How can i hook up a xbox 360 to a PC monitor?

Q. i want to hook up xbox 360 to my pc monitor becouse i have SD tv and i don't like picture quality.i have LCD monitor for my pc.

A. If your XBox has HDMI cable you can connect it to your monitor.

Why does my lcd monitor blank out after a while?
Q. I have a philips LCD monitor which is 4 years old. When I am using my pc it suddenly goes blank and stops working.Sometimes this happens after 2 hours, sometimes after 15 minutes.
On certain occasions it shows me a message "change display to 1280 x 1024 (60Hz).I have tried that but it had no effect. How do I determine what the problem is?
Note:Sometimes the display comes back on after a second or two and it continues to work like nothing happened.

A. Assuming you've already checked your operating system's screensaver settings, and made sure there aren't any power-saving settings enabled on the monitor's hardware itself, it could be because there's a subtle incompatibility between your video card, video driver, and the monitor itself.

If you're running Windows, remove all the video and monitor references from the Device Manager and reboot to let Windows rediscover and refresh the setup.

If it only detects your monitor as "Generic LCD monitor" or some such, and the problem is still occurring, you may want to check the internet to see if there's a specific driver for that monitor. In addition, look the model of monitor up, find out its hardware resolution, and set your Windows desktop resolution to the same numbers. Also make sure that your video card supports that particular resolution - some of the older cards don't work all that well with widescreen LCDs.

To get around that problem a bit, make sure you are running the very latest video drivers for your video card.

What is the best monitor brand that I can use for my ps3?
Q. What is the best monitor brand that I can use for my ps3?I need an monitor that can support the resolution of 1080p for my ps3. I also have a question if a monitor has the max resolution of 1980x1080 does it mean it can support 1080p?Thanks.

A. Get Samsung PX2370, its awesome. On cnet website its the best reviewed monitor. I bought it 2 months ago for my ps3 and its a treat to play games on it. It supports1080p resolution which means 1920x1080 (not 1980x1080, there is no such resolution like 1980x1080). And its very thin & sexy. Here is a link:

Would buying an ultra HD monitor be the wise choice with my system?
Q. HP Pavilion p6674y Desktop PC
HP 2010 Series Wide LCD Monitor
Windows 7 Home Premium
ATI Radeon HD 4200 video card

My computer can play HD videos (720p and 1080p) but the colors are always REALLY dark or the playback is choppy. My drivers are up to date, but I can't help but think the problem is the monitor (which I assume is pretty middle-of-the-road quality). I want to be able to watch clear 720p and 1080p videos.

I'm looking at the Asus VS247H-P 24-Inch Full-HD LED-Lit Monitor, but don't want to spend the money if it's my whole CPU that's the issue.

Thanks!

A. I really wish people would stop using the term "CPU" to refer to their entire machine. But that's besides the point...

I doubt that the monitor is your problem (your monitor doesn't really have much of a say over how choppy your video is). If I had to venture a guess I'd say the problem if your graphics card: the Radeon 4200 is kind of lower end.

My recommendation would be to buy a new graphics card. If all your doing is watching videos then you don't need to spend money on a gaming card or anything - just a basic $30-$50 card should cut it for you.

How often should a 50 inch plasma TV be calibrated?

Q. TV is 4 years old & was calibrated 2 yrs ago. Is the color supposed to be calibrated every couple years? Our TV salesperson says after a couple years, it doesn't make much difference & I don't know why he'd think that considering they charge $300!
It is flat screen not rear projection. My husband swears they need to be calibrated every couple years and we don't know how to do it ourselves.

A. Back when CRT-based TV’s, monitors, and projectors were the only game in town—and consumer display calibration was beginning to take roots within a niche market comprised primarily of videophiles and ardent video enthusiasts—it was recommended that such displays be recalibrated annually for those that wanted to maintain the highest level of color accuracy possible. But that was back when the overwhelming majority of consumer electronics manufacturers universally dismissed or ignored color accuracy…regularly producing TV’s and RPTV’s pre-set from the factory to produce a noticeably bluer gray-scale, which is typically perceived as brighter and more vivid.

Once more and more consumers were exposed to greater color accuracy and improved picture fidelity, thanks in large part to the efforts of Joe Kane and the Imaging Science Foundation, and further promoted by the media, most manufacturers of today’s consumer display devices now regularly provide one or more factory settings in addition to a variety of user-accessible picture controls that offer substantially better color accuracy and image fidelity directly out of the box. Without question, professional display calibration is far from a necessity for most consumers; only die-hard enthusiasts and videophiles (and opportunistic big-box consumer electronics retailers) believe/claim display “calibration” is a necessity.

From an earlier post* of mine: “I also encourage you to read the online Peter Putnam article, the Secrets of Home Theater and High Fidelity articles, and several of the other applicable resources to which I have provided a links below. In the end you may find that the optimization process is more than sufficient.” If you really feel the need for regular instrument-based professional display calibrations then you should strongly consider purchasing your own tristimulus colorimeter—some selling for roughly the same price as a single display calibration from Best Buy’s Geek Squad—and performing your own display “calibrations” at your leisure.

