please tell me the cheapest price of an lcd monitor capable of playing ps3
also wat else do i need to connect ps3 to lcd monitor?

A. Go to a store they have more experience then us but I think any monitor will do u just need the right converter cables

Between companies that make monitors, which the company sells LCD monitor at an affordable price?
Q. please i would like to know, because i want to buy a lcd monitor with reasonable price to play my xbox 360.

A. http://www.google.co.uk/products/catalog?hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=Jdd&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&channel=s&resnum=0&q=iiyama&um=1&ie=UTF-8&cid=17061255469033071448&ei=k3CGS8v9CNjNjAfa-eS5Dw&sa=X&oi=product_catalog_result&ct=result&resnum=4&ved=0CBoQ8wIwAw&output=nojs

ilyama do a lot of good price great quality monitors and check out BenQ and Acer too

Look for model with a 2ms response rate and which are full HD with the right connectors for you
Pay more attention to the average contrast ratio than the dynamic - a dynamic contrast of 50,000-1 is usually not as good as it sounds

What is a good blu-ray player to run to my lcd monitor?

Q. I just read i could hook up my P244W lcd monitor to a blu-ray player.I have 2 hdmi imput's and max resolution 1920x1080. Do you think a blu-ray player should work with this monitor?

A. Yes HD movies on blu-ray discs have a resolution of 1080p, so your monitor supports that resolution. But 24 inch is low for watching HD movies in full glory (anything of 32 inch or above would be good) .

Besides Blu-Ray players in India are rediculously high priced. If you can afford it, sony PS3 would be great investment for playing Blu-Ray discs as well as games in budget of around 20000 or you can wait for prices to come down.

How can I know if DVI port on LCD monitor is HDCP-compliant?
Q. I'm planning to connect my ps3 to LCD monitor. I have DVI to HDMI cable. How can I know if DVI port in LCD monitor is HDCP compliant?

A. Google up the model name of your LCD monitor and read the specifications on the manufacturer's website.

Or, read your manual

Are these good gaming specs, is it a good price?

Q. First off I'd like to say everyone who 'nerds out' these questions while saying "You need to spend £1200" to get a gaming pc can go away since I know that is not true. Sorry for the rough start.

What will I use my PC for? Editing videos using sony vegas, dreamweaver, fireworks and photoshop. I will be using it for programming as well and most importantly gaming (Counter strike, Warrock, Call of duty, Starcraft, Civilisation, mincecraft, battlefield, homefront, rift and probably a few more).

This is copied and pasted by the way. I've already got a headset, I can get a mouse, keyboard, mouse mat and monitor somewhere else. Is this a good deal for £598? Where is better? Should it run my games smoothly (Not needed to be on top settings).

A. Realistically? Yeah pretty good and it can play all the games to a certain standard it'll probably perform well, if you can build your own pc with the same budget you can kill that one <.< 3x over LOL that being said you'd probably have to pirate windows 7 to cut costs but since that comes with the OS yeah it seems decent enough.

lol so block wall of text. so basically processors no good? and gpu you guys think i should get the 570 580 too pricy for me lol

but i wanted to buy it in the next couple of weeks so i should

1) what processor?
2) switch gpu to GTX 570
3) get bluray
4) psu down to 750?

ill check out ibuypower and if i drastically change it i will post again with just the basics lolol

A. 1. Cyberpower is not known for their good building reviews

2. I'd suggest ibuypower, but the best is building it yourself. You can get a better build for less. My machine is less than that somewhat and it has a Core i7 2600K + 8 GB DDR3 1600mhz RAM + Nvidia 570 GTX GPU

3. Caleb is totally wrong about the i7s. Nothing out there beats them at anything now

I'd wait a few weeks then order these parts as replacements

Core i5 2500K CPU @ 3.4 ghz (easily overclockable to 4.5 ghz on air) @ $225 or less at Micro Center
Nvidia 570 GTX or ATI 6970 Radeon video card @ $325-350
8 GB GSkill Ripjaws X 1600 mhz RAM @ $100
ASUS P67 Motherboard @ $150-200
Corsair 700 watt PSU

Will an HDMI cable improve my monitors resolution for regular computer tasks?

Q. I currently have a 24inch lcd Led backlit 1080p monitor with hdmi port and well as an hdmi port available on my computer with gtx 460 graphics card..I am currently using the vga cable to connect the tower and monitor but will an hdmi cable improve the screen resolution even more for just internet browsing and daily tasks?

A. Digital output is square wave, Analog output round waves , electronic tubes. unless your computer is running electronic tubes or your monitor is tube type CRT then yes it is analog. If you are using a computer made within the last 10 years and LCD monitor you are digital. Me using Sapphire 6970, used HDMI 1.4 ( full HD, 4K,2K HDMI ) cables and VGA, I see no difference. As for resolution that depends on video card manufacturer and monitor, see manuals/specifications for both.

A. A simple "YES" ,

VGA cables have low bandwidth compare to HDMI cables, VGAs has about 24-100Mhz; while the HDMI have about 300-350Mhz. HDMIs will have better video output in 720p and 1080p against the VGAs.

why does my pictures become darker when transferred from my camera to the computer?

Q. im using an Olympus DSLR. when transferring photos from my camera to the computer, the picture becomes darker. does this has something to do with the camera setting? this is also the problem of my professor who is using a Nikon DSLR. please help, thanks.

