When does a LCD TV become too big to use as a computer monitor?

Q. I"m considering the purchase of a new 42 in LCD TV and I'd like to be able to use it as a computer monitor for my laptop. It seems to me like at a certain point it would be stimulus overload to have too big of a TV screen for computer tasks like word processing and checking email. How big is too big?

A. I'm using a 52" and I'm never going back to anything smaller. http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpg

I think big screens are IDEAL for word processing, email and websurfing. Nothing like big, easy-to-read text. :-)

As soon as the new 70-inch LCD HDTVs become affordable, that's what I'm moving to.

Just make sure you got a 10-foot-long monitor cable to connect to your LCD TV so you can sit a bit far from it to get a nice view of the screen. Remember you are NOT supposed to sit with your face pressed up against a big-screen TV like the person below does. :-D

How can I permanently increase the size of ALL pages on my computer?
Q. I know I can click on "view" and "increase text size" to make my page larger, but it goes back to it's default size next time I boot up. I want ALL text and images on my computer to be larger; not just the text. How can I do this? Thank you!

A. You can achieve this by lowering the resolution on your computer. The trade off, if using an LCD monitor, is that things aren't as sharp or crisp as the higher resolution. So, say your current setting is 1024x768, changing it to 800x600 will make everything larger. You can change this setting my right-clicking on your desktop and selecting properties. Then go to Settings then change the screen resolution to something lower. Keep going lower until you find one that best suits you.