The bottom line is this: without a precision calibrated color reference display, placed side-by-side with your display, it is extremely unlikely that you—not unlike the majority of people with normal color vision—will be able to notice if the color accuracy (or gray-scale tracking) of your television is out of tolerance by a small to moderate amount. Quite often careful display configuration and optimization is all one needs to enjoy a sufficiently accurate color picture. And if you still feel the need to pay for a third-party professional display calibration then you should at least receive a significant discount for regular periodic ‘maintenance’ calibrations.

What specs to look for when buying a LCD monitor?

Q. What should i pay attention to when buying LCD monitor beside the resolution ? What kind of aspect ratio is good ? Like the 3000:1 or the 500:1. What else should i look for ?

Thanks Guys

A. Aspect ratios only apply to CRT monitors. For a LCD, you will want to consider the response time. The lower, the better. For gaming, anything more than 5ms is too slow. Other than that, just about any monitor will do. Make sure you read some reviews before you buy. There are some monitors that are better than others.

What is the difference between the galaxy s4 vs galaxy tablet?
Q. ?

A. Make your life richer, simpler, and more fun. As a real life companion, the new Samsung GALAXY S4 helps bring us closer and captures those fun moments when we are together. Each feature was designed to simplify our daily lives. Furthermore, it cares enough to monitor our health and well-being. To put it simply, the Samsung GALAXY S4 is there for you.

The original Galaxy Tab was introduced on 2 September 2010 at the IFA in Berlin. It has a single core 1 GHz Exynos processor, and a 7-inch TFT LCD display with a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels. Its operating system is based on Android 2.2 Froyo with some custom skins and applications. Most Android 2.2 apps developed using Google's guidelines for Android should scale properly when displayed on larger-screen devices such as the Samsung Galaxy Tab, according to Samsung. In May 2011 it was reported that Android Gingerbread 2.3.3 was being made available in Italy, with other regions expected to follow. Several updates have been made throughout the world and in February, 2012, Android version Gingerbread 2.3.6 is available.

Any suggestions on a better build? Also, how long does the "back to school" megasale last?
Sorry about the other details that say "none". Just ignore those. Also, instead of an i7 what if I changed it for an i5 3570k? I'm hoping to build a computer that will not only last a long time but play future high-end games and MMORPGs.
And I have a monitor...

A. Willie,

Its all good, other than building a rig yourself you can't do much better, your GTX570 is the biggest bang for your GPU buck until the Kepler powered GTX660 comes out, and even then it might still be the better buy. By adding the pro wiring and sound insulation your hoping to get more care taken from the builder, its not big bucks so why not.

For the blinded by Bulldozer tard who can't see your Optical Drive: 24X Double Layer Dual Format DVD+-R/+-RW + CD-R/RW Drive (BLACK COLOR)

Performance Analysis

With the addition of numbers for the Intel Core i3-2100 and Core i5-2400 in some of our benchmarks, it's plain to see that even with a price cut, the FX-8120 struggles in most of our tests. In very multi-threaded tests such as Cinebench and WPrime, it just about manages to hold its own against the similarly-priced Intel Core i5-2400 - slightly ahead in WPrime, a little behind in Cinebench and noticeably faster than the cheaper Core i3-2100. The Core i5-3570K is much faster in both tests, but then it costs around £30 more.

Our image editing test was a real let down with the FX-8120. It came bottom of the graph, being trounced by a staggering 500 points by the Core i3-2100 - a CPU that costs just £90. Even the ageing AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition was considerably faster while the similarly priced Intel Core i5-2400 was nearly twice as fast. Clearly, if you do any amount of photo editing, the AMD FX-8120 represents particularly poor value.

With eight cores at its disposal, you'd think the FX-8120 might stand a good chance in our video encoding test. Sadly this wasn't to be and its score of 2,150 was over 400 points short of the Core i5-2400. Thankfully for the FX-8120, the Core i3-2100 was noticeably slower, with its two physical and two virtual cores not able to keep up.

Everything started to fall away from the FX-8120 again in our multi-tasking test, where it was yet again at the bottom of the pile, coming 100 points short of the much cheaper Core i3-2100, while the Core i5-2400 was nearly 50% faster - pretty damning result. Overall, it was no surprise to see the FX-8120 rock bottom, bettered by the Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition and Core i3-2100 and trounced by the Core i5-2400.

Our game test lacks data for the two Sandy Bridge CPUs as we tested these some time ago, however, with the Intel Core i5-3570K retailing for just £30-40 more, it's clear from our results that the FX-8120 isn't a great buy for games either. The Intel CPU was 60 per cent faster in Arma II while costing around 30 per cent more - not a bad rate of return if you can afford the extra layout.

Conclusion,

Sadly, its more of the same bad news for AMD or anyone with a Socket AM3+ motherboard looking for a decent CPU for around the £150 mark. The FX-8120 just isn't a good choice when it comes to the kind of applications we run on our PCs. It's regularly outpaced by far cheaper Intel dual-core CPUs, while the similarly-priced Intel Core i5-2400 is significantly faster in many of our tests. It's not all bad news for AMD - before we get accused of being biased towards Intel, we have no qualms recommending the A8-3870K for those looking to build a budget gaming PC, while we also recommend many of its graphics cards. Do drop the CPU OC its so easy why pay for it.