A. Four things:
* Your camera LCD only provides an indication of what the pictures will look like. It's useful to check your composition and to zoom in and check your focus, but not much else.
* If you're serious about photography and image editing, you should periodically calibrate your computer monitor (ColorVision has a popular range of tools http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?shs=spyder&ci=0&sb=ps&pn=1&sq=desc&InitialSearch=yes&O=RootPage.jsp&A=search&Q=*&bhs=t )
* you should be using a quality monitor in the first place.
* If you mostly do your own printing, calibrate your printer too.

Why my picture is bright in the monitor of my dslr and when i transfer in the computer it becomes dark?
Q. When i shoot some picture using my d3200 in monitor the picture is bright or perfect and when i transfer it on my computer the picture becomes dark?

A. If you use a Auto-set..
The picture should be A-OK
If you're useing some manual set..the LCD Screen might need a adjustmnet--/

I've been looking for a good gaming monitor on a budget. Any ideas?

Q. Specifically speaking, I want them to look good for both games and documents. Because I hear that sometimes good gaming monitors have trouble displaying text right. Anyways my budget is 350, so it can be up to that but not above. Unless the ones above are really worth the extra money. I'd appreciate any help guys.

A. Earlier this year Consumer Reports reviewed LCD monitors like they do every year. In the 22" Wide Screen and larger category the winner was the Acer P221w. I had bought that same monitor the month before and I totally agree with Consumer Reports. Excellent display quality both in and out of games.

2500:1 Dynamic Contrast Ratio
5ms Response Time
1680x1050 Resolution

You can pick one up here
http://www.circuitcity.com/ccd/productDetail.do?oid=193176&om_keycode=823003

http://reviews.cnet.com/lcd-monitors/acer-p221w-lcd-monitor/4505-3174_7-32569188.html

For $350 you could probably find some 24" or even 26" monitor but they will not be as good as far as quality. 22" is still very large and you'll appreciate the better picture.

Anyone can tell me good parts to buy for a gaming computer?
Q. Gonna make one but dun really know which parts are good.

A. BUILDING A GAMING PC.
do you have what it takes to build your own pc?
it's not as hard as most people will try to tell you it is and with a little research and a few hours of reading you will be able to gain the knowledge of how the whole process works.
there are alot of good sites around that have great articles and videos that will help to show you how to put a system together step by step.
for a better understanding of what a gaming pc is and what specs/parts you should aim to use,
try these keywords in a google search "building a gaming pc" & "budget gaming pc" and read
some of the articles that show up, but to help you save some time i have also included a few
of the links that i found to be very help full.

link 1.
this site was packed with loads of good info but involves a lot of reading but as a result
when you have read as much as you can then you will have a better understanding of what it is that you are trying to build.

http://www.build-gaming-computers.com/index.html

link2.
this link will take you to a great set of videos on youtube that show all the steps of building a computer, there is seven separate movie that show you a few steps at a time.
i would also suggest downloading realplayer 11 if you don't already have it so you can download and save these movies to your computer for future reference.

http://au.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=7D3AC490264241EA

to download realplayer:
http://www.download.com/RealPlayer/3000-2646_4-10073040.html?tag=mncol

the next 3 are a bit less reading intensive and you will quickly find there suggested parts list.

link 3.

link 4.
http://www.extremetech.com/article2/0,2845,2270998,00.asp

link 5.
http://www.pcauthority.com.au/Feature/111990,building-a-1500-gaming-pc.aspx

MY BUILD LIST..........
the most recent system i built aimed towards every day use with an outlook towards gaming
with a budget set at $2500 consisted of these parts.
( mid December 2008)

motherboard - Asus M3N78-VM AMD Mainboard - 4x DDR2 / 5x Sata Raid / 1x IDE / Gigabit Lan / On board VGA/DVI/HD MI $141.90

processor - AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual Core 7750 2.7GHz (AM2+) - Black Edition $143.00

ram - Corsair DDR2 4GB PC-8500/1066 (2x XMS2 2GB) TWIN2X4096-8500C5 Ram $159.50

graphics card - XFX 9600GT 1GB, DDR3, 256bit, PCIE, Dual DVI, HDTV HD CP, SLI (PV-T96G-ZHF4) $256.10

hard drive - Western Digital Caviar SE 750GB 7200RPM 16MB SATA 3Gbs x2 $170.50 (each)

optical drive - Pioneer DVR 213LS Light scribe DVD Re-Writer (20x - Black) $50.60

power supply - Corsair HX-1000 1000W ATX Modular Power Supply $371.80

case - Antec Nine Hundred Black Ultimate Gamer Case (No PSU) $198.00

o/s - Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium 64-Bit DVD - OEM $188.10

keyboard and mouse - Logitech Cordless 1500Rechargeable Desktop USB (OEM) $96.80

total cost $2406.40

(note all prices stated in my build list are in australian dollars)

and if after reading all the above you are not you are still a bit uncertain about taking on a build yourself you can always
talk to friends that may have done it before and ask for there help,
or take a parts list into a few computer shops in your local area and see what prices they can give you for building the
system that meets your needs, also searching the keywords "good computer shops in (add your home town here )" in Google and
look through some of the forums to see what people are saying about the computer stores in your local area to see which ones
may be the best to go to by the comments that others have left.

i hope that the above information will help you in achieving your goal.

