Can I force a higher resolution on my PC and monitor?

Q. I have a middle of the road eMachines PC with a 22 inch LCD monitor. My resolution settings are the highest they can go right now (1920x1080)

Can I "force" or trick my PC or monitor into a higher resolution setting??? Is this possible and how?

A. No. If it were a CRT monitor, you MIGHT be able to ever slightly at the sacrifice of refresh rate (vertical scan rate), but pushing the hardware to its limits can cause failure.

LCD monitors have one fixed resolution at which everything must be displayed.

What monitor is better for gaming widescreen or regular?
Q. What monitor is better for gaming widescreen or regular? I am thinking about buying new 19" LCD monitor but I am not sure which one is better for gaming. I never played games on widescreen so I am not sure.

A. wide screen is better for movies. if your games dont support wide screen your window will form to the game you will have a black line on either side. which ever you get make sure its high resolution and has a high refresh rate of like 10ms or better 8 is just about right for most people. you could try a high resolution flat screen CRT. make sure your video card can support the resolution you want and the refresh frequency's and use a DVI cable instead of svga for a LCD for bes picture.