As it stands, the FX-8120 will have to be a lot cheaper for it to be worth considering over an equivalently-priced Intel setup, while owners of the Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition can rest assured that there aren't any worthwhile upgrades yet.

To save some bucks now going to a i5 3570k is a great idea and go with the cheapest GPU for now or if you have one already use it till the Kepler power GTX660 comes out.

I do recommend building your own rig not buying, you will have fun learning and taking control of your computational needs, and get more gaming power for your buck. I have added a few more links, hope they help.

What is the best Mac,HD camera and LCD and HDTV displays for video editing?

Q. I need advice on a good Mac configuration for HD video editing and animation. Money is no factor but it doesn't have to be the most expensive stuff, I just need it to be powerful so I don't have to buy a new one for a few years. I also need advice on 2 good displays for editing (I suppose a wide DELL model monitor and a wide HD video editing display) and a couple of good HD cameras.

A. In regards to your question about HD cameras, I'd like to recommend you look at Panasonic cameras. I use the HVX-200A, which is an incredibly versatile camera. It shoots HD footage to P2 memory cards, which allows for quick ingestion into your NLE. You can also check out the Panasonic HMC 140 or the HMC 150. They are cheaper than the HVX and shoot HD to SD cards, rather than P2 cards. You can read the following articles which discuss my first impressions with the HVX

Is it possible to play a video signal from a laptop on a television?
Q. I have video files on my laptop that I want to play on a television screen. Is it possible to play them on the television without burning to a DVD and using a DVD player? Is there anything like a USB to RCA cable that could export the video signal as if it were from a DVD or VHS player? Would I need a special program to do this?

Thanks.

A. If you buy the proper VGA cable you can hook up the laptop to an LCD tv and act as a giant monitor...its pretty awesome. However if you do not have an LCD TV you're options are somewhat limited. If your laptop has S-video out or something like that you could go that route. I'm aware of products that convert s-video to RCA but I'm not sure about USB. Check out some consumer level video editing solutions you may find what you're looking for with one of those. Or if your laptop has firewire and you have a camera that has firewire you may be able to pass the signal through the camera to the TV. I'm not sure how tech savy you are.

Cheers

i want to bring a 27 inch of tv monitor for my computer in the philippines.i need to pay tax in the philippine?

Q. im planning to buy a 27 inches of lcd tv monitor here in saudi arabia.but im worried when im arrived in the phillipines.i need to pay tax for it?

A. I think forget it! you'll pay tax for that! But if that has it sentimental value why not try to? But buying new monitor here is cheaper than bringing that home!

Welcome home! God Bless!

How big should my widescreen LCD be to match a normal LCD's height?
Q. I am thinking about upgrading to a widescreen LCD monitor with my new computer. How big should a widescreen LCD be to have the same screen height as a 17" and/or a 19" regular LCD monitor?

A. Hi. The screen's resolution should equal the number of pixels in the LCD, so size is not the main issue. My LCD has 1280 by 1024 pixels, so that is what I run at. The 17" and 19" dimensions are the hypotenuse values (diagonal). I don't know the brands you are looking at but try to have at LEAST 1024 vertical pixels.

Which one displays better: A PC monitor or a Full HD LCD TV?

Q. Just curious, if you took an LCD/LED PC monitor and a Full HD LCD/LED TV set, both of the same size, both using the same input (eg. HDMI), displayed both at 1920 x 1080 resolution, would the one have an advantage in terms of display over the other, or would they be exactly the same?

A. The monitor will have a clearer picture as it is designed to interface directly with a computer. A TV has to translate the signal from the computer to simulate a TV picture. For most uses the differences wouldn't be noticeable, but fine detail and screen refresh rates would be worse on the "comparable" TV screen.

This assumes both have the same pixel size/density and quality of screen. Many cheaper (as usually included with computer bundles) monitors will have larger/more widely spaced pixels which equal a fuzzy picture when working with fine detail work.

What kind of display should I buy for my computer?
Q. I got it narrowed down between a 22" 1080P LED-LCD TV for $239.00, or a regular 22" LCD PC monitor for $189.00. What would I be better off with? The TV has the PC input.

A. choose plane 22'' LCD PC monitor LED doesn't make difference worth $50. wanna invest more money then try wider screen. \m/
BTW i don't see any point for larger screen if u are not using it for gaming and "extensive" graphic work. Better if u use it
it can be cnkktd to ps3 and xbox tooo....

How can I detach my laptop's monitor?
Q. I'd like to detach the screen, then extend the connections it has to the CPU so that the laptop would essentially become a PC with a separate monitor. I plan on wall mounting the Touch Screen LCD, then running a wire/wires to the base of the laptop hidden away.

Any ideas? Has anyone tried such a thing?

A. Its WAY above your head. The mylar strip that sends signals to the monitor tears very easily. I suggest you forget the idea.

Would you help me build my first computer?