Is it worth replacing a Broken Back light in an LCD monitor?

Q. Hi, I have a FP91G Benq LCD monitor and today, i think the backlight broke.
The power light of the screen comes on and you can see a very faint image when there is light shined onto the screen.
My question is, is it worth getting the back light replaced or would it be cheaper buying a new screen?

A. A backlight - no. It is integrated into the LCD panel. The cost of replacing a panel will be greater than a replacement monitor.

However, it is possible that your inverter card has gone. This is what provides power to the back light.

That could be worth fixing.

What happens when my LCD monitor gets a tear in it?
Q. My cat likes to chase my cursor, and I just got one of the flat screen LCD monitors instead of the glass panel monitor. Sadly I think one of his claws put a little tear in it. Its very small, hardly noticeable, but I was wondering what will happen to it if anything, and if it can be repaired? Thanks.

A. It may get worse as the plastic protective membrane has been torn, allowing air, cleaning agents etc into the screen.

Sorry to say you will have to replace the screen part of the monitor.

This may not be economic to do.

Either live with it, get it repaired or - Sob - Purchase a new Monitor.

The service agent will not treat this as a warranty issue.

Also consider replacing the cat, or use a "bad dog" background for your Windows display in future. Just joking.

How do I make my broadcast monitor play my video in final cut?

Q. I have just completed my first tv commercial in final cut pro. I have been trying to view it on my broadcast monitor through my hdv deck. (JVC JVDTV100CGU DT-V100CGU 10-Inch Video Monitor and
Sony Professional HVRM15U HDV Record/Playback Deck) What is the process in final cut pro to view on the broadcast monitor as well as the lcd monitor via the deck?

A. use a video splitter:

Is it possible to use an LCD monitor for a TV?
Q. I would like to purchase a LCD monitor and hook it up to my tivo and some speakers, they are so much cheaper than LCD tvs. Is this possible? Do I need some type of converter? Do LCD monitors all have the same inputs? Help please!

A. It depends on the cable service you got your Tivo hooked up to.

If your cable service is standard-definition (uses coax or composite to connect to a TV), then you can't use a computer monitor.

If you have digital HDTV cable service and the cable box has a DVI or HDMI output, you can use any HDCP-compliant LCD computer monitor to display the HD cable box's video output.

The video signal carried by HDMI is in fact single-link DVI, so a DVI-to-HDMI cable can be used to connect an HDMI cable box to a DVI monitor. And cable boxes ARE TV tuners (which is why they have remotes for changing channels), so the monitor does NOT require a tuner on-board to work with an HD cable box. It merely displays whatever DVI signal the HD cable box is telling it to display.

Since broadcast-quality High Definition TV signals are at least 720p (1280x720 resolution), pretty much any LCD monitor can display 720p, as long as it is HDCP-compliant so it will work with the digital HD cable box.

If you want 1080i broadcast HD, you should get an HDCP-compliant monitor that can display 1920x1080 resolution.

Keep in mind most computer monitors have no speakers. You will have to hook up a separate set of speakers to the cable box to get audio.

Hope this helps.

How find out whether a monitor is 3D ready or not?

Q. Also i would like to know if i have graphics hardware and the required driver to support 3D but the LCD monitor is not 3D ready, then can i still view 3D pics and play 3D games? i have geforce 9800gt, 4gb ddr3 ram, 750 gb hard drive cap and i would even like to know a web source where i can compare price for computer accessories in Indian currency. Thank you.

A. If the 3D pictures/games require the use of the old style 3D glasses with the colored type lenses, then Yes, you can use your current hardware. But if you're referring to the new 3D technology designed monitors/TVs, then No, you would need the actual hardware designed for that capability.

What's the difference between buying an LCD monitor and an LCD Television today?
Q. Because I'm thinking of getting an LCD monitor for my computer but why not just get an LCD TV and use it as my computer monitor among other things? Whats the difference?

A. There are numerous differences between lcd monitors and lcd tv sets today. The biggest difference is resolution. LCD monitors have way higher resolution than HDTVs. Most consumer HDTVs max out at 1920x1080 pixels (1080p aka "full HD") while common monitors with screen sizes 24-30" are capable of 1900x1200 or even 2560x1600 (that's way more resolution than your common 1080p tv set). Basically, LCD monitors have better pixel pitch since they have a lot more pixels at a much smaller screen size (compare a 1920x1080 50" with a 2560x1600 resolution 30" monitor).

Next is panel technology. Most manufacturers of LCD monitors use TN panels, while almost all LCD tvs use something like MVA (not sure about ips). Basically, TN is cheap and the monitors reflect this in their prices. TN gives fast response times while MVA/IPS allows excellent color reproduction as well as preventing colors from shifting when viewed at an angle. However, there are many mva/ips LCD monitors too, it's just that they're usually much much more expensive.

LCD monitors also usually do not have tv tuners but some, like the samsung T240HD do come with a buil-in tuner and a remote control.

Before buying, try to research first on the LCD tv's input lag and response times, since these will be the factors most readily apparent in everyday computer use.

A good picture quality is important because I will be watching movies and playing games with this screen. Sound quality would be nice, but not a huge deal since I have a set of 5.1 surround speakers to use :-p.
Hook me up! Haha.

Thanks in advance!

