Q. why if i want to buy a 26" lcd monitor there is nt way to buy them , even where there were more variety the wide ones were cheaper than the regulars ones? the same happen with the notebooks.

A. People seem to have a preference to wide screens because you technically see more wide space due to peripheral vision; However, it is rare that monitors actually get used in such a way that peripheral vision is necessary, so it's mostly a marketing gimmick. (After all, even if you get a screen that's tall, you can still easily see the top and bottom of it without having to move your eyes much.) Widescreen is also the recorded movie for format, and since people don't like the "ugly" (?) black bars it was decided that it would "look better" if the screens were wide too.
Widescreen also costs less because a monitor with the same designation of size (e.g. 26") has less of a viewing area than a regular monitor of the "same" size! (i.e., 26" WS != 26" regular, because they're measured diagonally.)
(Personally, I prefer the "square" monitors too!)

A. There is not much to choose between many of them. Look at the specifications. The refresh rate is shown in milliseconds and a good one would be less than 12ms (8ms is better). The Contrast rate is also shown as a ratio. 300:1, 400:1. Choose one with a high ratio 600:1. Decide also if you want speakers, many do not have the inbuilt speakers any more.
Like all electronic equipment, you get good ones and bad ones. Buy what you can afford, but buy what you need. Don't be drawn by brand names, they only add to the price! and they are normally made in the same factory as unbranded models.