Q. I want to build my first computer in the spring of 2007 and I'd like recommendations from computer builders and experts out there now so I can start buying the parts over the few months.

I'd like a "wish list" of parts you recommend to include: cpu, mobo, case, PSU, HDD's, RAM, graphics and audio card, operating system, necessary ports, slots, and anything else you'd care to recommend.

I don't have any preconceived ideas about what I want or need, so you are free to recommend whatever.

I have an LCD monitor that I'm going to have to live with for a while.

The only advice I can give you is this: I am not a gamer and probably never will be. Not that I have a thing against gamers; I just don't think I would ever be interested in getting into that.

I'll use the computer for photo and video editing for the most part.

Pleae provide brand names and model numbers for everything you recommend.

Only one limitation, the price $1000 or less.

A. I spent years working my own business, building systems, troubleshooting and teaching in home.

Building a computer is easy. The hardest part is making sure all the items work together and that is easy too.

There is no mind numbing twists to it.
I suggest www.newegg.com they are extremely reliable and as far as I have dealt with them stand behind their sales.

If you want to make it easy buy a combo (motherboard with a CPU and fan on it. This is the hardest part since you do need car in putting a CPU in since you could chip or crack it. Draw back is you will spend a little more money on it since they are putting it one). In fact you can even get memory on it at the same time.

Now the basic steps are,

1) Decide what you need (for a gamer the fast the better, for a home average user then as fast as the budget will allow.... basically any speed that is near modern (2+ ghz - at the danger of being called a lunitic I might even say going as low as 1.5ghz isn't insane if you aren't a gamer) is plenty, software hasn't kept up with CPU speeds).

2) AMD or Intel.... AMD is cheaper but possibly a little less reliable (more the cheap AMD compatible motherboards than the CPU). Intel is more money but usually more stable. If you want to over-clock (make a computer run faster than it was meant to) then AMD is usually easier.

Now your ready to start buying,

1) Choose a motherboard that is capable of the speeds you want.

2) If it wasn't a combo motherboard then simply look at the specs for the MB (MB=motherboard) and choose a processor that will work with it.

3) Again look at the specs for the MB and choose the memeory (here more memory the better)

4) Choose a video card, sound card (if the motherboard doesn't have them built in). I always suggested to customers that it was ok to have the sound onboard but you really would be better of with the video card installed since video requires a lot of work that is shoved on the shoulders of the CPU chip when it is built into the MB.

5) Buy a hard drive, floppy drive, CD (CDRW) or/and DVD.

6) Buy your software.

(The support at new egg with help you make sure it is all compatible).

Now after all that (I know it was a jist of the work) I you are shooting for $1000 or less, I would probably suggest buying a prebuilt system from dell or such ONLY because (for example) if you use Windows XP then you will need to purchase a new copy at close to $200. That means after the operating system you now have $900 for the hardware (that does not take into account ANY other software you would want to buy). Now $900 will build you a very nice system (not a burning meteor but very good).

If you meant $1000 for only the hardware then build since you plan to put more in for software. Figure probably around $300 for software (less if you are bringing a lot off the old system). For a system bought through dell or such you are pretty much getting your moneys worth (since they have so much software).

I mainly told customers that when building a system (non-gamming) it would be good to bring over your old CDRW, DVD, floppy, possibly hard drive. This saves a lot of cash.

I know this was very round about but you seem to still be deciding whether to build or not.

So in conclusion (my opinions)
Build if you are bringing CDRW(CD), DVD, floppy, possibly hard drive from the old system since this will cut back on costs (if you are building to save money).
Don't build if you want everything NEW (including software) your better of buying the system.

Mike

** Noticed this after posting: "Video editing". If you mean like making home movies (1/2 hour + run time) get LOTS of memeory and PLEANTY of hard drive... Also look to the faster CPUs)

Should I get a Apple Cinema display or a LCD TV for my Powermac G5?
Q. I am planning to buy some type of monitor for my Powermac G5. The Mac Cinema display is $899 and is 24 inches. However, I am thinking that I can get a decent sized flat screen tv for that price or less. My question is, would there be any lag using the tv for computer purposes such as video editing etc. Or should I just get the Cinema Display.

A. The Apple 24" LED Cinema Display will not work with your Powermac G5.

You will have to use some other monitor.

The LED Cinema Display will only work with the newer Macs that have a miniDisplayPort-- It will not work with older Macs that only have ACD, VGA or DVI.

What would be the system requirements to run crysis at ultra high settings ?

Q. I'm looking to buy a new system soon and want a system that can run crysis maxed out at 1920x1200, what would be the specs of a computer that could do this thanks, would a single gtx 460 be a good enough gpu for this ??

Thanks.

A. You will not have a very good experience in Crysis at 1920x1200 with FSAA enabled on a single GTX 460. You're frame rate will avg out around 20-25 fps, which is very laggy. I have a single GTX 480 and it can barely pull over 30 fps at these same settings.

Running the game with no AA will help, but at 1200p it's still going to lag at times. SLI is the way to go if you want to run this game over 30 fps at these settings.