A. whatever you do dont buy a Vizio no matter how cheap they are. They all die within a year

What is the difference between a regular LCD Monitor and an HDTV or HD Monitor?

Q. I am in the market for a 22-24" monitor for my computer. I will use it for web surfing, photo editing, and the occasional watching of videos via YouTube or Hulu. Is it worth the investment to get a HD or HDTV monitor? What benefits does it offer that a regular LCD does not?

A. Sounds like you need just a regular LCD monitor, the only time someone needs a HD Monitor is if they are gaming, also watching TV if it has a built in tuner or advanced video or photo editing.

Does the Pinnacle Dazzle let me view live feed video in full screen on my computer?
Q. I am currently looking towards video editing solutions, but I am also looking for ways to turn m PC into a television for external media devices.

So can the Pinnacle Dazzle provide live feed content to my PC from things like the Xbox 360 in full screen mode without having to be recording at the same time?

A. Nope, I am currently trying to that same exact thing. I just happen to have a dazzle I use for live broadcasting to the web for concerts and such.

During my downtime I would like to be able to use it to to play xbox on my laptop. So far there has been a couple of choices and none of them have helped me cause I am using 64 bit Vista.

If you are using 32 bit xp I have your answer. There is a tv tuner software available on downloads.com that is free and allows you to do that very same thing on 1080p setting. I should leave you hanging cause I still haven't found my answer. But http://www.download.com/DScaler/3000-13632_4-10518807.html will get you the exact software you need.

Future reference; if that links goes dead just google, Dscaler, it is a tuner software and it is open source. I am not affiliated with any of these companies listed here accept http://www.southlinemusic.com and if our website starts to help with things like this on a regular basis I will quit, lol....I would rather pownz you than help you...

There is a real simple solution that is cheaper than buying a dazzle for your puter. If you are just trying to connect your xbox to a monitor go to the gamers store and by the adapter to connect your xbox to a monitor. It is only 20 bucks and the dazzle starts at 50 bucks.

The quality will be the same if not better. The only way to get get real 1080p on a monitor w/o latency will be to spend 550 bucks on a gamerz Monitor and if you are spending that kinda money on hardware you will not be surfing for these small answers. BTW a good gamers monitor is 120hz, 2ms, 3000:1, 24inch. Find those in a monitor of the cheapest price and you are set. Anything more and it is a gimic. I know you want the 40 inch monitor but if you go bigger you will need a higher ratio than 3000:1.

No, flat screen tv's are not better than monitors cause they have 50000:1. They are just bigger so they need a higher number. Lcd beats Plasma everytime and monitors beat them both. Take my well spent cash's word for it. You will not be able to beat the FPS on a monitor. That is the truth.

5ms is all you really need but 2ms is rapidly available for some reason. If you can truly tell the difference then you need to register as a mutant for freakish vision.

3000:1 on a 24in monitor is an amazing color just make sure they are not bullsh*tting you. Typically this is where they lie.

1080p is better than 1080i and 780 is the lowest. I'll get that out of the way too.

Alas I have a laptop and I need the dazzle to work. So I will continue looking for my solution and the odds are good I will not find this thread again. So if you would like to stay updated visit me at http://www.southlinemusic.com and post a request for tech there in our blog and maybee ill see it. Better yet Register with the site, I am the admin. Once registered you can IM or email me. My name is Ron.

last note; if you do decide to go LCD TV for GAMING then the matte finish is your only choice. If you wanna watch your little girly movies then get the glossy crap. Personally I do not like to see reflections of lamps on my end tables while I am watching "On Golden Pond" but your grown and prolly prefer "Fried Green Tomatoes" after "Operah Late night" cause that is the only time you can watch a gloss tv is from the comfort of your cave.

If you happen to get powned by FragginRite on Gears of War 2, don't feel bad I am just better than you. Itsa spider Biatch.......

What is the monitor called where you don't have to struggle to find the best viewing angle?

Q. My lap top monitor is a constant annoyance because of the restricted viewing angle. My TV, an old style model, has no viewing problems based on the angle of viewing. When I buy my next laptop I don't want this problem. What is the type of display called where there is no problem of this kind?

A. LCD screen with In-Plane Switching (abbreviated to IPS) displays have wider viewing angles. You'll find it mostly in higher-end laptops, like Sony's Vaio S series.

How to hook up PS3 to LCD Monitor and TV at once?

Q. Ok my TV is a 28' Samsung LCD HD tv. My monitor is a 22' Dell LCD full HD monitor.

I have the component cables in my TV and the HDMI plugged into my PC monitor. What do I have to do in the settings to get the same image on both screens?

A. You can't.

The only way to get the image on both screens (which will be the exact same image), is to split the video cable.

The PS3 can NOT output two video signals at once. You either have to use the HDMI cable and split it, or use the RCA cables and split them.

Do all LCD monitors with a resolution by 1080 have 1080p? And does having 1080p mean it is full HD?
Q. Im planning to buy a full hd lcd monitor for my computer. I use it for watching movies and playing games. But i don't quit know how to determine if it is full HD. And would you guys know the benefits of having a full hd lcd monitor

A. If you want to play back Blu-Ray DVDs at full pixel-for-pixel 1080p High-Definition, you need the following:

1) A Blu Ray drive.

2) An HDCP-compliant video card.

3) An HDCP-compliant monitor that can display 1920x1080. (So in a nutshell, "Full HD" monitor = HDCP compliance and 1920x1080 resolution-capable.)

