video (available for download in external links below) which changes colors 30 times per second.
If these instructions don't work, you can hopefully get the monitor fixed through your manufacturer. Follow the link at the bottom of the page to the Tom's Hardware article on how many pixels it takes for your specific manufacturer to replace the whole monitor. If your monitor falls under the specifications of replacement, get in contact with the manufacturer to set up replacement plans.
Gently tapping the area can also work in some cases.
You can find a program for removal at this site: http://fixdeadpixels.uv.ro. Put the colour square from the "dead pixel remover" on the actual stuck pixel from your screen.

Warnings
Do not attempt to open the monitor as it will void the warranty and the manufacturer will not replace it.
Make sure you don't get any electrical equipment wet or it may break.

LCD monitor selection!?
Q. Just received a Sapphire Radeon 4830 512MB gpu. Ordered on the basis that I would be playing games on my 17inch montor....but now it's dead.Have to get a new monitor preferably a LCD. Which LCD monitor would best go with this card? I liked the 20inch Benq E2200HD, but will it pressurize tooo much on this gpu...the resolution?? like at 1680???, or should i get the 19inchs DELL SE198WFP or HP W1907??? I intend playing Cod4&5, Crysis:WH, HAWX......help me out.....

A. Firstly, your Radeon 4830 is fine in terms of resolution for any lcd monitor up to 24". If you're gonna use your new monitor primarily for gaming I would suggest one with low latency (which pretty much all new lcds have) and even more important little or no input/outputlag (the lag of your mouse input until it reacts, its a big issue for some new monitors). That being said, I recommend the LG L227WT as its one of the very few that does not only have low latency but also no measurable input lag.

However, there are others which are suitable at well, I suggest you checkout http://prad.de/en/monitore/buyers-guide/gamer20.html - they have a list of the best gaming monitors for every size as well as detailed reviews.

http://www.compusa.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2707960&CatId=1427

i have a lcd computer screen laying around and i wanna turn it into a tv sience i dont use desktop pc anymore, please links to stores electronic stores or online websites for cheap but working tv tuner boxes with remote any help at all would be apreciated or if there is any other way to connect with out tuner box any tricks or connections any info welcomed

one problem my screen doesnt have speakers so the idea of dvd/vcr combo doesnt help becouse there is no way to connect speakers to it........

A. The best way is to just go out and get a DVD/VCR combo box. It has a tuner in it. You will also need a cable that goes from the S-video or VGA outputs on the back of the VCR to the monitor cable.

This is what I did, and I like it. Instead of just a tuner, I also have DVD/VCR capability.

Sansui HD LCD TV/DVD combo question (MP3,JPEG,WMA)?
Q. My uncle bought a Sansui HD LCD TV/DVD combo tv like a month ago and the box says that MP3,JPEG,and WMA,So what's JPEG and WMA? And where do u connent it to cuz my uncle lost the book that tells u how to do it.

A. jpeg: joint photographic experts group and wma: windows media audio. meaning his computer can plug up to the tv through certain cords (which usuall doesnt come w/ the tv) to view a bigger "computer monitor" or the tv. ask the retailer or best buy or radio shack, etc if they have these compatiable cords and how to plug em up, b/c they could better explain then i could through text.

3D on regular LCD monitor?

Q. I've never watched a 3D movie, I plan to go for Avatar in 3D (But my girl keeps making excuses), I just wanted to know how much good or bad is the 3D on regular LCD monitor from watching it in a movie theater?

A. 3D in a movie theater is done with polarized light. The glasses you wear have grey lenses (because they're polarized). The colors are perfect.

3D on a conventional monitor is done with red and blue outlining. There's some color loss because you're watching the screen through red and blue lenses, but you still get the 3D effect.

HDTV vs LCD Monitors?
Q. I have been wondering about HDTV quality vs LCD Screen Monitors quality? And the difference in DPI? Are they comparable? Would it be a better investment to go with th HDTV for a bigger screen for a computer or LCD? Whats the biggest difference?

A. There is a huge difference between a HDTV and LCD monitor. One is meant for movies, gaming, tv. The other is designed for computers. How big of a monitor are you looking for? How much are you planning on spending?

