Do I have to replace the lcd monitor to get a sharper view after I upgrade my new graphic card?

Q. I bought GTX 470 by EVGA. However, the texts and everything looks kinda blurry at 1280x800 or 768. My monitor is Gateway, FPD2485W and bought it three years ago. If I replace the monitor with a newer one, will that make everything more sharp and clear with XP or 7?

A. No duh it looks blurry. You're not running your LCD at native resolution. Turn it up to 1920x1200 and everything will look fine.

What's the difference between a television monitor and a computer monitor?
Q. I know there are models which can be used as both but what are the main differences?

A. Computer monitors are generally higher resolution, have higher refresh rates and smaller dot pitch. Basically, they are all round higher quality.

A TV is designed to show TV pictures which generally do not have a large amount of fine detail on them and are viewed at a distance of anywhere between six and twenty feet. The resolution of TV screens is fairly low - standard definition TV screens are the same resolution as the VGA computer screens of twenty years ago. Even HD screens only have the same resolution of a computer screen maybe ten years ago. Monitors show large amounts of fine detail (e.g. a screen full of text) and are viewed from a distance of maybe two feet.

The differences became less when they switched from the old CRT screens to LCD panels. That at least addressed the problem of flicker which made TV screens completely unsuitable for computer use. However, the computer monitor portion of the combination displays is frequently very simplistic, limiting you to certain resolutions and refresh rates at a low to medium resolution.