Keep in mind that HDCP-protected digital high-def video content like Blu Ray discs requires both the vid card and monitor to be HDCP-compliant. If one of those pieces are not, HD Blu Ray movie playback will NOT work.

Hope this helps.

How do I transfer video from the hard drive to the SD card on a JVC Everio GZ-MG630RU camcorder?

Q. I have a 2010 JVC Everio GZ-MG630RU camcorder. i recently bought a laptop with Win-7. i found out that Win-7 does not recognize my camcorder . My question is: how do i go about transferring the videos on my camcorders Hard Drive to the cameras mini SD card ?

Thanx

A. Excerpt from Amazon.com. Read your manual and your question makes no sense. Why do you want to copy from HDD to SD when the camera doesn't seem to have an mini SD card?

Everio Features

All 2009 Everios make sharing and watching videos easier than ever. New for this year is the One Touch Export function that allows Everio videos to be imported into iTunes and loaded into an iPod or iPhone. All 2009 Everios also offer One Touch DVD burning and the One Touch Upload function that JVC introduced to users in 2008 as a new and convenient way to upload videos to YouTube.

To use any of the three functions, simply connect Everio to a PC using the supplied USB cable. Then, the user chooses one of three buttons on the Everio: UPLOAD, EXPORT, or DIRECT DVD. Pressing the button will launch the appropriate Windows PC application that comes bundled with Everio, and the user simply follows the simple on-screen prompts. With just a few mouse clicks the process of uploading to YouTube, exporting to iTunes, burning to disc or transferring to an external hard disk drive will be completed. For uploading to YouTube, the user can perform an in-camera edit of any length video to fit the 10-minute YouTube limit.

For disc based archiving, there is an alternative to using a PC. JVC offers the CU-VD50 Direct DVD Burner/Player as an option, which allows burning of Everio videos to a DVD disc without having to use a PC.

The new Everio MediaBrowser software supplied with all Everio models is a Windows application providing an easy-to-search calendar-type graphical interface for indexing and finding video files. Thumbnail images of recorded videos and stills are superimposed on the calendar so it’s easy to see when any scene was recorded. The Everio MediaBrowser also allows easy playback, simple cut editing, and "Decomotion" to spruce up recorded footage with animated graphics for upload to YouTube. It also supports Export to iTunes, Upload to YouTube, burning to disc or transferring to HDD.

Another new feature found on all Everio camcorders is Digest Playback, which offers an easy and entertaining way to check the content residing on Everio’s HDD or SD/SDHC card. The function automatically selects highlight scenes from among the recorded content using JVC’s proprietary algorithm and plays back what looks like a "coming attractions" trailer for a movie. Sixty minutes of footage is condensed into five minutes of highlight scenes.

Other Everio features have been enhanced for 2009. Laser Touch Operation has been updated to allow control of zooming and recording using either the Laser Touch scroll bar or buttons next to the LCD screen, as well as by the standard zoom lever and REC button. And as before, Laser Touch makes it easy to browse through thumbnail images of recorded scenes and access menu selection. Power-linked operation, long offered by JVC, goes a step further this year. Simply opening the LCD monitor automatically opens the built-in lens cover and powers up the camcorder. Closing the LCD also closes the lens cover and shuts down the power. With Quick Restart, recording can start in about one second after the LCD is re-opened.

In addition to performance and convenience, the 2009 Everio line offers plenty of style and shooting comfort. A new design features elegant curves, a silver-framed LCD and a comfortable angled grip with a new dual use strap. The strap can be used in the usual camcorder fashion, supporting the user’s hand when shooting, or it can be extended and used as a wrist strap like the type on most digital still cameras.

How can I play ripped DVD files on an LCD TV?

Q. My TV is the Samsung B2330HD 23" LCD HDTV Monitor Full HD 1080p HDMI. Thank you.

A. Acutally, only if you choose the right format to rip, it can be displayed on your TV. You could try DVDFab DVD Ripper, it can rip DVD to video/audio in the format like AVI, MP4, WMV, MKV, FLV, 3GP, MP3, WAV, M4A, WMA, AC3, DTS etc. for playback on popular portable devices like Apple TV, iPad (iPad 2), iPhone (iPhone 4), iPod, PSP, Zune, NDS, etc.

How would I hook up a playstation 2 to an Acer 23" LCD pc monitor?
Q. My Acer LCD wide screen pc monitor (model H233H) has 1 hdmi input, 1 dvi w/ hdcp input, and 1 vga input. I doesn't have an audio output but it does have built in speakers.

I want to buy a playstation 2 to play some games that came out a few years ago and also because it's affordable. I can't afford a ps3 right now.

A. You have a good chance of going to a local computer store (the kind that build computers) and talk with one of them and see if they have in stock or can design you a cable that connects from the PS2 to the HDMI or DVI or VGA input.

Need to hook my MacBook Pro to my 27" LCD Monitor?

Q. Hi how or what cable would I use to hook up my brand new MacBook Pro 2011 Fall MacBook Pro 2.3GHz to the following Monitor? What ever is easiest and has the best resolution. THANKS!

