Can I use my own speakers with a new monitor?

Q. I am considering purchasing a new computer monitor. I have a HP computer so I have found a HP flat screen color monitor that has great customer reviews. The only thing that people say is a problem(not a major problem) is the speakers, most say they are not loud enough. I have a great pair of external speakers. Can I plug them in and use them instead?

It is a HP - 20" Widescreen Flat-Panel TFT-LCD HD Monitor - Black
If anyone has one,I would love to here from you.

A. The speaker connection is a completely different connection from the monitor connection. The speakers connect via a 3.5 mm mini plug usually colored green on a desktop PC. The monitor through a 15 pin VGA (usually colored dark blue) or a DVI plug (usually colored white), both of which are way bigger, so you can't possibly get them mixed up with the speaker connection.

So, yes you can still use your awesome speakers.

Can you connect a PS3 to a computer monitor?
Q. I was wondering how can I connect a ps3 to a monitor using VGA or DVD-D connector. I have a LCD monitor and I would like to a ps3 connected to it. How do I about the sound?

A. Hiya Andre,

Yes, this can be done easily with a VGA box which is made just for this type of purpose. Here are some links to help you hook up and get it running quick. As far as the sound goes, you can attach to the monitor if it has speakers, otherwise you will need a small pair of Walkman / PC type speakers. You can also run the audio through a home stereo and some portables.

1) Magic VGA Box, seems to have the best reviews by users and is priced a bit higher then the others:

2. XCM 1080p VGA box, compatible with the Nintendo line of consoles. Looks neat.

3. The YPbPR to RGBHV may be the one for you. It has a switch for 2 consoles:

Basically, you plug in the console, then the monitor and fire everything up. You can also switch to a computer if you want.

GOOD LUCK!!