You could also dial back the resolution a bit, but I myself can't stand running games at anything but the native resolution when it comes to LCD monitors.

If you're dead set on running this game on a single GTX 460, stick to "high" settings as opposed to "very high", or you will be disappointed.

What to look when choosing a gaming monitor?
Q. What should I look in when during a gaming monitor? LCD or LED? 1920x1080 or 1920x1200? what should the contrast ratio be? -5s response time?
Any recommendations from ncix.com?? that is the closest store from where i live.

A. You want the higher resolution, it will look better. 1920X1200 For sure. The rest doesn't really matter, it's the resolution and the size of the screen that's most important. Don't worry about the response time, it is all so fast, that you won't notice a difference. Hope this helps :)

Is my laptop screen a LCD or LED ?

Q. I'm looking to replace my screen but do not want to buy the wrong screen

This is my laptop

And here is the one I want to replace it with
http://www.amazon.com/INSPIRON-B156XW02-LAPTOP-SUBSTITUTE-REPLACEMENT/dp/B004JRDQQU/ref=pd_cp_e_1

Are these two the same ?

A. Without even looking at the links you provided I can tell you with absolute certainty that both are LCD.

ALL current screens are LCD.

where "LED" gets involved is that older LCD displays are back-lit by Cold Cathode Florescent tubes
while newer ones are backlit by LED's

Sales and marketing people intentionally (or ignorantly) blur this dinction and sell
"LED Back-lit Monitors" as "LED monitors" which is something they are certainly NOT,
because the latter does not currently exsist as a common consumer item
(unless you are wiling to pony up ~$18,000(US) for such a display...)

There are no current "pure" LED displays as "production" items.

Allegedly there will be some on the marketed mid 2012, but only time will tell if that happens or not.

That all being said:
http://www.amazon.com/INSPIRON-B156XW02-LAPTOP-SUBSTITUTE-REPLACEMENT/dp/B004JRDQQU/ref=pd_cp_e_1

States "LCD" in the description

The Dell 1545 was sold with both florescent (CCF) in two different resolutions
and an optional LED backlit display. (in the higher resolution)

I don't know about the compatibility between the different displays or retrofitting displays

A good monitor for consoles?
Q. I'm in need of a new monitor for video editing, PS3 console gaming, and as a good display here is what Im looking for:

I have a 15 inch 2012 macbook pro that i invested heavily in as a student, and my primary focus for a monitor is one that I will be satisfied for years to come, until I decide it's time to move on. As for price, I will go as high as it takes, but since I'm a kid under $200 is looking very nice for me. I don't have a lot of know how on gaming monitors and I need one that can work with an el gato capture card, as well as has the proper cables/inputs for my mac. I've been told for console gaming you'd want to stay off of a monitor and for tv, but I think thats BS because computer monitors have a lot lower input lag then a tv would, which is important for a fast game like call of duty. But I really dont know, My primary need is a good screen to edit on, but it needs to be able to work with my el gato/ps3 setup I got going. Links, youtube videos, and thoughts on your own brand of monitor would be greatly appreciated. I don't know where to start my research, maybe someone can steer me in the right direction

I found this monitor, and it seems to be really good. A little too good for the price. I'm not sure what I'm missing with it. If you guys can check it out, tell me what you think: Thanks!!

Why red line is coming on my lcd monitor?

Q. I am using LG 17 inch lcd monitor, its 2 years old one.
a thin red line is coming vertically in the middle of the screen, i am not able to understand why its coming.

if any body knows please suggest me.

A. Your monitor problem !!

How much less energy does an LCD monitor use compared to a CRT?
Q. Just to be comparative, let's say a 19 inch LCD monitor vs. a 19 inch CRT monitor used for the same amount of time. How much less energy does the average LCD use and could that add up to any significant savings over a month's or year's time? I'm just curious, and if it really makes a difference, I'll factor that in to my purchase.

A. Energy Requirements: LCD monitors are extremely economical when it comes to power consumption. Their consumption is in the region of 25 -50 watts compared to CRT which consume like 60-80 watts for a 15 inch model to almost 70 to 150 for 17 and 19 inch models.

The photos on my camera look different on the computer?

Q. The pictures on my camera look paler (less saturated?) on my computer screen than they do on the camera screen. Is this because one screen is LCD(camera) and the other is Plasma? Also, on the computer, the photos appear stretched wider than they do on the camera screen, is this because the laptop has a widescreen diplay?
Also, when i get them dveloped, will the colour be the brighter or duller version?

A. It may well be that your computers monitor is not calibrated properly.

The LCD on your camera should provide a close approximation of what your camera captured when you pressed the shutter release.

If your computers monitor is so much different than the image you see on the camera, all you can do is calibrate your monitor ... and that is a little costly. EyeOne and Spyder make such calibration tools, but they will cost you over $200.

When you get your image files printed, they will look more like what they look like on your cameras LCD

Why does the color temperature always look MUCH different on my LCD than in ACR?
Q. For instance, a pleasantly warm image on the LCD of my 5DMKII looks far too orange in ACR. I have tried screen calibration and all.

Is this common?