Samsung 27" LED Monitor S27A550H 1920x1080 VGA HDMI
5000000:1 Contrast|Fast 2ms Response

A. I don't know much about macbooks. but if you have an "HDMI" port on your mac, go buy an HDMI to HDMI cable; (They have all different lengths, depending on how far your laptop will be from the monitor, you choose the length.) they can range from 2 to 25 dollars about, depending on who you buy them from and what length they are. I recommend buying them from places like wal-mart or target, and avoiding places like radioshack. (Also, this is the easiest way, and best resolution, ranging all the way to 1080p. while VGA is low def, and you have to screw it in.)

What are organic Light emitting diodes?
Q.

A. Organic light emitting diodes (OLEDs) are electronic devices made by placing a thin film of an electroluminescent organic material between two conductors of different work functions. When an electrical voltage is applied, electrons and holes are injected into the electroluminescent material. When these recombine, light is emitted. Additional thin film layers are usually added for different purposes such as electron and hole transport. The advantages of organic materials derive from the easiness of chemical manipulation to tune the colours and to obtain low-cost processability such as inkjet printing on plastic substrates. OLEDs can be used for large and small area flat panel flexible self-luminous displays in many consumer products.
http://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:N9sRYHGIPhoJ:www.lx.it.pt/~alcacer/TM_Group/OLEDs.pdf+organic+light+emitting+diodes&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESjXiSgZ9oDHYe3BiMn_aJccLMPwsDNxvQtZCJDQCxZO7fo6PQoktEvs0FN_tpNGT0_8llrCKtHWpdpFpyfeE3yHXmvV7Da55ZujiNSGPX6jgu7wbcMMumzJO_27gNjKkkmgwwvk&sig=AHIEtbREilLKqgO7sH4HO_hCZ60wKZtipQ&pli=1
===================================

OLEDs are used in television screens, computer monitors, small, portable system screens such as mobile phones and PDAs, watches, advertising, information, and indication. OLEDs are also used in light sources for space illumination and in large-area light-emitting elements. Due to their early stage of development, they typically emit less light per unit area than inorganic solid-state based LED point-light sources.

An OLED display functions without a backlight. Thus, it can display deep black levels and can be thinner and lighter than liquid crystal displays. In low ambient light conditions such as dark rooms, an OLED screen can achieve a higher contrast ratio than an LCD using either cold cathode fluorescent lamps or the more recently developed LED backlight.

There are two main families of OLEDs: those based upon small molecules and those employing polymers. Adding mobile ions to an OLED creates a Light-emitting Electrochemical Cell or LEC, which has a slightly different mode of operation.

OLED displays can use either passive-matrix (PMOLED) or active-matrix addressing schemes. Active-matrix OLEDs (AMOLED) require a thin-film transistor backplane to switch each individual pixel on or off, and can make higher resolution and larger size displays possible.

Verbatim launches colour tuneable and dimmable OLED lights
13th April 2011
Verbatim's OLEDs can be dimmed, are colour tuneable and are suitable for reading lights . The first commercially viable colour tuneable organic light emitting diodes (OLED) have launched onto the market for use in the general lighting, automotive and airline industries. Verbatim, a data storage and technology developer and subsidiary of Mitsubishi Chemical Group, is behind the new lighting technology. Verbatim claims its VELVE OLEDs emit a soft, glare-free light, which the company suggests are good for reading lights. The lights are also available in different shapes, including squares, rectangles and hexagons.

OLEDs are different from traditional LED lights. OLEDs are solid-state semiconductors that use films of organic molecules thinner than human hair to emit light. LED lights are semiconductors that give off light when a current runs through them. Although energy efficient, they are sometimes criticised for not emitting enough light or for emitting an off-colour light. OLEDs emit brighter light, do not require the use of hazardous chemicals such as mercury, can be dimmed, and they draw less power than standard LEDs.

The VELVE OLEDs have been designed in 14 cm x 14 cm colour and white tone tuneable panels. Users will able to adjust the colours of the lights, giving them the ability to change the lighting to meet the different functions of the space. The company is selling the OLEDs to original equipment manufacturers in the lighting and furniture sectors, but says they are also well suited general lighting application, or for use in vehicles and airplanes.

What is the minimum requirement to play 3D games with a laptop?

Q. 1. My GPU supports 3D gaming
2. I'm not sure if my laptop's display is suitable (LCD LED-backlit)
3. Which type of glasses should i get?
4. Crysis 2 3D

A. 1. That's a damn fine start

2. Probably doesn't matter as you can get away with sterographing images

3. Get a pack of any brand 3D glasses made by companies that make 3D TVs

4. I'm pretty sure you're good

As far as I know, all you need is for your video card to be able to output in 3D and the game to be configured for it. There shouldn't be much else you need.

EDIT: You need a 120Hz monitor, but you can still try with a regular 60Hz and give it a shot

What should I upgrade to make my computer better for gaming?
Q. Okay, so I have an HP Elite 570T Desktop computer with dual 23" HD monitors. I'm looking to up my frames and enhance my graphics on Planetside 2 and other games. What should I invest in primarily, given my current specs?

Specifications:
Model: HPE-570T
Harddisk Drive: 1.5TB 7200RPM (I'm assuming if I purchased a solid state drive I'd be in better luck)
Processor: Intel Core i7-2600 CPU @ 3.4GHz
Memory: 9GB DDR3
OS: Windows 7 64-Bit
Graphics Card: NVidia GeForce GT 440 3GB
Primary Monitor: HP 2310 Series Wide LED LCD Monitor 1080p
Secondary Monitor: Samsung PX2370 LED LCD Monitor 1080p

Once again I'm looking for enhanced graphics and better fps.
Thanks!

