What would i need a mac mini to have on the back if i want to use my 42" lcd TV as it's monitor?

Q. I'm wanting to purchase a mac mini. What does it need/require to utilize a 42" Hitachi LCD TV as it's monitor?

A. 42-inch LCD HDTVs usually have HDMI ports.

Your Mac Mini will have a miniDVI port on the back. Apple used to include a miniDVI-to-DVI adapter with Mac Minis, but no longer, so now you will have to buy the adapter separately.

You will need a miniDVI-to-DVI adapter and a DVI-to-HDMI cable. I have also heard of third-party miniDVI-to-HDMI cables, and those will work too if you can find one.

I'm using a miniDVI-to-DVI adapter and a DVI-to-HDMI cable to connect my Mac Mini to my 52-inch LCD HDTV, and it works perfectly: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpg

Hope this helps.

will a mac mini work with a viewSonic VA800 LCD monitor?
Q. I am considering buying a Mac Mini.
I need a Mac to do code testing, but will continue to use my PC for most of my computing.
The Mac Mini is small and cheap.
However, I do not want to buy a new monitor.

I currently have my PC hooked up to a ViewSonic VA800 LCD which has inputs for multiple computers.

Is there any reason I would not be able to hook up a mac mini to this monitor.

A. Any screen will work.

=D

Can I use my own LCD monitor, USB keyboard and USB mouse with a Mac Mini?
Q. Or...do Mac Minies require Apple mice and keyboards?

A. can't see a difference, it is an input device so it should work, whether or not a driver is required? USB's are nomally plug n play? Monitor may use up a bit of memory, that would be the only down side?

can you use this monitor with the mac mini 320gb?

Q. http://www.aria.co.uk/Products/Displays/Monitors/TFT+24+%2B/Samsung+Lavender+SM-P2450H+24%22+True+HD+Widescreen+LCD+Monitor+-+Glossy+Black+?productId=39456

and if it works do you need to buy something more and what do you need to buy

A. Yes you can.

The Mac Mini (I'm assuming you are talking about the latest Mac Mini model) has an HDMI port.

You will need to buy an HDMI cable to connect the Mac Mini's HDMI port to that monitor's HDMI input.

What's a good, cheap widescreen LCD monitor with DVI connection for use with a Mac mini?

Q. So I wanted to know whats a good cheap widescreen monitor that will work with the new Mac mini?

How do you like it or why don't you like it?

I was wanting something within the $175 price range and at least 19 inches.

Thanks to all.

A. Look around for Acer.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N=2010190020%2050001146&name=Acer%20America

They offer very good, and relatively cheap monitors.
For $175 you could get like a 22" Acer, with brilliant color quality.

I have a 19" Samsung monitor, it was a bit pricier than the Acer ones, but its quality is quite a bit better.
Basically, bigger contrast ratio is better, like mine has 3000:1, and thats better than like 750:1 or 1000:1 or 2000:1.
And lower response time is better, mine has 2millisecond response, which is very fast.
Most of the Acers have 5ms, which is fine, but lower=better.

What sort of monitors does the mac Mini work with?
Q. I'm looking at buying a mac mini, but I'd really prefer to not pay another 500 dollars to get the mac's display, and the mac website is incredibly vague. Can I buy another display and attach it to the mac mini, or would that just not happen? thanks.

A. The Mac Mini has a DVI output jack, and it comes with a DVI-to-VGA adapter.

So it will work with any monitor that has either a DVI or VGA plug.

I own a Mac Mini, and I have used it with a variety of monitors from a 15-inch Dell LCD with just a VGA jack, to a 52" Sony Bravia LCD HDTV using a DVI-to-HDMI cable. They all worked beautifully.

Hope this helps.

Do u have to have a apple brand screen for a Mac mini?

Q. Im thinking about buying a Mac mini and I was wondering if u need those expensive apple monitors?

A. The Mac Mini will work with any monitor out there, as long as you have the right cable or adapter.

I'm using a 52-inch Sony LCD as my Mac Mini's monitor: http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpg

As you can see in the photo, it works perfectly. It's connected to my Mac Mini using an HDMI cable.

Can a Mac Mini connect to a standard LCD monitor with a VGA connection?
Q. Or do I need some type of converter?

A. It has a mini display port so you will need a mini display port to VGA adapter - some people have experienced issues with connectivity
