Best lcd monitor for gaming?

Q. I have a crt monitor right now which is fine and I like to mainly play cs1.6 and i heard crt monitors are better for gaming because it has something to do with faster refresh rates.Im getting tired of staring at my old crt and want a gaming lcd that will look great but also play great like a crt.I really like samsung.Id like the lcd to be at least 24 inches.

A. Refresh rate used to be a problem with older monitors. But LCD technology has advanced a lot and most games these days are played on flat-screen monitors.

I've got a 1-year-old Samsung 2233RZ 120Hz monitor for gaming and it works well for most of my games. It's a 24" monitor but I recommend getting a 32" Samsung or Viewsonic LCD.

What is the best valued LCD monitor for gaming.?
Q. I am willing to spend at most $500 including tax and shipping, but would prefer to keep it around $400. I currently have a 21" CRT Monitor that is too heavy for my new desk. I would like to get a 20+ inch LCD monitor but have no clue on what to get. Any tips?

A. This viewsonic looks good, in australia it retails at around 310 USD.

LCD or LED pc monitor for gaming?

Q. I plan on getting a 30' monitor which one LCD or LED for gaming?

A. They will both be LCD - that's the display technology that all flatscreen monitors use.
LED or not is to do with the backlighting.

The LED one uses LED lights as the backlight
The non-LED one used a fluorescent light as the backlight.

It is more important to choose one with a good contrast ratio and fast reponse time.
Monitors with slow response times will show a ghosted blurry image in fast moving screen action. Monitors with low contrast ratio will have blacks that are dark grey and colours that look washed out.

Ideally you want a high contrast ratio, a fast response time and LED backlight.

Does LCD monitors improves FRAME RATE for Video games?
Q. I am using a CRT. I have heard that VERTICAL SYNC has something to do with CRT technology. So do I need to buy an LCD?

A. yes, LCD will ALWAYS have a faster refresh rate than CRT, BUT, it won't improve your frame rate. a graphics card will do that, try buying hig-end graphics cards like the Nvidia 260gtx, it will do the job

What kind of lcd monitors are suitable for ps3 gaming?

Q. what kind of lcd monitors are suitable for ps3 gaming? just need to make sure it has a dvi or hdmi port right? and make sure it is hdcp compliant right? is the aspect ratio important? what about things like 720p etc
if a monitor supports only 1280x1024 resolution, which is 4:3 (right?), is it still compatible with ps3 gaming?

A. It should be HDCP compliant and ideally have a HDMI input, but DVI will work as well. If it only has VGA input (almost all new monitors now have at least one digital input) then you will need to use a transcoder box.
Many PS3 games are in 16:9 widescreen, so ideally you would want a monitor in that aspect ratio. Any resolution should look fine, but 1920x1080 resolution is needed to fully resolve every pixel in 1080p games. Anything higher than 1920x1080 is unnecessary and may actually degrade picture quality.
Fast response time is an important specification on LCD/LED monitors as well. Ideally, it should be no greater than 5 milliseconds.
LED monitors offer better contrast and color, but are more expensive than conventional LCD monitors.

A SXGA (1280x1024) monitor should be able to play the games, but you will either have letterboxing (black bars at the top and bottom) or a vertically stretched picture. SXGA monitors can display 720p perfectly. Set the aspect ratio of the game to 4:3 or Full if possible. Note that many LCD SXGA monitors are actually 5:4 aspect ratio.

How to choose the right LCD monitor for gaming?
Q. I am going to be using the LCD monitor with my Xbox 360 and I am having difficulties on what I should look for.

I can't seem to figure out what specs I am looking for. Can anyone tell me about which contrast ratio, vertical/ horizontal refresh rates, resolution, and brightness I should look for on an LCD monitor?

Also would it be better with HDMI or no? If possible can you also list a few monitors you would recommend?

A. HDMI is good, but expensive. DVI will give you the same result for a lot less.

Refresh rates are going to be about the same for every brand. However, some top of the line have 240 Hz rates - very good.

Resolution: 1920x1200 is HD widescreen.

Contrast of 1000:1 or better.

Response: 5 ms or less

Dot Pitch: 0.28 or less

Brightness: 300 cd at a bare minimum, get the highest.

How Good is LED monitor Compare to LCD Monitor For photo Editing and Gaming?

Q. I have thinking to Purchase LED or LCD monitor monitor for my photo editing purpose but also for GAming, but my question which are the best for editing?

A. For those who don't know, LED monitors are just LCD monitors that use bright white LEDs instead of fluorescent bulbs as the backlight.

The main advantage of LED monitors is that they consume much less power than traditional monitors. They can also have improved contrast ratios since LEDs can be dimmed over a wider range of brightness (the backlight is dimmed when displaying dark colors).

For accurate color reproduction when photo editing, either LED or LCD technology would be fine. The best monitor for the job would depend on other factors such as panel type. A more expensive IPS panel would be better than a cheaper TN panel that would have significant color shifting when the viewing angle changed.