A. Get a faster Graphics card. The GT 440 is pretty slow compared to other cards out there.

However the problem is that your computer's power supply is only 300W. This limits what you can upgrade to. You should upgrade to a ~600W powersupply, and then get yourself a GTX 660 Ti, if space is an issue, Zotac makes a short form factor version.

Help attaching LCD monitor to a laptop please?

Q. I attached my 24" samsung LCD to my sony VAIO and weather its LCD only, Monitor only, or Both my monitor gets fuzzy lines. The lines are all over the computer and are more visible with a darker color on the monitor such as a black background. Please help me get rid of this fuzziness, it is hurting my eyes!

Thank You very much in andvanced.

A. Make sure the cable is secure on both the notebook and LCD ends. Try a different VGA cable if you can't get a solid connection between the two.
You may want to check your display settings and crank up the resolution on the external monitor as well. I'm sure a 24" LCD can do some good stuff but the graphics adapter in the notebook may not handle it.

How to reduce eye strain on high gloss lcd screen?
Q. What kind of windows theme will help reduce eye strain on glossy monitor? Can any settings specific to windows vista or XP help?

A. I find that lowering the contrast of the display to be the most helpful when dealing with glossy monitors. If that fails to help you can try to reduce the amount of room light or light that might reflect off of the surface of the screen. There are no Windows settings that can help with this. You might also consider replacing you monitor with a new monitor with a matte screen. These types are less glary but overall less brilliant.

How am i supposed to clean a scanner?

Q. I have screen wipes that i use for my lcd monitor would that work?

A. screen wipes would work, but you should only need to do that rarely (every 4-6 months or so). Remember, the glass surface of a scanner is fairly protected since a flatbed scanner has a cover. If you're cautious about not touching it with your fingers, then it should remain relatively clean from oils, etc.

The bigger concern is dust. Dust will settle onto the glass surface even with the cover on it. And that dust will show up on your scanned images. A lot of scanner manufacturers recommend that you keep a micro-fiber cloth handy for an occassionally wipedown. Lightly wiping with those swiffer refill cloths picks up the dust as well.

good luck.

What is the difference between an LCD and an LED monitor?

Q. My monitor for my desktop is going out. It turns black after about 10 seconds of being on. Instead of figuring out what is wrong, I decided to just buy a new one but I do not know the difference in LCD and LED. I want one to last me longer than just the four years this one has but is also best bet for the price. Can someone just explain the difference please?

A. LED is actually the type of backlighting used by some LCD monitors. Many low end and early LCD displays use cold cathode tubes for backlight, newer, higher quality LCD displays will use LED backlighting and LED type backlights are significantly superior to cold cathode backlights in display quality- better contrast, image clarity, uniform brightness. LEDs have generally lower power consumption(great for battery powered devices), take up much less space and last a very long time, plus if one LED dies (I've never actually had that happen to me yet), it won't render the display completely unusable, the only downside I can think of with LED backlit LCD displays is that they are a bit more expensive.

What is the difference between a computer monitor and an LCD/LED TV of a similar size?
Q. I would like to get a large monitor for my vision considerations. What are the major differences between two similar sized TVs and Monitors?

A. Computer Monitors
1.) Only go up to 32''
2.) Higher Image Quality. Better at display fine text
3.) Less inputs
4.) Cheaper
5.) Are only available with a refresh rate of up to 120hz
6.) Only higher end or more expensive models can be effectively mounted

LCD/LED
1.) Can go up 80''+
2.) Dollar for dollar image quality of a LCD TV won't match a computer monitor.
(partially with help of the video card)
3.) Far more inputs. Can plug your blu-ray player and all your other devices.
4.) More expensive
5.) Are available with a refresh rate of up to 240hz
6.) Better suited to mount on walls

What features should my not pricey digital camera have? I have never used a digital before?

Q. Auto focus, manual focus, what else for under $200. Himself is about to go out & buy me one what features shall I tell him the camera should have? (No I can't go with him, it's a gift for me.)

A. Cameras are judged by image quality rank system..

But mostly ppl buy on the basis of Brand name, mega pixel and LCD monitor size..not good option..

Other factors are
-Good Flash Range.
-Speedy performance
-Quick Flash recharge Time
-Good indoor picture capability

I can recommend some cameras which have image rank 8 or 9 (out of 10).

Fujifilm F40fd (Best).
Fujifilm F20 (Best).
Fujifilm F31fd.
Nikon L11
Olympus FE-250
Canon A720IS
Samsung S85

I need to ask a question about the Canon EOS 350D?

Q. Hi, I am new the world on cameras, and I bought this one as my second camera, and I have a very strong feeling that the only screen is the small one about the LCD monitor. Am I correct? Or is there a setting I can change to make the LCD monitor the screen like almost every other camera?

A. "screen"? "about the monitor"? Your question is very strange.

However, I will take a guess, anyway.

I would say you are asking about the viewfinder, and about something called "live view".
Your camera is rather old and basic (but that doesn't make it a bad camera), and it doesn't have that feature.
However, you are not missing out on anything.

