Difference btw lcd monitors and HD tvs?

Q. I am thinking of buying an lcd monitor with and hdmi inlet to play videogames on my ps3 in hd, but i am concerned about the quality of the picture will it match that of the hd tvs or not.
@Brian is it possible to output the sound via a headphone
@Brian i mean is possible to connect the component cable from the PS3 directly to a headphone using "2 RCA PHONO FEMALE to 3.5mm" converters, thanks in advance

A. You can use certain monitors for games consoles I run my PS3 through a samsung monitor. As long as the

1. Monitor is full HD,
2. has a DVI connection in, and
3.is HDCP compatible (check on the manufacturers website)

you can run a PS3 on it. You will need a HDMI to DVI converter or cable about 3 quid off ebay.

The only thing you lose by doing this is sound so you have to use the component cable from the PS3 into a set of speakers using a small converted of type "2 RCA PHONO FEMALE to 3.5mm" only about 2 quid off ebay and you have a setup that is fully HD picture but only standard stereo sound .

All in all it will cost about 5/6 quid to make it work.

EDIT: For speakers you need a 2 RCA phono to "male" 3.5mm, for headphones you need a 2 RCA phono to "female" 3.5mm converter

A. High Definition is anything above 720p. 720p is 1280x720 resolution, and those two monitors are definitely capable of that (since their resolution is 1680x1050), and since they are HDCP-compliant, you can use them to play back HDCP-protected high-def content like Blu-Ray discs.

What those two monitors cannot do is 1080p full HD, which is 1920x1080 resolution. (That is the maximum resolution Blu-Ray playback is capable of.)

How to change the the resolution on my LCD monitor for my PS3?

Q. I got a Viewsonic VA2448m-LED 60cm/24" (23,6" viewable) Widescreen LCD monitor that supports Full HD 1920x1080 resolution. Whenever i play most games a "Resolution Notice" pops up that says for best picture quality change resolution to 1920x1080? ive searched the menu and cant find any way to? is it already on that resolution?

A. The console should automatically adjust resolution. I believe the only options available is to change the quality in the ps3 settings. Make sure it's on 1080p and not 720p.

A. If you want to play back Blu-Ray DVDs at full pixel-for-pixel 1080p High-Definition, you need the following:

1) A Blu Ray drive.

2) An HDCP-compliant video card.

3) An HDCP-compliant monitor that can display 1920x1080. (So in a nutshell, "Full HD" monitor = HDCP compliance and 1920x1080 resolution-capable.)

Keep in mind that HDCP-protected digital high-def video content like Blu Ray discs requires both the vid card and monitor to be HDCP-compliant. If one of those pieces are not, HD Blu Ray movie playback will NOT work.

Q. I want to purchase a LCD TV/LCD Monitor for my PC. Which should I purchase - LCD TV or LCD monitor. Is LCD TV harmful for eyes as compared to LCD Monitor? Which is the best one LCD TV or LCD Monitor?

A. A LCD MONITOR does not have a built in tuner...

That's the ONLY difference between the same model...

They are great if you know you'll be connected to Satellite or Cable and using their HD Set top boxes for the next 10 - 15 years.

If you're unsure, get the LCD TV.
If it was harmful to the eyes, do you think they would be allowed to sell it?
