Can a Nvidia GT 540M support a extra 23" monitor?

Q. I have this Acer 4750g with a i5-2410m and a gt 540m. i was wondering if the gt 540m can support an extra 23" 1920x1080 monitor? I would use the extra monitor for playing games. thanks for answering.

A. Definitely has "Dual independent display support" using the HDMI cable.

Laptops have display switching in most cases, but operating with different images would take more research so the question is precisely what you are trying to do.
With the decent processor and video card, but that card still below a class-1 level, in gaming you get faster frame per second and higher game settings on the smaller LCD as 720p, but if you like the bigger image of an external display and higher definition, depening on the game settings you can make it work. Not sure of the extra stress on the graphics system operating both displays at once. You are starting from the 720p, next level to the external-only in 1080p, and now talking driving two displays that stresses the GT 540M even more. I personally prefer the Lenovo Y570's that got the GT 555M as a little stronger chip, but that is too late now anyway.
For the "how to" it should be in the manual, or browse Acer web site and the internet.
Maybe someone more familiar with the procedure could jump in. Two of the same images is a Fn-PF7 usually. Check the keyboard and it goes one, the other, or both, and should also be n the control panel in Displays
Adding: I am only consider laptops and not sure you really want to have three displays as VGA, HDMI and your main system LCD. That would be a trickier question.

A. Straight off the bat I see one major problem:

The CPU and motherboard aren't compatible. The i7 3820 is a socket LGA 2011 CPU, and the P8 Z77 is socket LGA 1155. If you want to keep the 3820, then you have to switch the motherboard to an x79 chipset. If you want to keep the Z77, then switch the CPU to a Non-E type Sandy Bridge (e.g i5 2500k, i7 3770k etc).

>If it were up to me, I would just stick with a 2500k or 3570k (or i7 equivalent; i7 2600k / i7 3770k).
>Consider switching the HD 7970 for a GTX 670. It's higher performing and about the same price.
>You really don't need 32gb of RAM. While gaming, you'll use no more than 4gb (at the very most ~6gb). 8-16gb of RAM is already "futureproofing."
>If you cut back on the RAM and get 8-16gb, you can pick up an SSD, which is a lot more relevant to a build (IMO) than 32gb.
>Turtles Beaches aren't the best gaming headsets out there. In fact, they're quite overpriced for the quality you're getting. Consider picking up some NICE headphones (e.g Sennheiser) and just buying an external mic. The sound quality will be significantly better.

EDIT: Looks good. If you want an SSD and don't mind spending the extra money, then go for it. Nowadays you can get them for as low as $90 (120gb). If you're looking for cheap ones, Mushkin's Chronos and Crucial's M4 series is rather budget oriented.