"Live View" on a DSLR is not the same as the screen on a P&S.
You can hold a P&S at arm's length in the typical snapshooter's position (and that is such a bad technique), but thankfully you can't do that for very long with a heavy DSLR & lens combo.
Live view has its uses occasionally , for instance for macro shots, but it isn't instant like the display on a P&S, it sort of lags, and just doesn't feel right.
Live View is not meant to replace the view finder, a serious photographer uses the view finder because it is vastly superior, full stop.
I was excited about my first DSLR with live view, but very quickly gave up on it again - the view finder is so much better.

Your camera may be basic, but you have a perfectly wonderful learning tool - use it to your advantage.

Learn about your camera !!!!

Read your manual !!!! Read it several times, and practice in between. If you don't have a book, download a new one from the manufacturer's website.

Attend a class, read some books, read/watch online tutorials.

The major camera manufacturers (like Canon, Nikon, Olympus etc) all have very useful sections on their website for learning about photography.

http://www.nikonusa.com/Learn-And-Explore/Nikon-School/index.page

http://www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/oima_learn_center.asp

http://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=HomePageAct

http://photographycourse.net/

Understanding at least the basic principles of photography (as well as being familiar with your camera) will enable you to make the most of your gear, and will make a HUGE difference to your images.

is there a store where i can get a new screen for my digital camera?
Q. something happened to my digital camera and now the screen is cracked. my boyfriend got the camera for me for christmas and now i want it fixed because it doesn't have a lens that i can look through. it's a Vivitar vivicam 4100 with 4.0 mega pixels and a digital macro lens and TFT LCD monitor.

A. It can be replaced, but will likely cost as much as a new camera. Look in the phone book for a local Photography Repair Shop or at least a full service Photography Shop. These places are the best choice.

How can I change the splash screen on my LCD monitor?

Q. I have an Acer Al1916W LCD monitor. Whenever I turn it on the company name (ACER) pops up for a brief moment then goes to the Windows screen. I was curious if it was possible to change it to something else. I know its very minor as the image stays on the screen for like a half second before it changes. Its just one of those can it be done sort of things.

A. No, you can't. It's hardwired in.

do LCD monitors have the same affect on eyesight as CRTs?
Q. I want to know if LCD monitors effect eyesight as CRTs or not. I have to stay in front of a computer screen 6 - 7 hours per day. Does that have a real bad effect on my eyesight?

A. Monitors of any sort do NOT damage the eyesight. This is a myth. What they do do is strain the eyesight. This is something your eyes recover from but can give you headaches etc/cause temporary blurring at teh end of the day. LCD monitors are easier on the eyes in many ways that CRT monitors , not least of this is that they don't have any flicker which is important if you sufer from migraine. 6 to 7 hours a day is less than most computer professionals stay in front of a screen and if this damaged the eyesight the world would be full of blind computer staff suing their companies. Big companies keep a very close eye on the latest research on thsi sort of thing and issue guidance as to how to sit etc but long term damage is mainly to things like the neck/back/fingers if you don't sit properly or you use for this long on a laptop because you can't get teh screen and keyboard at teh correct angle.

Would buying an ultra HD monitor be the wise choice with my system?
Q. HP Pavilion p6674y Desktop PC
HP 2010 Series Wide LCD Monitor
Windows 7 Home Premium
ATI Radeon HD 4200 video card

My computer can play HD videos (720p and 1080p) but the colors are always REALLY dark or the playback is choppy. My drivers are up to date, but I can't help but think the problem is the monitor (which I assume is pretty middle-of-the-road quality). I want to be able to watch clear 720p and 1080p videos.

I'm looking at the Asus VS247H-P 24-Inch Full-HD LED-Lit Monitor, but don't want to spend the money if it's my whole CPU that's the issue.

Thanks!

A. I really wish people would stop using the term "CPU" to refer to their entire machine. But that's besides the point...

I doubt that the monitor is your problem (your monitor doesn't really have much of a say over how choppy your video is). If I had to venture a guess I'd say the problem if your graphics card: the Radeon 4200 is kind of lower end.

My recommendation would be to buy a new graphics card. If all your doing is watching videos then you don't need to spend money on a gaming card or anything - just a basic $30-$50 card should cut it for you.

Could a 1080p monitor bottleneck a Radeon HD 7970?
Q. I have the ASUS VE247H Black 23.6" Full HD HDMI LED BackLight LCD Monitor. It's 1920 x 1080 2ms. I am planning on getting a Radeon HD 7970 that is 4096 x 2160. Will this monitor bottleneck my graphics card? Should I switch my graphics card and get a lower grade one to save money from it being wasted? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A. The monitor would have nothing to do with it.

Do I have to worry about overheating with Voltage adator for using my LCD monitor in te USA?

Q. I'm planning on buying an LCD monitor in the UK that runs on the voltage here. I know need an adaptor to use it in the States, but so far I've only used adaptors for smaller devices like electric razors and cell phone chargers.

Since I'll be using the monitor for long periods of time should I be worried about my adaptor overheating or burning out? I don't actually have one right now but I'm planning to get one while in the States.

Or would I be better off just getting a new monitor over there and just buying some cheap, second-hand CRT to use now while I'm in the UK

A. look dont buy a lcd monitor because after 2 years the colour and the picture quality will be low so u have to change something i dont weather it is the screen or something buy a flat screen monitor it is the best. so when you get to usa by a new lcd or a flat screen monitor it is best for u because u will get a warrent of 2 years like that

its your choise