Of course, it's not a big deal, as I can just turn the temperature down in ACR, but I would just like to know what exactly is the reason for this, and if there's anything I can do about it.

Thanks for help in advance.

A. It is very common.

You cannot depend upon the cameras LCD to provide accurate colour representation.

Even when using your much larger computer monitor, it needs to be calibrated and profiled if you want to know that the colour you are producing is going to as close to what you want.

Here is what a lot of us use to assure as perfect colour representation, especially when shooting fashion or in unusual lighting conditions.

http://www.xritephoto.com/ph_learning.aspx?action=webinarsarchive&eventid=1026&eventdateid=4869

Using this tool and shooting in RAW, it does not matter how the LCD looks during your shoot

I am wanting to buy a 22" lcd monitor. Can you give me any useful information about one?

Q. Right now i have a Dell 17" lcd monitor and was wanting a 22" Dell lcd monitor.I only use my computer for about 3 hours a day.Can you give me the pros and cons to buy one or not to buy one.I'm not really a computer genius but i would like to know if i would really benifit from a larger monitor. Thanks

If it means anything i am using a Radeon x300 graphics.

A. you will have a much larger viewing area than a 17 inch, MUCH MUCH MUCH. you iell be able to fit more programs/windows on one screen. if it was me id go for it cuse i just like bigger monitors, and i was in ur position once (or a similar one) and i went for it and was very happy i did. but if you want to save your money, dont get one or wait for a good deal, like i got mine for $200 at bestbuy :). make sure it has at least a 5 ms response time, dvi and vga input, and anything above a 700:1 contrast ratio. and thats its not some cheap brand, get one made by someone like westinghouse, LG, samsung, etc.. not some office depot only brand.
p.s.
if you get this monitor gaming performance (if you game) will be greatly decreased, expecially with that graphics card.

What should I look for in an LCD monitor?

Q. I want to hook up an LCD monitor to my laptop. I do mainly Excel/Outlook work so I am more concerned about crisp, clear text than color matching. Which specifications should I focus on? Any recomendations on a specific make/model? I am looking for a 19" or 21" Widescreen for under $250.

A. Getting a monitor at 19 or 21, or even 22 inches is very doable for under $250. I don't agree with the previous answer, since you don't seem that interested in high-powered gaming. I work from home on an Viewsonic Q19WB 19" widescreen monitor. It has a 1440x900 resolution, 5ms latency time, 700:1 Contrast ratio. I scored it for $120 after a $20 rebate from Buy.com in December.

I do a lot of the same tasks as you where text clarity is of utmost importance. I actually split screen with Excel or Word and other programs to cross-reference and extract data from one side to the other, and this monitor does the trick for me.

There are good monitors that pop up all the time on deal sites like Slickdeals.net that I would highly suggest you monitor if you are really interested in purchasing a monitor. You could get a huge bang for your buck there and get the monitor that you desire. Good luck!

There has to be a way to clean the glass panel. It's not attached to the screen directly so there's no reason for it to damage it

A. There is not any way to disassemble the monitor and have it work afterward

Could a 1080p monitor bottleneck a Radeon HD 7970?

Q. I have the ASUS VE247H Black 23.6" Full HD HDMI LED BackLight LCD Monitor. It's 1920 x 1080 2ms. I am planning on getting a Radeon HD 7970 that is 4096 x 2160. A. The monitor would have nothing to do with it.

Switching from Headset to TV speakers without unplugging it?
Q. I can't do that on my Samsung B2330HD 23" LCD HDTV Monitor Full HD 1080p HDMI, is there a device that can do that? Thank you!

A. It's not a question of a device, it's the design. The headphone jack on the TV has a switch that disconnects the internal speakers when headphones are plugged in.

What might work is if you had an external amplifier (like a home theater system) and used that to drive speakers and the headphones.

Should I get an LCD monitor without a tv tuner or an LCD TV with tuner?

Q. Should I get an LCD monitor without a tv tuner or an LCD TV with tuner? I'm thinking about getting a 30-32" screen for my computer that I will use a lot (and mostly for computing purposes and probably watching Blu-Ray and Netflix on). It seems like LCD monitors without tuners that are 30" are significantly more expensive than LCD TV's. Why is that?

Which should I get?

A. I would suggest getting one without, and buying a tuner for your computer. Only 70 bucks at best buy and you can get a even better monitor without the tuner. It sounds like you are getting a TV that doubles as a Computer Monitor which in most cases is not good. A true monitor will give you the best quality compared to a tv with Monitor Capabilities. Also you can hook up your Cable to the TV tuner and DVR shows, and save yourself some money but not having a dvr from the cable company if you have one already. Go Single Monitor Only, you will be much happier, and buy the tuner separate. Link below for Tuner Cost. I am sure there are cheaper out there but this is the one I use and it has been great.

dell lcd monitor, appearing a colour strip on the screen?

Q. I own a Dell LCD monitor though it is working normally, a thread like something appear on the screen. It is pink in colour and sometime also with light green and yellow. Though all the other function is normal i would like to know the reason.

