Macbook pro mid 2011 black screen?

Q. Okay I made the mistake of updating my macbook pro again because last time I did the same thing and this happened. I get the black screen but when I hook it up to an external monitor it is fine and I can still type on my mac and such like i am doing now.

Is there something wrong with the power support and the led lights? Why isn't my screen up. The computer is on but the backlit keyboard is off and the lcd is too. Help, I just bought this mac a week ago. It is brand new.

A. There is something in the update that is FUBAR'ed, it is shutting off the backlight on the keyboard and lcd, probably a mistake in the power save options. I would say step back the version if you know how to, and don't update it again.

Computer monitors turning off with certain actions?
Q. I have a dual monitor setup (HP w2408 wide LCD monitors). When I do certain things, the monitors will immediately go into sleep mode, every time, guaranteed. These things include:

- Starting playing a song in Winamp
- Once a song finishes playing in Winamp (or I press stop to stop playing a song)
- Plugging in my iPhone
- Unplugging my iPhone

I don't think it's a problem with my monitor, because BOTH monitors go into sleep mode. And I'm not performing taxing tasks at that time (for example I can have just restarted the computer, and plug my iPhone in (no other programs are running), and boom...the screens will go into sleep mode.

It's SUPER annoying, and I'm pretty sure this only started happening after the latest Window update (I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit, Service Pack 1).

Anyone know of any fixes for this?

And yes, I checked my power settings. Set them to "never" turn off screen. Still happens.

A. Hello, If you want the display to be just on one screen, you will need to go to your computers' Display Settings which can be accessed by right clicking on your desktop and personalize your display or through the control panel->Appearance and Personalization-> Display. In the settings, for the multiple display option, select "Display desktop only on 1" or "Display desktop only on 2" depending on which monitor is 1 or 2. Here are some websites that will help.

To get a good accurate answer give the brand, model number, installed operating system of the laptop when asking a question as all PC's are not the same. Hey, I enjoyed your question, I am a retired computer technician. I hope I have helped you...
