what's the difference between lcd monitor and flat screen?

Q. is an lcd monitor like the really old big monitors or do they not sell those anymore? i want to buy a monitor but i want a thin, flat, light one. what is the difference?

A. Flat screen could be an old CRT monitor that has, (get this..hehe) a flat screen as opposed to a slightly domed screen. In other words, a "flat screen monitor" won't necessarily be LCD.

A flat panel monitor is what you are thinking of when you say you want a thin one. It will be LCD.

Why does my LCD monitor go out like this? Unplugging it for a minute fixes it for a while?
Q. I have an LG 1952TQ LCD monitor. Every so often, about once every 2 months, overnight, while the computer is off, the monitor will lose all power. If I unplug it, wait a minute, and then plug it back in, it turns back on, and then it'll go about another 2 months before it does it again. The monitor never does this during the day, while I'm on the computer. It has always done it overnight, while I'm sleeping. What could be the cause of this?

A. It is your power settings. Sounds like your monitor is going into sleep mode and not waking up in certain situations. You can power your monitor off when you are not using it or you can adjust the power settings in the control panel so that your monitor does not sleep.