24" Dell LCD monitors are affordable and are less expensive than a 24" LCD TV. TV tuners and additional electronics in a TV add to the cost. If you are not going to watch TV or play console games, then buy a LCD computer monitor. If you are, then buy an LCD TV. There is no point in buying a more expensive product, when you are not going to be using all its features.

It's practicality and purpose. It's kinda hard to view a 32" LCD monitor, when you are only 3 feet away from the screen.

Quality-wise...they are the same, if we are comparing an HDTV LCD and LCD monitor. It's all about cost and footprint.

Can you use a computer LCD monitor with the xbox 360?

Q.

A. Yes, 100%.you can use your computer LCD monitor with the xbox360 and the great news is that you will will get HD graphics on ur LCD monitor.but brother you have to buy a XBOX360 VGA HD AV cable to use it .

It cost 18 dollars .its not $40 .it was 40 when it first came to the market but now its 18 dollars.

There is no problem with the video connection .bcz you can connect it to your LCD monitor directly with the help of XBOX360 VGA HD AV CABLE.

But there is a problem with audio output .you must have a surround system speakers or other speakers to which the audio jacks should be connected and the audio jacks are the ones which comes with AV cable.i mean you must have the speakers which must have the input ports for the audio jacks i have mentioned.

I am also using my LCD monitor.

I hope this will help you my brother.

Take care bro.

Whats the best LCD monitor for Xbox 360?
Q. I am looking for a LCD monitor to play my xbox 360. I am looking for a monitor anywhere between 22"-26". My price range is anything less than $400-$500. But I would love to find a really good monitor for a very cheap price like $200-$300. Im looking for great graphics and a TV tuner. Thanks
Also the monitor needs to be 1080p just because the graphics would look sick and have a good response time.

A. I fgot a 22" samsung LCD, i also got the 52" version,
Both are very nice to play the xbox on.

The only downside is with both (so MAYBE my xbox fault) is i get a "line" (1" by the full width) on the bottem section of the screen. It happends now and then. Itthat distorts the the game, but it shows up once every 2 hours for like 4secs.

Looking for new tv 3DDDD?

Q. Looking for a new tv, 50-60" but dont really know which brands, types, and sizes are the best for their money. Any suggestions would be great, thanks =)

A. Well depends what you will use it for ,if you play a lot of games ,then you want an LCD or LED ,but if you want it for movies and regular TV then a plasma is the way to go ,plasmas have a better picture and deeper colors than the LCD or LED ,but if you are using it for games or as a PC monitor ,it's going to leave burn marks on the screen. Another thing is that LED ,LCD use less power than plasmas, though the new ones are more energy efficient. I would also wait til black friday to make a purchase because that's the time when they're usually cheaper. From what I've seen online and from what people tell me the best plasmas in 3D right now are the Panasonic 2011 and 2012 models ,they have the best picture of all the other plasmas ,even better than the leading Samsung and I think some of them have the bundle that comes with the free glasses. The best LED ,LCD are the ,the Samsung D8000 or the Sony KDLH850 series, because of the picture and features ,there's another also the Sharp Elite pro ,but that's like 4000+ dollars. But I would advice you to go to cnet.com and see the TV reviews for yourself. http://reviews.cnet.com/tvs/#sort=edRating7%20desc

Good luck.

Yes, I've heard of Steam. I'm looking for a list or any recommendations of games I can run at the moment, yes I know this graphics card is horrible and I'm going to try to add on a different card, but in the meantime I'd like to know what I can run at the moment.

A. Nothing close to high end. You have no video card, only Intel integrated graphics

If you want to play modern games, you need to buy and install a decent video card (and most likely the power supply too)

which is the best inexpensive LCD monitor for video editing.?

Q. I am about to purchase a larger monitor than my current 17 inch CRT monitor. I would like to change to a 19 or 20 inch LCD. The main use would be for photo editing using adobe photoshop CS and video editing using Adobe elements

A. Well the monitiors that I use with my Mac G5 are from Sams Club. I bought the Samsung Sync Master916v. I set them as a Dual Display setup side by side and they work GREAT. To my knowledge they were less then $300.00 each. Plus they come with a full 1 year return policy from Sams not including the warranty from Samsung..

