How to program a remote to work with a computer monitor?

Q. I bought a 24 inch HDMI lcd computer monitor a while back for my computer, but I now use it for my Xbox 360. The monitor has speakers, but I can only adjust the volume if I get up and use the touch buttons on the front of the monitor, which are usually unresponsive and a pain in the butt to use. I was wondering if their is any way possible for me to program a remote to use with the monitor. If that isn't possible, is their a way to control the volume directly from my Xbox 360? I saw an Xbox 360 remote, but does that actually control volume?

The monitor is a Samsung 24 in. SyncMaster 2494 HM.

A. If the monitor didn't come with a remote, it has no infrared sensor on it for a remote to begin with. To make it simple for you to understand, it ain't gonna happen.

How to hook up a pc monitor to cable box?
Q. Hello I have IO digital cable and I am using a fifteen year old piece of c&%p tv that is on its last legs. But for my computer I have this beautiful 24 inch LCD monitor for my computer. Is there any way for me to hook up my IO box to my monitor directly or must I have a tuner card put into my pc

A. Does the cable box have an hdmi port on the back of it? You could potentially run an hdmi to dvi cable to your monitor (Or hdmi to vga whatever your monitor is using currently.) Then you would just have to use the cablebox remote to change the input source.
