What are the best types of graphic cards that my comp can handle?

Q. I understand my computer has an integrated graphics card, but I can insert a new graphics card into one of the expansion slots in my motherboard. However, I have no idea how to determine what kinds of graphic card is compatible with my system! I'm trying to find graphic cards that would make PC gaming perform better and smoother.

If it helps, here are some of my specs:

A. Compatibility is not your problem.

The computer case is ATX size and you have a PCIe x 16 slot, so any modern graphics card plugs into it. Your problem is the 250 watt power supply that barely handles your system the way it is, and the old 2006 CPU that has the power of less than the cheapest of laptops.
You need a CPU upgrade as found on ebay and has to be compatible to your motherboard.
You need a stronger power supply as top mounted in the back.
You can use any number of graphics cards, but the CPU is low end and you don't get their performance. I would suggest any of GT 640, HD 7750, or HD 6670 as good value cards, but you must start with a power supply replacement and upgrade before the graphics card, and then you can use a CPU upgrade, but the motherboard is an old socket AM2 and cannot accept good newer CPUs.

Graphics card compare with a good CPU

Power supplies.

Corsair CX500 looks like a good choice now at $30 after rebate

Graphics cards $50 to $100

Yes, I've heard of Steam. I'm looking for a list or any recommendations of games I can run at the moment, yes I know this graphics card is horrible and I'm going to try to add on a different card, but in the meantime I'd like to know what I can run at the moment.

A. Nothing close to high end. You have no video card, only Intel integrated graphics

If you want to play modern games, you need to buy and install a decent video card (and most likely the power supply too)
