How can I watch digital TV on an LCD monitor? (without hooking up a computer to it)?

Q. I have an LCD monitor with HDMI and DVI inputs and I would like to use it as a TV. I would like to connect to antenna and watch the digital broadcast TV after the "transition". I understand I need an external tuner, but what will work after the transition and which is best?

A. A DTV converter is a digital tuner, so the only obstacle you have is finding one with a DVI or HDMI output or buying a VCR with These connections and using the coax connection from the DTV box.

A. A TV contains two elements, a tuner and a display. You can buy a digital tuner now which will still work after the changeover. The problem will be with the outputs from the tuner, which are generally in the form of a SCART plug. There are several DVD recorders with HDMI outputs so it might worth checking those out. Some have both analogue and digital tuners.