How do I hook up 2 LCD's for trading in the markets?
Q. Hi, I got 2 brand new LCD monitors. Now I want to hook them up for trading. How do I do this? Am I going to need 2 separate video cards? I want the displays to show different information on each screens - not share a desktop.
My video card doesn't have two video outs. It's about 3 years old. I can't afford a new desktop. Anything I can do with what I already have?
I don't have PCI-E on this desktop, but maybe AGP - have to check. If I don't have PCI-E or AGP, am I needing to fork out some cash for a new desktop? (Major ouch)

A. You need a video card that can support two monitors.

The majority of current video cards out there support dual monitors-- They have two video output jacks, either two DVI, or one DVI / one VGA.

If all you are going to do is run your online trading software, then just get something like this if you have PCI Express: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161219

Or something like this if you have AGP: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814102814

With a video card that supports two monitors, all you have to do is go into Display Properties in Windows and set it to run in extended desktop mode, and the two monitors will be able to display different information on each screen.

EDITED TO ADD: If your computer has a PCI Express 16x slot or an AGP slot, you don't need a new computer. Just buy a new video card. Both video cards I linked to for you cost under $100. About what you would pay for a single share of AAPL or IBM. :-D

why buy a tiny monitor ? why not hook up a computer to a big lcd or led tv ?

Q.

A. Because, believe it or not, most monitors have higher resolutions than even an HDTV.

An HDTV, for example, runs at 1080 lines of resolution (hence the 1080i or 1080p). My 24" monitor, on the other hand, is running at 1680 x 1050, or 1680 lines of resolution! That's 600 lines of resolution more than an HDTV, meaning that my picture is sharper. Real high end monitors can have resolutions that double (or more) the resolution of a normal HDTV. For gamers, graphic artists and anyone who spends a lot of time staring at their monitors, the higher resolution is better looking than is possible on a big TV.

That's why good monitors at smaller sizes can cost a bit more than good HDTVs at larger sizes... the quality and resolution of the screens in the monitors is actually better than the screens in the televisions.

Someday, if HDTVs are updated and have higher resolution rates (maybe double what they are now), then people might start using the two interchangeably... but until then, most people will stick with the two individual devices for specific uses.

LCD or CRT is the best for a designer?
Q. I using a CRT - but want to replace by an LCD 17" - Could i do that? if yes, which one is the best? Thanks so much!

A. What are you designing? Many graphic artists, architects, etc. prefer CRTs because they can display at different resolutions natively, whereas LCDs must manipulate the image digitally to use a different fullscreen resolution (which reduces image quality). Also, if you are very picky, you will notice that on dark images, the screen is never lit completely evenly from behind on an LCD monitor, while the lighting is always even and accurate on a CRT. If you want an LCD, Apple (strangely enough) actually makes VERY nice LCD monitors, but they are on the pricey side.

Edit: also, make sure the LCD you get supports whatever output your video card has. If your video card has DVI, you are fine, as there are adapters to Analog. If you have only Analog output from your video card, make sure you get an LCD monitor that supports it.

How do I reset my LCD monitor to factory default settings?

Q. I was messing around with the brightness, contrast, etc. using the buttons on the front of the monitor and now my colors is all weird.
I really wish there was, but I've spend 2 hours on this, trying to get back to the original factory default settings. There is no "reset" option.

A. Go to the menu or settings, and hit Reset Factory Settings.

Fuzzy LCD monitor?
Q. I recently got a Viewsonic VA703b Antiglare LCD monitor in march, and about a month after I got it I started noticing that it was fuzzy. It's not that noticeable unless I'm viewing anything dark. I've tried tweaking the monitor settings, checking to make sure everything was plugged in right, trying it on a different (and better) computer, and pretty much everything else except changing the cord that hooks up through the monitor and computer. Could it possibly be a faulty monitor cord, or is it a defective monitor (or does this normally happen in LCD Monitors after a while)
It's at it's native resolution (1280 x 1024)
I've installed the video drivers
I've tried changing refresh rates

A. 1 thing you don't say that you checked is the image resolution.
An LCD has 1 native resolution, and this is the ONLY setting it will truly be clear on.

If it's a 17" normally this is 1280x1024, buth check it's specs.

Set video mode to this, and see if it helps, if not, it could eb the cable, or interference on the cable.

move video cable AWAY from power leads, if no luck, try to borrow a signal cable from a friend.
Still no luck, contact manuf support or shop from where you bought it

What does HDMI from graphic card to LCD monitor HDMI do?

