How to tell if a monitor has superb colors or not?

Q. I'm looking into buying a nice LCD monitor, and I'd like to get a monitor with pretty much the best colors, and contrast available. What is there to look for? How do I know if it's near the best?
And can you recommend a great one for me?

Thanks

A. Monitor prices depend on the type, size, and features of the display. For example, the AOC e2243FW, a no-frills model that uses a 22-inch TN panel, costs around $150. It lacks niceties such as USB ports and a height-adjustable stand, but it does use LED backlighting, is ultra thin, and requires very little power. Its performance is fine for most entertainment purposes or for viewing business and productivity apps,

How do I know the form factor and monitor type of my desktop?
Q. Form Factor:
Desktop: Standard
Desktop: High Performance
Laptop/Notebook

Monitor Type:
LCD (Thin, Flat Panel)
CRT (Older, Larger type of monitor)
Dual LCD Screens
Dual CRT Screens

Monitor Size

How do I know what all of those are? And how do I measure the monitor size, like diagonal, across, etc?
Those are the options a program I downloaded gave me, so how do I know what I have?

A. First off, you probably have a standard desktop (unless you have a laptop) so choose that. The monitor type is like it says. If it is the newer flat type it is LCD. If it is big and heavy it is CRT. Unless your computer is REALLY old, you probably have an LCD. Dual screens is for...well.. two screens. You probably don't have that. The size is measured diagonally from corner to corner. It will be 16 or 17 inches, possibly higher.
