Hanns G 281D 28" LCD monitor 1920 x 1200 windows vista 64?

Q. I just bought this monitor this week and today i got the hdmi cable in the mail. my pc is only showing 1920 x 1080 as an option and there is a black border around the picture. it looks good, but it should be able to fill the screen with 1920 x 1200. any help would be great. thank you

A. Hmm... I would try this first: Go into Control Panel, choose Adjust Screen Resolution, then click on Advanced Settings. Click on the Monitor tab, and un-check the "Hide modes that this monitor cannot display" box, and click Apply. Then, click on the Adapter tab, and click on "List All Modes." See if 1920x1200 is available, and if it is, choose it.

If that doesn't help, try downloading the latest reference version of your video card's drivers. Sometimes newer drivers enable support for more video modes.

Good luck.

How do I get 1920 X 1200 resolution on my monitor?
Q. I just picked up the 24" Samsung SyncMaster 2433BW LCD monitor and cannot figure out how to get the max resolution on it. I'm no computer wiz so I'm not even sure if my Dell Dimension 4600 graphics or video card will even support it. Right now it is maxed at 1280 X 1024 with the highest (32 bit) color quality. I purchased this PC in 2004 and it came with the Pentium(R) 4 CPU 2.80 GHz 2.79GHz & 1.0 GB of RAM. I don't know how to check to see what type of graphics card was installed but I had it customized for multimedia usage. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Thanks...
This monitor does support 1920 X 1200 resolution. About the drivers, how do I install them to see if that may fix the problem. A friend of mine said the Dell model I purchased would support that resolution...

A. Hello OU812?,

You can only reach the full resolution of your monitor if your video card supports it. If you have a basic video card, it will only let you as far as you currently are. You will need to go get a new video card or a newer computer.

Good Luck!

EDIT: The best bet would be to find out what kind of graphics card you have and do some research on it in Google.

* Right click your My Computers on your desktop and click properties.

* Click on Hardware.

* Click on Device Manager

* Click on Video Adapters and Find your Video Card.

* Note down the name and model number.

Take this information and plug into google. Find out what the max resolution is. If it is the size of your screen or bigger, you will need to contact Dell or find the video card adapter (remember that name and model number you saved?) and type into a search at dell for Drivers. Update the driver and you should be good to go.

I just think you havent installed the driver maybe since you formated a computer at some point and when you update it, you will probably be able to use the 1920 X 1200. Without the type of graphics card, I am unsure if your computer will or wont.
