How can I watch digital TV on an LCD monitor? (without hooking up a computer to it)?

Q. I have an LCD monitor with HDMI and DVI inputs and I would like to use it as a TV. I would like to connect to antenna and watch the digital broadcast TV after the "transition". I understand I need an external tuner, but what will work after the transition and which is best?

A. A TV contains two elements, a tuner and a display. You can buy a digital tuner now which will still work after the changeover. The problem will be with the outputs from the tuner, which are generally in the form of a SCART plug. There are several DVD recorders with HDMI outputs so it might worth checking those out. Some have both analogue and digital tuners.

How to watch Tv on LCD monitor without a Computer?
Q. how would i do this my lcd monitor has a hdmi and dvi input.

A. Listen fools, they said "without a computer"...

All you need is a tv-tuner. A vcr will work with rca outputs, but the ideal would be a digital cable box w/ component outputs or better. The new hd cable boxes typically have hdmi ports.

A lot of new monitors have ports for hdmi, dvi, vga, component, or rca, but your's might only have one.

Even if it doesn't all you need is a converter. For example:
Digital cable box to component to converter to vga to lcd.
