Whats a good response time for a LCD monitor that has zero ghosting and is good for games and movies?

Q. Whats a good response time for a LCD monitor that has zero ghosting and is good for games and movies?

A. Around 8mS response would be fine for what you want it for.

Does the cable used with an LCD monitor effect response time?
Q. I have two old Dell LCD 19" monitors with 20 ms response time. They have VGA and DVI ports. Will the port I use effect the response time? There's a slightly noticeable trail when I play video games. Any other settings I can change to help with this?
@ Denver Al: You've misunderstood. I am asking about my monitor response time, not my computer's ability to display graphics well. We're talking about milliseconds here, not choppy frame-rate from having a bad video card.

A. Response time & lag are heavily affected by the speed & capacity of the video card, available memory for both the main computer and video card, video resolution (the lower the resolution, the faster the response), computer processor speed & type, as well as the monitor performance themselves. So there are many things that can be causing that, the video cable itself and the difference between DVI & VGA is the least of your problems.

UPDATE:
Sorry Michael, it seemed like you were asking about response time overall as you were asking if the video cable or video ports were an important factor. As for the monitor's response time, that's a fixed constant to the technology that was used at the time the monitor was made. There is nothing you can do to modify the monitor's response time.