A. Most likely a bad electrical connection at the edge of the screen at that spot for that line of pixels, usually occurs after an impact of some kind, but can occur just because. Not much you can really do about it other than replace the screen or whole monitor.

monitor for a graphic artist and 32/64 bit question?

Q. Hello,

I am planning to buy a new monitor and a lot of people are recommending me to get a LCD monitor. Though I plan to buy a larger 17' inch CRT monitor because of it's color quality and low-priced. I really don't know what to look at in a monitor that would be perfect for my kind of work. (graphic design)

Probably newer LCDs nowadays are as good in terms of color quality as than CRTs I really don't know.

So far, I just figured out that my processor is 32-bit. According to a friend of mine it's part of the reason why even with 2gb RAM my system runs as it had 512mb RAM instead of 2gb. Is there I way I could fix this so that my system runs faster?

thank you
As for the 32-bit question:

My PC's spec:
Intel Pentium Dual CPU E2140 @ 1.60Ghz
2gb RAM

A. Generally, LCDs will give you much better picture with a higher resolution and better color accuracy. Besides, I don't even know where you would find a CRT monitor anymore. The only draw backs to an LCD is that they are more expensive and can not always show a true black due to their back lighting. This can be solved if you can find an LCD with and LED back light. Look for specs such as contrast ratio, brightness, resolution, and even viewing angle.

The question about you CPU is kinda difficult to answer because you did not say what CPU you have. So, I will assume it at least somewhat new. In which case it can operate in either 32 bit or 64 bit. this is a function of the operating system, not the CPU (I assume you have Windows). YOUR FRIEND IS WRONG. 32bit Windows, whether XP or Vista, does have a limitation on the amount of RAM it can recognize, however, the limit is 3.5gigs. Your system WILL recognize and use all 2gigs of the RAM you have. If you want to increase your RAM past 3.5gigs you will need to get a 64bit version of Windows.

LCD or CRT is the best for a designer?
Q. I using a CRT - but want to replace by an LCD 17" - Could i do that? if yes, which one is the best? Thanks so much!

A. What are you designing? Many graphic artists, architects, etc. prefer CRTs because they can display at different resolutions natively, whereas LCDs must manipulate the image digitally to use a different fullscreen resolution (which reduces image quality). Also, if you are very picky, you will notice that on dark images, the screen is never lit completely evenly from behind on an LCD monitor, while the lighting is always even and accurate on a CRT. If you want an LCD, Apple (strangely enough) actually makes VERY nice LCD monitors, but they are on the pricey side.

Edit: also, make sure the LCD you get supports whatever output your video card has. If your video card has DVI, you are fine, as there are adapters to Analog. If you have only Analog output from your video card, make sure you get an LCD monitor that supports it.

What is the monitor called where you don't have to struggle to find the best viewing angle?

Q. My lap top monitor is a constant annoyance because of the restricted viewing angle. My TV, an old style model, has no viewing problems based on the angle of viewing. When I buy my next laptop I don't want this problem. What is the type of display called where there is no problem of this kind?

A. LCD screen with In-Plane Switching (abbreviated to IPS) displays have wider viewing angles. You'll find it mostly in higher-end laptops, like Sony's Vaio S series.

How to change the the resolution on my LCD monitor for my PS3?
Q. I got a Viewsonic VA2448m-LED 60cm/24" (23,6" viewable) Widescreen LCD monitor that supports Full HD 1920x1080 resolution. Whenever i play most games a "Resolution Notice" pops up that says for best picture quality change resolution to 1920x1080? ive searched the menu and cant find any way to? is it already on that resolution?

A. The console should automatically adjust resolution. I believe the only options available is to change the quality in the ps3 settings. Make sure it's on 1080p and not 720p.

Using Monitor filter or change mine to LCD monitor could be better for my eyes?

Q. I'm sitting in front of the computer most of the day and still not using any filter to my CRT monitor.
What could be better to prevent my pain in eyes? Using a filter to the CRT or changing my monitor to LCD one?

A. You're still using a CRT?

If your CRT isn't capable of refresh rates at least above 76hz, then you should replace it.

LCD doesn't have that same refresh problem, so there won't be any flickering. It's mainly this flickering that causes eyestrain.

LCD also has a much brighter, crisper picture when sitting close, and isn't nearly as susceptible to glare because the outer screen of a LCD isn't made from glass, like CRT is.

If your eyes are still giving you problems and you wear glasses, many eyeglass places can make glasses that use a special coating that is supposed to help reduce eyestrain when using a computer.

Otherwise, every 15 minutes, you should look away from the screen and try focusing on an object that's far away (further than your arm's length at least) for a few seconds. This will help exercise your eye muscles and keep them from getting tired from just focusing at one length for so long.

What is the Windows PC monitor equivalent to Apple Mac monitor?
Q. What is the Windows PC monitor equivalent to the Apple Mac monitor?
I'm not talking about programs or software, I'm talking about the actual hardware monitor.

