I have a question only expert smart people can answer can you help me?

Q. Im installing a pc in my 1999 corolla. Im doing this on a salvage budget I built the tower and it's in my trunk it's minimal with a 250 watt power supply 1.4 gig of ram and a NVIDIA video card. Im placing this in my trunk and mounting a 15 inch lcd monitor near my dash. Including the mouse and keyboard will a 115 volt dc to ac cigarette type Adaptor work? I have seen 500 watt versions for 40.00 bucks saying 300 watt continuous power 500 watt max what will I need so I don't destroy my car battery?

A. 500W / 12V = 40A. This big current will destroy car cigarette adapter and then deplete battery. Why you don't want something small in power consumption and size accordingly ?
2.It's not safe to have computer in the car

I have a new monitor and it widens my images. Is there any way to adjust that?
Q. I just went from a 15 inch monitor to a 17 inch monitor. To my surprise it went from square to wider than high in domensions, and the omages or my pictures are too wide. Is there a setting control to change the width? The monitor is a HANNS-G HW173A

A. Hello there!

When the image on the screen looks bad on an LCD monitor it is because the resolution sent from your computer does not have the same resolution as the monitor's panel resolution, also called "optimal resolution". If it's stretched up or too wide then the difference in resolution is also in the aspect ratios (examples: 4:3, 16:10 wide, 16:9 wide).

To assess this wrong aspect ratio and non-optimal resolution issue you have to match your desktop resolution with your monitor's optimal resolution.
You have just bought a widescreen 17 inch monitor that has a non-standard resolution of 1440x900. If you keep the old resolution as before when you had the 15 inch, your desktop resolution must be something like 1024x768.

Let's assume you are using the Windows XP operative system. Right click on the background area of your desktop and select "Properties" . There you can go under the "Settings" tab and select the optimal resolution 1440x900 for your desktop.

Confirm with "OK" and you will see everything look much better from now on! If however you have Windows Vista, follow the link I added below as it explains how to achieve the same on Vista.

If ever, I mean ever, you don't see 1440x900 as an available resolution in the display properties then you might have to udpate the drivers for your video card and/or your monitor. If it doesn't help then you need to contact the video card's manufacturer to get help enabling non-standard resolutions or confirm any incompatibility between the card and the monitor. But this is rare with nowadays' computers.

I hope this helps, Have a nice day!