Q. I just bought gold connected HDMI/HDMI cable so i could watch on HDTV and have 2 monitors, but now im wondering what does HDMI from graphic card output to HDMI LCD monitor output do?
Im guessing it makes it more HD or something i don't know, need some info on this please :s

A. Most LCDs have an HDMI input because that's preferable way to connect them. The HDMI output on your graphics card naturally requires an HDMI input from a TV or LCD monitor. HDMI is just a high definition / digital signal; providing the best picture quality. If you want the best picture quality for your LCD monitor, then obviously connect the HDMI cable into it. That's what it's there for. All HDMI connections are the same, doesn't matter if it's on a TV or LCD monitor. They do exactly the same thing: provide you with a high definition digital signal.

A. I believe that the monitor's that have the most accurate colour reproduction are IPS panel LCD monitors. One of the highest rated IPS monitors is the Dell Ultrasharp U2410. They are brilliant monitors and cost much less than professional grade monitors.

A. Yes, that configuration would play WoW and Borderlands 2 on ultra without lag.

But it's not the most cost-effective build for the money. You're burning money on things which don't improve performance and skimping in other areas you shouldn't.

First of all, dual GTX 550 Ti's is quite powerful. However, it's always better to have a single higher-end card than a pair of lesser cards running in SLI or Crossfire. SLI performance doesn't scale equally for all games. SLI/CF setups also experience more graphics driver glitches/bugs and also may run afoul of micro-stuttering. Instead of two GTX 550 Ti cards, you're better off with a single GTX 660, which can play top-end titles like BF3 on ultra at 1080p.

By the way, for WoW and Borderlands 2 on that 1366x768 monitor, even a single GTX 550 Ti is enough to run smoothly on ultra.

Second, AMD processors have weaker gaming performance than Intel. Core i5 is the best choice for gaming builds. Even Core i3 beats most AMD processors.

http://www.xbitlabs.com/articles/cpu/display/amd-fx-8120-6100-4100_6.html#sect0

Third, putting 16GB of RAM into a gaming rig is just wasting money. No games utilize more than 4GB of RAM. With 8GB you've got enough to keep your rig future-proof for the next 3-4 years. Gaming requires a high-end graphics

Fourth, you want a good quality power supply- something from a top brand like Corsair or Antec, not the generic one.

Finally, why do you have a secondary hard drive of 500GB? There's no reason for it... and unless you're storing a TON of videos and music, 2TB isn't needed for your main drive. A 1TB drive would be plenty. You might consider an SSD for super-fast boot times along with a 1TB secondary drive, but that's a degree of decadence you might not be interested in ;)

Instead of starting with the Mega Special I, start with the Mega Special III (base price $825)

I suggest taking the air cooling option - Cooler master Hyper 212 EVO rather than liquid cooling. That's fine even for moderate overclocking (which isn't necessary with a Core i5) and is basically zero maintenance.

Upgrade to the Corsair TX650 power supply and 2GB GTX 660 (which is currently a free upgrade from the GTX 560 Ti)

Keep the default Gigabyte GA-Z77-D3H motherboard and 8GB of 1600Mhz RAM... those are fine.

You can still chose the Raidmax Augusta case if you really like it... Otherwise the default Cooler Master HAF 912 is just as good and costs less.

Add 64-bit Windows 7, your Azza gaming keyboard and mouse, your 600W PMPO speakers (although I recommend at least getting the Creative T3130) and you're set.

You can choose their ultra care options, although they're pretty much a rip-off. The professional wiring option is pointless when you're running a single graphics card- there's PLENTY of space inside the case, no airflow problems. The ultra enhanced packaging is just some extra foam that won't really matter if the delivery guy tosses the box over a fence. Assuming it doesn't suffer some awful mishap, their standard packaging provides ample protection.

Even with the Thermal Fusion 400 compound and Professional wiring options, your total is $1207 before taxes/shipping, without monitor.

I advise AGAINST getting your monitor from CyberpowerPC, I don't really like their prices, or the models offered. Get that from Newegg or Amazon. For example, this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824113030

Or if you want a full 1080p monitor, this one:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824009316

So you spend less, for a better-performing system. Good luck!