A. Hi Melissa, hope sincerely you are fine.

If you are not talking about software, then certainly you mean the LCD technology behind! The LCD Panel inside iMacs are manufactured by LG, they are made in China and only assembled in California by Apple. For example the 27" LCD in iMac have the following specs: LED-backlit glossy widescreen TFT active-matrix liquid crystal display with IPS technology,
Resolution: 2560 by 1440 pixels,
Typical brightness: 375 cd/m2,
It can be attached to a wall mount, articulating arm, or other VESA-compliant mounting solution using the optional VESA Mount Adapter Kit. Technically speaking, it is really hard to get an equivalent Monitor using this LCD technology in the market presently. I don't find any monitor competing with the Apple LCD technology.

As for the Apple Cinema Display 27" (i.e monitor only) the following can be noted:
27-inch (diagonal viewable image size) thin film transistor (TFT) active-matrix liquid crystal display with in-plane switching (IPS).

Supported resolutions: 2560 by 1440 pixels, 1920 by 1080 pixels, 1280 by 720 pixels
Colors (maximum): 16.7 million
Aspect ratio: 16:9
Viewing angle: 178° horizontal; 178° vertical
Brightness (typical): 375 cd/m2
Contrast ratio (typical): 1000:1
Response time (typical): 12 ms

To get the equivalent for this is really really hard although not impossible. According to my experience, I haven't seen another display equivalent to the Apple Cinema Display. That said, the Apple Cinema Display has it's disadvantages as well for eg it uses a Mini Display Port!

I know that i haven't answer your question by naming to you the exact equivalent monitor but I say that I haven't found anything matching the Apple Cinema Display yet. If you happen to get one that can match Apple's, please do let me know.

I hope that I have been of some help while sharing my experience to you Melissa. Wish you good luck. All the best.

How do you connect your ps3 to your lcd computer monitor to play games?

Q. I would like to play ps3 games in full hd but I don't have enough money to cough up for a new hdtv. I have a VH242H Asus LCD monitor(24 inches). Do you need an hdmi to dvi cable? or can you connect it using hdmi directly since my monitor has an hdmi port. How do acquire audio?

A. you can use a HDMI cable to your computer. Once it starts up it should automatically reset the settings, or you can go to the settings to adjust them.

Audio will be set up after you have done the video settings on your PS3 (like right after so they arn't seperate) or they should automatically be done.

What kind of adapter do I need to buy to hook up my video game consoles to my lcd monitor?
Q. I have acer 24" lcd monitor. No speaker port only a hdmi port. I want to connect my xbox(original), wii, ps2, gamecube, etc. to it. What type adapter do I need to purchase in order play all my consoles using the monitor.

A. It has an HDMI port?

None of the systems you listed have HDMI output.

So you may need to see if you can find a converter for the three-pronged "Composite" signal into HDMI. They aren't common.

Do all LCD monitors with a resolution by 1080 have 1080p? And does having 1080p mean it is full HD?
Q. Im planning to buy a full hd lcd monitor for my computer. I use it for watching movies and playing games. But i don't quit know how to determine if it is full HD. And would you guys know the benefits of having a full hd lcd monitor

A. If you want to play back Blu-Ray DVDs at full pixel-for-pixel 1080p High-Definition, you need the following:

1) A Blu Ray drive.

2) An HDCP-compliant video card.

3) An HDCP-compliant monitor that can display 1920x1080. (So in a nutshell, "Full HD" monitor = HDCP compliance and 1920x1080 resolution-capable.)

Keep in mind that HDCP-protected digital high-def video content like Blu Ray discs requires both the vid card and monitor to be HDCP-compliant. If one of those pieces are not, HD Blu Ray movie playback will NOT work.

Hope this helps.

how good are the AOC lcd monitors?is this company good in monitors?

Q. i came to know that AOC provide cheapest lcd monitor in india.
i need 22" monitor in chandigarh.
is this company trustworthy?

A. Obviously I can't vouch for them if they are trustworthy or if they have good customer support. However I have heard about them for some time now even though I have never owned one myself. They seem pretty good from what seen in stores and magazines. I haven't heard anything bad about them.

It's all a matter of preference and brand name. If you don't care about brand names they should be just as good as most of the top names out there but without the high prices of the brand names. If you get a good deal on one I say go for it. Just look for the specs that is the most important. Most monitors should last for years if you take care of them.

Which is the best 20" wide LCD monitor ? Am a designer i need a monitor with good resolution?
Q. I need to buy an LCD monitor Wide 20" with good resolution, am a designer and need to get the best view. Please suggest. Also Did anyone knows what is the actual retail price of Corsair DDR3 RAM (6GB)? and the price for Gigabyte EX 58 UD3 mother board?

A. why 20 inches?
its a better deal to spend a bit more and get a simple 22 to 24 inch screen.
Like what I found:
Acer B233HU 23in 2048x1152 - 234USD
I'm looking for a monitor also, and I also do a bit of graphics design. I opted for increased resolution and larger screen size, although actual measurements its really just my existing monitor that's 6 inches wider.
or how about this one:
Auria EQ236 1080p 23.6in - 180USD
resolution is a bet smaller, if you prefer to have icons and screen images to be a bit larger.

corsair 6GB ddr3 1600 is around $150
gigabyte ud3's are around $200
