windows 7 monitor issue?
Q. I plugged in and old monitor in to my laptop running windows 7 and turned it on and it is my main display but i cant get it back to the laptop screen. The laptop screen comes on for the bios loading but when the logon screen comes on it switches off and goes to the 2nd display I have tried restarting without the 2nd display plugged in but the laptop screen still goes black on the log screen. My graphics card is a ati radon xpress 200 if anyone knows were i could get the ati controller for the driver from like i had in xp i think i could fix it. Any ideas would help.
I tried that button it just turned the 2nd display off and on.
I fixed it I had to uninstall and reinstall the vga driver from device manager.

A. There should be a key on your computer that's labeled as function (fn). If you hold that you should be able to press F8 (most likely). It should either say CRT/LCD on it in the same color ad the fn button, or it should have a picture of a square/rectangle with a slash "/" and another square/rectangle. Press that once with fn held down, see what happens.. if it flickers and changes but isn't what you want, just keep doing that until it goes back to normal. That's usually the way to change between the display modes. If not, try right clicking on the desktop, go to Personalize, then change resolution. It should show both monitors and you can chose "Extend my display onto this monitor" or "Make this my primary display". Play with those options, you should be able to get it back to ordinary using one of those methods.
