Q. I am a photographer, and I'm not professional I just do it for fun and I enjoy it. What are some beginner photography cameras ranging from $300 to $600 dollars? I want one to be decent, of course, and I would like 12-18 megapixels. I'm not good at camera prices, so I'm not sure how much, for example a 15 megapixel camera would cost. Please do not judge me because I started out at a 1990s camera and I currently have a 10.2 megapixel Samsung Intelligent LCD. I don't want video because that does not matter to me. I don't need password-protected control on my camera and I do want features that are able to take moving things like dogs, whatever lens or camera that requires. I want detailed pictures, so a good lens or one where I would be able to snap another lens on. Optical zoom is preferred. I want to be able to take good pictures at any time, night or day. That's about all I really want and don't want. If you have any questions I'll be happy to add additional details. Thanks!

Q. There's a Samsung Digimax AC503 camera available at the local store. Here are the specs:

-5X digital zoom
-2.0" TFT LCD monitor
-VGA 24fps move function (????)
-Special �effect� button
-PictBridge support
It has no optical zoom. Will it make a difference? Also, please explain the feature I've marked with multiple question marks. Is the megapixel enough for casual photography?

A. You need an optical zoom, A digital zoom merely crops your photo so it looks like a close up. and when you print it out it will be blocky.
